Low-Light performance would be improved as well with a bigger sensor, so it's not just DOF control that is important. 1/3" chips are just too small for professional cameras, especially these days.
@charvelgtrs That may be true, but the signal processor doesn't give you a sharp enough image, you're wasting pixels and getting aliases. This is and the EX1R are the only camera that give you true 1080p not that less than 700 line crap that other cameras give us and this camera does it with 1/3 inch Cmos sensors. If you can find a large sensor camera with true 1080 for less than $10,000 I congratulate you. Even the F23 is a 2/3 inch sensor.
Sony FS-100. It has an APS-C sensor with true 1080p resolution. It's low-light performance is better than any HDSLR. It can also do in camera slow-motion at 1080p 60fps. It can also accept just about any lens with the right adapter. You also have all the standard video camera features like zebras, focus peaking, manual audio controls and XLR inputs. All this for $4999 body only, or $5499 with the 18-200mm optical zoom lens. The Canon XF305 is over $6000.
@charvelgtrs Congrats, but I forgot to mention the rolling shutter skew effect, It seems to be less of a problem on the XF300 than the FS100. I don't know how canon managed this, but it's defiantly less of an issue.
The XF305 probably has less rolling shutter, but it's still not horrible on the FS100, especially compared to HDSLR's. I just think that a $6000 camcorder should at least have a 2/3" sensor.
@charvelgtrs Well as you can see, it depends on what you want. You want a 16mm film equivalent with DOF, I want very sharp images and 4:2:2 colour space without rolling shutter skewing. I can't stand rolling shutter pans, that's why I didn't buy a GH2.
@charvelgtrs it is 4:2:2 and shoots at 50mbs, the Sonys are 4:2:0 @ 25mbs unless you go straight out at full res to a HDD (extra $500-800)...seems to have a bit more bang for the same price as the Sony NX5 which also has 1/3 chips but at a lower spec. I can't really see the difference myself..
Very simple and light............. An XL-H1 working easy without all these armors. Why Canon doesn't produce an update tape-less of that beautiful camcorder?
XF series it's ok, but don't have interchangeable lenses and an ergonomic chassis. Transfer most of the best XF feature in XF in a chassis and bigger viewfinder of a next XL shoulder camcorder .
what the price of such thing ? pz anyone know >> just inform me

Good luck in a dying industry. I'll send you a message on a Telegraph.

@charvelgtrs Only on DOF. Look at the XF300 footage before you say that.

@TVperson1
I never said that the XF300 produces bad video, but it's limited in how you can control depth of field.
charvelgtrs 6 months ago
@charvelgtrs Doesn't mean it fails, the Lumix GH2 has a major a skewing effect problem and people still seem to want it for video.

what program did you use to do the chroma keying?
cubeproduktion 1 year ago
@cubeproduktion we used Keylight (1.2) in After Effects CS5 to do the keying.
