Excellent!!! Like others I have questions...what are you mic'ing this with?? I have one but my fat fingers are a little much for this size instrument, but can't play anything like you play this!! Love the sound you get from 135 to 140 just strumming....sounds like a harp!! Great job all around!!!
@taxisteve929 one last thing...I assume these are the original strings since you typed "new toy", but I've read a few different suggestions on replacements....my strings are getting chopped up at the 3rd fret, I assume from bending, but would like to know what you went with on replacements.
I've got a guitalele, but I'm looking for an even higher pitch guitar. Something a bit like the charango, but without the doubled strings. Any suggestions?
What are you playing in the 20 to 40 second portion of the video. It sounds really cool? Is it a song, or just a chord pattern you like? What is the chord pattern?
looks like a cool little instrument ... would of been good to hear a complete song ... maybe a Doc Watson tune instead of a lot of noodling ... really talented guitar player though! Impressive. I might buy one of them for ragtime and fingerpicking blues.
I had buy the some model of guitalele yesterday, it worth 100$ canadian dollar, with the bag and it use normal classic guitar strings. Far more good then that cheap Manolo Ukulele toy.
I became fixated on this instrument after seeing John Mayer play one in concert for his song 'Do You know me'? I've researched them and watched countless videos on YouTube. I have since purchased one and am having trouble finding help with instruction. I enjoy the way you seem to cover so many styles in your demo. I'm totally green playing stringed instruments. Do you have any suggestions where to start?
@Tinaskingdom just like any 6 string nstrument, i do recommend a full size guitar since the heavier headstock in the yamaha model tips balance and this (not a bad/good feature) transmits to the performer a different feel of the instrument.. just my opinion.. oh and try googling for Jamey Andreas. has great readings on posture, lessons etc
yes..it's really fun and great sound .. very good x practice solos and riffs...maybe too little x strum x big hands.. but great feel .. and very far from the cheap guitar of this dimension.. another stand .recommended !! great improvising Christopher !
Cool! Just ordered one of these, mostly for the wife, but I suspect I'll be playing with it as well...

@ZetaCron Like a guitar with a capo at fret 5, so - ADGCEA - Note the top 4 strings are the same as a low g ukulele.

At that low price its worth a try though. ;-) Maybe if you use extra, extra light gauge for fractional guitars ?
