  • You guys need to stop salivating over this game.

It was good, yes-but it sacrificed substance for style.

  • @LolCaramelz Sometimes, that's best. I'll just quote egoraptor with "Its like comparing a snack food, to a high-class desert". for what it was worth, the game felt just right for what it wanted to do. no need to prolong anything if it wasn't able to keep its quality high.

  • @LolCaramelz

Yes, the game isn't the best thing ever. I loved this game, and it was the game that made me realize that video games ARE art, but there are better games out there.

I disagree on the substance. The gameplay was solid, the lenght just right, and the story was near-perfect. I can't see how you could think the game was lacking "substance". Also, I love this soundtrack.

It WAS my game of the year (Over Driver & Skyrim), but I guess I like gaming more in bite sized pieces.

  • @LolCaramelz Stop being stupid! you're probably some farm animal that somehow got a youtube account saying that CoD is better than this because someone told you that!

  • @concreteninja123

I'm not, actually. Some of my favorite games were Baldur's Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Morrowind, the Total War Series--etc, etc.

I believe I have rather good taste in video games.

I just think that you guys are blinded fanboys of this game who can't see that it DOES have faults.

It is nonetheless an excellent game, and one of my favorites for this year-but it is NOT the 'greatest game ever made, a work of art'.

Hate me for it. I don't care, you know it's true.

  • @LolCaramelz IT'S ALMOST AS IF DIFFERENT PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT OPINIONS ABOUT THINGS.

  • @LolCaramelz like what?

  • The chorus makes my jaw drop every time.

  • i just beat the game and i didnt hear this song, did i miss something?

  • @frankleberg this song isnt in the game, its an extra from buying the soundtrack, and the soundtrack is well worth getting because its one of the best game soundtracks ever

  • I love how bits of the song, such as "They aaain't gooona catch you son" sound like parts from other songs (here, "We'll be there before too long"). It's like the Portal 2 OST tracks carry over thematic cores that they meld into different songs and immediately spark that "Hey, this is from the Portal/Bastion OST!". My two favourite soundtracks ever, both on the first place.

  • Acobi, The Chastened Maid.

    Garmuth, The Crippled Duke.

    Hense, The Veiled Widow.

    Jevel, The Tower Keeper.

    Lemaign, The Mason King.

    Micia, The Lorn Mother.

    Olak, The Carefree Son.

    Pyth, The Wakeful Bull.

    Roathus, The Gorging Host.

    Yudrig, The Morning Stallion.

  • I think that's how god in real life should work. They don't help you, but make things harder for you, with greater rewards. :P

  • Hey Poles, look at suggestions! Pozdrowienia z Polski/Greetings from Poland!

  • I like how even the guy's HIGH NOTES sound deep and gritty as hell.

  • The Stranger's dream with all the god's had me weeping & bleeding.

  • "They ain't gonna hear ya son

don't care about what you done"

I believe in God, but I also believe in this.

  • @AuspexAO Good to see that. Religion is an amazing thing, but some people allow the belief that a simple prayer will save them to dominate what they do. I wouldn't make a machine to constantly repair it every five minutes. (No offense intended)

  • @connosd None taken, ha ha. I think a person is best prepared for what lies before him when his head is neither bent in worship, nor raised to the sky in arrogant self-satisfaction. I actually really like protagonists like "The Kid" because even though he never says a word, you know what his motivation is: It needs doin'

  • GHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally bought bastion for it TO NOT WORK!!!!!!

  • @nomadkrad reinstall, always works

  • @nomadkrad Install Microsoft XNA framework 3.1 and Microsoft NET framework 4. It should work then.

  • What part does this play in? Does it play at all in the game?

  • Will you upload A Proper Story ?

  • God how I want to hear Neil Fallon cover this.

  • This is probably one of, if not the best game OST I can think of.

It even ones like Nier, and that is no small accomplishment.

  • DAE think this would be a perfect title theme for an American Gods TV show?

  • Anybody got a tab for this song?

  • @mapman500 I may be able to get you on sometime soon, once its done i'll be sure to send it to you.

  • @Piemente So actually you can send them to me too :) and thank you ma brother :D

  • @mapman500 Sorry it took so long, forgot about sending to you. XD PM me your e-mail address and i'll e-mail you the tab. (anyone else can too if they want)

  • For the missing lyric at 1:32, I think he's talking about Micia. Her in-game Idol text says "The Lorn Mother gave away Her heart", which definitely fits with what is written in the lyrics. He could still be saying "I say", but perhaps Micia previously had a different name like 'Isea' and it was changed before release.

  • If only I'd bought the soundtrack edition...

  • Please just fuck my ears with these 10 dollars, this bonus sound is definitely worth it.

  • I like activating and deactivating the gods just so I could hear the narrator say their names d:

  • The voice actor for rucks could easily do the voice-over for a chainsaw. - My brother.

  • @DamnoMan He could also be Johnny Cash

  • Awesome song... I really need to leran how to play this

  • Channeling the man in black. God's gonna cut you down :)

  • I think the music is a predominant reason I want this game.

  • Bastion's very fatalistic. It continuously stresses that solely relying on the gods will give you nothing, and instead doing things yourself will secure their support.

From what I believe, that message is correct for many faiths. This game isn't just well thought-out, it's a thought provoker!

  • @asparagusoffice I saw it more literally.

"...Shouldn't have invoked all them gods at the shrine, Kid, They'll make you regret it."

  • @asparagusoffice So it's kinda speaking out against altruism? Nice.

  • @MrFrumpymeat Think less "doing things to benefit yourself" and more "actually going out and doing things with your own hands."

That's what Asparagus was saying. It's fatalistic in the sense of 'no magic Deus Ex Machina solutions are to be found here,' not in the sense of 'you shouldn't help your fellow man.'

In fact, if anything, the ending ENCOURAGES helping your fellow man, regardless of differences.

  • @HeroOfTheHolySword Just so you know, the sound track and what you told me made me get the game, and I'm very thankful for it. Such a fantastic game.

  • @MrFrumpymeat Hah! Well thank you. That's kind of a major compliment to a guy like me. Glad to have had a positive hand in your decision-making there.

  • @asparagusoffice I believe you're thinking of determinism (I may be incorrect as well, honestly). Your actions cause the gods to change theirs. Doing things yourself to get support for what you want isn't something I would consider fate.

  • well, they can't do that much, since without people god's have no power at all (psychic manifestations and all)

  • It's too late for that now kid. Gods ain't gon' help ya now.

  • Blues, Cowboy-ish Western, Quick guitars, electronic music. Bastion is beast.

  • I was absolutely positive that this is Johnny Cash song..until now...wow masterpiece of song and soundtrack!

  • Id have to say, his voice sounds great on certain parts, but some parts he gets a bit off pitch >.< still a great song

  • I figured out the chords for this. Just figure out where what goes.

    E Dsus2 A E/C E C Dsus2/E G Dsus2 E

I hope you manage to find out what part goes to which verse. Some repeat of course.

  • This isn't a bonus track, this is played when you go to the island where you find your first shrine and get to activate one of them gods. Pith i believe.

  • Calamity cannon?

  • Oh no... SPOILER!

  • Last but not least, I guess. Certainly not.

  • Most badass, sexiest voice I've ever heard.

  • Comment removed

  • Reminds me of Johnny Cash...

  • This song is so stuck in my head that I was humming it during sex this morning...

  • i think to speek in the name of humanity when i say: this is one of th best game ever existed, and it's been created by seven guy. and I think this is much better then some banal game like Call Of Dury...

  • @gnorri03 So true... Marry me.

  • does anyone know where i could get a guitar tab for this?

  • i could imagine him singing this song while first visiting the god's shrine.

  • I want more! Give this man an entire EP's worth of guitar tracks like this and an audio booth and let me know when it hits iTunes & Amazon, please? KThanks!

  • Song sounds so manly

  • Not only is this man an epic narrator, but turns out he's a good singer as well. WE NEED MORE OF THIS MAN!

  • Epic voice.

  • I burst out laughing in hysterics because of the sheer epicness at 0:44 ... the lady in the next lane probably thought I was crazy

  • Did anyone else say "you're welcome" at the end?

  • @Zeldafan355 Everytime.

  • Screw the downloading. Screw the copy. I want BUY it!

These ones deserves even MORE than those f-cking silly 10 bucks!

  • @Kaczer94

To kup, co ci przeszkadza? xD

  • @PewuTV First - angielski, bitch.

Second - stan mojego budżetu mnie swędzi.

  • Oh I remembered the pwnage of the mobs on me when I set the all the idols on. yes call me noob but just played this game since last two days. can't even finish Kid's who knows where.

  • ***Spoiler*** (I'll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible though)

Ok, about the two choices in the end of the game. Let's just say that the Gods are in a timeless dimension and are realising that things are happening again and again. You could say that the gods are angry for the calamity that is happening and is punishing the Kid for what he's doing. But another way to see it is perhaps they are trying to guide the Kid to a better future.

  • @DumbFish1 I think you feel like you've heard it before because when you fall off, he'll might say something like "The Gods ain't gonna catch ya." (in the lyrics its "They ain't gonna catch you when you fall")

  • It isn't "I say" in the lyrics... It's "Micia". She's referred to as the Forlorn Mother in the Shrine, and Rucks is referring to her when he says Mother.

  • Find a bonus song on the soundtrack, one that wasn't on the game? Plant it.

  • @inferno232 it wasn't this song it was referring to, it was "a proper story" the song got cut from the game but was added as a secret on the grammar phone

  • Outphase, I fucking love you.

  • It's like he inhaled a box of chocolate. Brilliant song.

  • did you buy the Ost online?

  • He does a mean Johnny Cash.

  • The song is played somewhat in the game. Have a listen to "Get used to it" and you'll hear this song going on in the background (no vocals though) and Get used to it is played when you get the gramaphone and talk to Rucks about it.

  • that makes perfect sense in the game's context.

  • This song plays at the end. Right before you get the jump

  • My ears have died and went to heaven :)

  • I think it is "I say" because in this type of jazzy blues tune, it's common to put in quick little phrases like that

  • ...I think I just came.

  • No, thank you, logan.

  • Is this played in the credits? I know you said it was a bonus track, but i feel like i've heard it before.

  • @DumbFish1 Nope, unless they added it in the Steam version.

  • @outphase52 they didn't

  • @outphase52 Not in the steam version, I can tell you that.

  • @DumbFish1 It's played when you're in the camp area during the hallucination after you touch the first crystal

  • @Killwhitey222 no, the song that played there was zia`s theme but only the old man(rucks) sang it

  • @DumbFish1 You've heard it before because it is the badass' theme song.

  • "Them gods gonna hurt you son" is the beginning of the last verse. Great work!

  • This is officially the greatest thing i have ever heard in my entire life. The Bastion voice SINGING A GOD DAMN SONG.

  • @Iaresatan Well, the gods are out to get them for their decoratisation, so it makes sense that this song would've been made as such. :p

  • I think at 1:33 he's saying instead of I say. "Micia , (Mother?), lonely old gal"

  • this is awesome

  • I don't remember this song being in the game anywhere. But it's awesome.

  • @CheezecakeWarrior It's a bonus track on the soundtrack.
