@YourGalPalVal1963 Yeah maybe so...but he will never be forgotten. Generation after generation will be listening to Stevie, mainly all the blues lovers and guitar players out there. One of the best there ever was and ever will be.
The Story is that Stevie saw a guitar in a music store window and wanted it but he couldn't afford it. When his wife, Lenny, heard this, she pooled together with a group of her friends to by it for him. when they gave him the guitar he was so thrilled, he stayed up the whole night writing this song on it. He even named the guitar Lenny.
@jevensen93 tom is one of the best out their "today" atleast he does his own thing, but your right. hes got nothing on either of them. srv and jimi are both the number 1 guitarists to ever exist in my oppinion

@evmp3s This is a grand example of how great music connects us to the other people in our lives. A simple, non-direct,influence that even a single song may make on a child's (or anyone's) musical taste can easily lead to future events that greatly impact their lives. Music is a magical force that trandsends age, gender, race, and even language...Thumbs up to you and your Grandson for sharing this amazing common thread...

Vaughn's wife used to say that she would wake up and turn over to see Stevie playing guitar in his sleep. His face would be all scrunched up like he was really grinding it out. S.R.V. was truly a man who enjoyed his craft.
I don't know how many times I've tried to play this myself, and I never really got it sounding *right*. I finally just gave up; guess this song didn't mean to me what it did to Stevie Ray...
@donmeswimee - I'm not an "older person" per se but pops brought me up on SRV and I'm 27 years old now and I was talking to someone the other day who is 18 and asked what his fav music was, the dude say blues and SRV and I was shocked with happiness. I know my pops thinks it's odd for me to like SRV but some teenager now days liking it.. SRV's music can reach and and grab anyone by the balls no matter what age.. SRV is still one of my favorite musicians.
@mixwell1983 I'm 15 and while I may be a metal head, this song never fails to move me. I love all the classics and all the good ol' blues and 80's metal. New mainstream is terrible and will never replace actual music particularly beauties like these. I take a lot of shit for liking the blues, but I don't care that lets me know I still have culture in a dying society.
alot of people are surprised that i would like this type of music. i said to them. i listen to this cause it is real music, not some crap someone else got paid to sing. this music has soul, and thats why i love it
@Hushimajosh - Sorry dude no way in hell dad would tell you to turn SRV down !! Fuck dad would be the one blasting that shit !! Mine does at least haha -=)
Nothing beats the blues, anyone who says they don't like blues hasn't heard this song. All you need is a heart and soul to appreciate this sort of music, it's absolutely beautiful. I can't even think of the right words for it.. just listen and you'll feel what I'm trying to say.
Strat '59, you must be a big fan. :) I'm so glad I got a chance to see Stevie and Jeff Beck before he died. One of the 3 or 4 best concerts I ever saw.
Did you know... his '59 was destroyed by a falling light standard, very shortly before his own death. Talk about foreshadowing! :(
I used to play this every night on the drive home from the dive bar I worked at back in the "good ol' days." It gave the otherwise grimy, soulless streets of my city a heart, and I don't care how ridiculous that sounds...I saw it with my own ears. ;-)

Stevie Ray Vaughan is the only man I know that has lived that could truly make me feel emotions that I never though I could feel...
Words cannot describe his pure soul he puts into songs. Every song.
His guitar wasn't just an object - I believe it was the very extension of his soul.
He will be sadly missed but never forgotten as long as people appreciate true, beautiful and blissful music. Much love.
