The Catholic Church is the only Church founded by God Himself, because it comes from Jesus Christ, God and true man, to this day, comes directly from San Pedro, as the first Pope, to the present Pope. There are good and sincere in all religions, but good intentions can not change the Truth. In fact, in every religion there are partial truths, and many errors, especially in some, but the fullness of truth, the whole Truth, is in the Catholic faith.

Gays, Hetero fornicators, prostitutes, murderers, and each and every person who has it in their heart to change their old sinful ways for a new life in Christ needs to be cared for by The Church. If a person catches a disease (sin) he needs to go to the hospital (The Church) to get cured. There's even plenty of treatment (penance) available. And, after the treatment there's the best meal ever (The Eucharist).

No church is home. The meek will inherit the earth, but only those who worship Jesus Who leads us to the Father. God does not share His glory with any servant. Praise & worship Jesus & you r home. You clearly have no idea what the true Church established by Jesus teaches and believes. Read the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) on-line. Learn what we really believe. Then read the early Church fathers (those who actually learned from the mouth of Jesus and His Apostles) and see what the earliest Christians believed. Catholics today believe the same as all true Christians through history.

I hate to break it to people but the Roman Catholic church was not the first real church. Prior to the Roman Emperor Constitine bringing Christianity to Rome in 312 AD Romans had a pegan religion. However, there was a mention of a Catholic Church in the Letter to the Smyrnaeans written around 106 AD by Ignatious of Antioch. However this Catholic Church was not Roman.

I am also glad you mention one of the proofs of the catholic churches existence before it became the official church of Rome. But you know the best evidence is to look at what the very early church taught and believed in and then look at what church today believes the same truths. In the New King James version of the Bible it clearly states: Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Pretty clear here, you don't offer up to God money or your good works for the GIFT of his Son ! Among others, Catholics don't even know that this simple scripture exists in the Bible. So sad...

I think the reason why people have left the Catholic Church is because of the horrific molestation crimes committed by priests against innocent children that put their faith in them. What I think should be done by the Catholic Church to restore parishioner confidence and bring people back to the faith is to let the priests get married. When you restrict people from their natural instinct to procreate they end up channeling their sexuality in a deviant manner. I pray for the Church.

@zjacks Remember that upon Peter's Confession to Christ, Our Lord responded "Blessed art thou... flesh and blood hath not reveled it to thee, but my Father in Heaven." Mt 16:15-17

We can make all sorts of philosophical formulas or metaphysical equations as to which faith (even atheism) seems most plausible. But, actually having true faith means believing when there is no reason to believe.

@RomanCath0lic I suggest two things: First, pray for God to re-open the heart and mind of your friend. Second, let your life and example be a witness to the reality of the existence of God. St. Francis exhorted his fellow brothers to "preach the gospel at all times and if necessary, use words." If your friend is seeking Truth, it will be found. God does not keep it hidden from the humble heart. Conversion of heart can take years. Be patient, but persistent. I will pray for you and your friend.
