  • Cool! Just ordered one of these, mostly for the wife, but I suspect I'll be playing with it as well...

  • is it bad to tune the GL1 like a regular guitar EADGBE?

  • Excellent!!! Like others I have questions...what are you mic'ing this with?? I have one but my fat fingers are a little much for this size instrument, but can't play anything like you play this!! Love the sound you get from 135 to 140 just strumming....sounds like a harp!! Great job all around!!!

  • @taxisteve929 one last thing...I assume these are the original strings since you typed "new toy", but I've read a few different suggestions on replacements....my strings are getting chopped up at the 3rd fret, I assume from bending, but would like to know what you went with on replacements.

  • You play very good, It is a really song ? Wats the partition ?

  • Cool! Having had this for a while, are you happy with it? I am looking at one of those or a tenor uke for camping, yurt trips and stuff.

  • Ты чего такой дёрганный?))

  • Earlyer this day i was thinking should i buy it or not but after watching this video i have to!

  • I've got a guitalele, but I'm looking for an even higher pitch guitar. Something a bit like the charango, but without the doubled strings. Any suggestions?

  • i just bought a baby Taylor so now i'm into small guitar ish guitars :) Great playing. ok?

  • sweet.

    very enjoyable.

  • What kind of strings do you use?

  • Sounds perfect to play Mario Bros song !

  • sounds amazing :)

i searched for this guitalele because i want to buy the same one and you gave me a very good reason to buy it really :)

    thank you

btw sry for my bad english :D

  • What's the tuning for one of these? Thanks. =D

  • @ZetaCron Like a guitar with a capo at fret 5, so - ADGCEA - Note the top 4 strings are the same as a low g ukulele.

  • Amazing!

What is the music playing at 0:21 to 0:37 please ?

  • i was mostly staring at that les paul you have back there.

  • The most important is the guitarist, not the guitar, never forget this!

  • Wow this thing owns the baby martin and taylor.I'm going to buy two of them.

  • do you just use regular classical strings?

  • I will get one but how do you tune it??

  • Great! I have one too. I t works great for my jazzy songs.

  • What are you playing in the 20 to 40 second portion of the video. It sounds really cool? Is it a song, or just a chord pattern you like? What is the chord pattern?

    Love the vid!

  • @duckness1 me too!!

  • Comment removed

  • @duckness1 its a capo on the 5th string then its: C, D/F#, G and then C

  • looks like a cool little instrument ... would of been good to hear a complete song ... maybe a Doc Watson tune instead of a lot of noodling ... really talented guitar player though! Impressive. I might buy one of them for ragtime and fingerpicking blues.

  • @christophepons1: which tuning do you use in that video?

  • @TheCousin666 i believe the guitalele is in standard tuning at capo 5 on a regular sized guitar. :)

  • I want one of these now. Oh my gosh.

  • This is the coolest instrument.

  • these are $99 at the Southwest Strings website. Just search for GL1

  • @schlamorg Thanks for this information. Southwest is the first retailer I've heard of that sells the GL-1 in the US.

  • ありがとう

  • this is an amazing jam! you had me bobbing man!

  • I had buy the some model of guitalele yesterday, it worth 100$ canadian dollar, with the bag and it use normal classic guitar strings. Far more good then that cheap Manolo Ukulele toy.

  • Fantastic playing. Lots of ideas to take inspiration from (steal - but that's flattering).

  • nice :)

i just bought one of these for my daughter...

  • Is this with original strings?

  • I ordered one within seconds of watching this video.

  • Nice sound und cool playing! :o)

  • You're great!

  • I became fixated on this instrument after seeing John Mayer play one in concert for his song 'Do You know me'? I've researched them and watched countless videos on YouTube. I have since purchased one and am having trouble finding help with instruction. I enjoy the way you seem to cover so many styles in your demo. I'm totally green playing stringed instruments. Do you have any suggestions where to start?

  • @Tinaskingdom just like any 6 string nstrument, i do recommend a full size guitar since the heavier headstock in the yamaha model tips balance and this (not a bad/good feature) transmits to the performer a different feel of the instrument.. just my opinion.. oh and try googling for Jamey Andreas. has great readings on posture, lessons etc

  • yes..it's really fun and great sound .. very good x practice solos and riffs...maybe too little x strum x big hands.. but great feel .. and very far from the cheap guitar of this dimension.. another stand .recommended !! great improvising Christopher !

  • how much ?

  • Thanks for sharing.

I just went and got one. Yamaha should pay you big money for this great commercial.

  • How wide is it across the neck ?

  • Thanks for this. Wonderful playing. You've convinced me to buy one of these!

  • how can you play bendings with it?

  • PLS make a lesson vid how to play this song when the others think soo too thump up

  • I got one too. I love it. ^^

  • Loved this vid, what a cool toy that is and very tasty picking.

  • Very nice playing...

  • yo play very nice man

  • very beautiful ...

  • beautiful

  • Nice playing!

Can i ask what the length of the guitalele is? Not the scale, but the total length.

Cuz i'm planning to buy one of those...

  • It's 70 cm (approx. 27.5 inches)

  • nice sound, and looking very playable, definitively getting one of these

  • what tuning you have?I cant find some tabs for guitalele

  • @maxwelll666

The standard tuning is A-D-G-C-E-A; the same as guitar, but five semi tones higher.

  • which chords and scale do you play till about 00:45?

  • does this guitar stay in tune?

  • ive just bought one of these from an auction, however it has steel strings on it, does it use nylon ones??

  • Yes it use nylon strings

  • yes - it is supposed to have nylon strings on it

  • that thing would probably snap in half if it had steel strings on it!

  • At that low price its worth a try though. ;-) Maybe if you use extra, extra light gauge for fractional guitars ?

  • Hey. I am trying to buy one of these. Where did you get it? IS the neck wider than a standard steel string?

    Thanks!

  • they dont sell in us, try looking in a canadian onine shop, they can ship

  • I have on off those ;) really great guitalele :D

  • guitalele? hmmm very cool sound though!!! imma get one hehe
