sadly gabranth suffered from the same fatal weakness all the judge magisters of FFXII possessed. None of them had armor that came with a cod piece. You'd think such a vital spot would be armored but unfortunately for them they were not. A good swift kick with some pointed steel toe boots and it's a one hit knock out.

First beat all chapters of "Shade Impulse" and then you'll unlock bonus storylines to unlock Shantotto and Gabranth separately. Word of warning: make sure you use a character who is at least level 80 or higher for Gabranth. He's about level 70 or 72 when you fight him. I used Firion since his EX Mode allows him to regain health when he performs an HP attack. Once you beat his storyline you can buy him in the PP shop for 1000 PP.

A few subtle changes on US ver. Gabranth I've noticed:

Circle of Judgment generates less EX Force.

Rupture does not turn as sharply, but this means it can combo into a ground attack like Enrage.

The explosion from Guilt has the absorb property.

Shantotto is considered a "hero" bonus character so they figured they needed one villain bonus character too. I don't think FF11 and FF12 were meant to have a significant impact on the story of the first game anyway.

Vaan's English VA has confirmed he'll be in Dissida 012, though (the other hero character is unknown, but I'm hoping for Balthier or Basch). In my opinion, I didn't find Vann to be a very interesting protagonist, but then again I don't hate him either so whatever.

@sweetcrosby Booster builds for Gabranth aren't really needed. I run a Gabranth without Boosters and his Ex mode duration is nearly unlimited, as well as a quick charger, rarely drops below 80%

But with or without boosters, you can create a situation where he can have nearly infinite, in that by the time it's lowered, you have already gathered more than enough exforce, or an excore to be at 100% again. For most sets boosters are good, but unlike a booster, when you equip more ex boosting accessories, it's not situational, but constant.

Having that constriction just means that if your opponent can figure out which boosters you have, to keep you from filling the conditions for it, meaning your accessories have become weak and hardly useful, while the build I have, ensures that no matter the situation, the effects will always be high.

@DiReplay true and not true- every battle you see goes to the loading screen which has all equipment(including accesories) which they then can do what you said, but if you pick thing they can influence like lvl=100, or multiple of 5, while in ex mode and stuff like that then they can do very much.

He also gets a god damn Ex Force charge. Just give him accessories to increase time in Ex Mode and you're unstoppable

@midoriuchiha1 or you could get gold/ silver hourglasses, pearl necklace, and gravitorb. make sure you put booster accessories so you are practically in infinite ex mode. Also try to get gabranths exclusive lvl. 100 weapon, Chaos Blade (ATK +68, Ex mode duration +40%, minor counterattack effect).

I'm guessing it's similar to how you unlock Shantotto. You have to complete each character's story mode along with Shade Impulse. Then you complete Gabranth's story mode (you have to use a different character). Then you unlock him, through the PP catalog. I haven't really bothered unlocking him yet, so I can't be completely sure, but I have unlocked Shantotto who I <3. Anyways, good luck!
