  • lu chen is a great magician, both for his ingenuity and his performances, you expose what he did, but can you think of something that you can do that he can't expose? or think of twists on old things like he can?

  • i seriously saw the ice cube under the water at the base the light reflected it making it easier to see especially when it moves

  • The ice is already in the water.... Fuckin magic.

  • dont complain, just see his performance in japan & u wlll know he is the best in ASIA

  • lol at fake comments, MAGIC IS FAKE. its not like hes pretending hes jesus is it lol, he's an illusionist

  • potassium is highly sensitive 2 water and it will burn or explode bcause potassium, K is located at Group 1, so it is impossible the ice is actually K...dude*

    gt zero for ur chemistry???

  • Just enjoy the trick...

  • haha i know this trick.

    done it in science class

in the brown there are 2 types of liquid.

    40% water/ 60% glutinous liquid

when ice is put in, cause of the thickness of

the liquid, the ice seems to not be there.

there for when he put his hand in to make ice,

he cleverly picks up one at the bottom of the

    bowl.

  • lol, i find negative comments here are funny... "OMG he's a faker!!" tell me which magician is not a faker? LOL

  • sucker sia.. the ice in water cant be seen... just like an table which cant be seen in water... then u say i can walk on water!!! cheaters!!!

  • @joeltk95

    you must be singaporean

  • yup totally obvious that the water is clear and the ice he use are special ice with a different mass thats why is sink hehe. Simple

  • so fake....

  • he is such a great magicien and he is funny and hansome. what more could you ask for

  • its chemicals. sodium something.. i forgot

  • sodium acetate

  • @lzqtiancai

= =sodium is very reactive...he will get hurt...

  • that not ice .. it glass .. or plastic

  • @FIIRE ya,, i'm thinking that the refractive index should be the same with water

  • i wish i could find out the trick.but this trick is like quite lao ya.hahahaha

  • @ raufkaka, please lahs, your science fail isit? Ice float on water hor, not sink one hor. Act pro niahs.

  • lamemohan, yes u are right, its all about science, actually at the very beginning, there is already ice inside,if u listen carefully during 1:26- 1:28,he accidentally touch the ice when lifting his hands out of the water, which cause the ice to hit the glass and produce a sound.and he also never ask the audience to touch and check the water, normally he will do that if the water is clear of nothing, but he did not. Anyway,to all people out there, there is no real magic, all are just illusion.

  • Despite whatever everyone is saying about him, i think Lu Chen and his magic tricks are amazingly awesome.

  • it's obviously fake..

i could see the ice in the liquid.

    what a fake.

i don't think that potassium metal can have such a tranparent solid state

    are you joking? kid

  • @kennya1a2 it is sodium acetate...

it turns into ice-like solid once u touch it, go search on youtube before u say sth in such a bad manner...

  • Besides chemistry, there is also physics. The liquid that is use is less dense then the ice and i think that the liquid is turpentine if i am not wrong as turpentine has density of 870kg m^3 which is less dense then ice and therefore the ice sink and the ice i also transparent and there this is how the magic work.

  • ice is transparent, is there such a ice ?

  • @priscillasoo

it must be the right temperature. i guess the water must be cold.

and he didnt asked the guest to check the water like he did in his other show

  • geez guys, can you guys just TRY TO ENJOY the magic???? Like, if you guys want to figure out the solution, then go somewhere else. Us people right here just want to enjoy the show! sheesh!

  • i totally agree!

  • yeah your right these ppl always do something like that i mean why dont they enjoy the show the magician just wanted us to be happy~

  • @joyceonglim it's just kinda instinct to explore the science behind magic shows for someone, say, major in sciece or so...

Trying to explain it makes one feeling fulfilled. I guess it could be a recrystalization process...

  • @joyceonglim Its because of the human nature that they want to expose things that they deem faked,in this case magic is all as we know illusions, and they gain satisfaction from exposing it with their knowledge.Nothing wrong with that actually, its part of that nature that human is evolving.

  • Can anyone reveal it to me?

  • ppl say he put ice 1st but there is no water droplets ~~

  • he's using a special transparent material that shares the same refractive index as water

  • exactly what I thought

  • I don't know how he made the 'ice' invisible, but I do know how he made ice sink. It's just basic chemistry, the ice is actually not made of ordinary water, H2O, but made of 'heavy water,' D2O. deuterium is a heavier isotope of hydrogen, therefore 'ice' made out of heavy water will sink in ordinary water.

  • but ice floats, ok........

  • not necessarily, ice made out of heavy water, namely D2O, will sink into regular H2O. It's just basic chemistry, deuterium is a heavier isotope of hydrogen.

  • why did he throw the tower as he takes out his hand from thevbowl?

  • lol

  • lol he puts his hands in the bowls, takes them out, and says "stop being so anxious everyone, just washing my hands" :D

No matter hoow many times I watch his tricks, i never figurre it out >:O

  • if i am not wrong..it could be ice tht cannot be seen inside the water..or...yea like horacechung said refractive index of the ice or chemical compound

  • You are absolutely right. The ice is actually in the bowl all this time. It's just that the refractive index has prevented the audience from seeing it. Very impressive observation!

  • i just dont get it ive watched heaps of clips about lu chen n his magic and they r all VERY fascinating but how come on the new year spring gala thing his tricks were lame compared to his usual tricks?

  • so is this about the refractive index of the ice or chemical compound?

  • yes i guess so.

  • lol...

  • theres a specific chemical compound of water that can make it completely invisible when in more water, i read something about that once in a chemistry textbook

  • just some solid freezed before putting into water

the solid has a refractive index close to that of water,so we can't see it

  • the beginning is so funny

he says that the magician was in Shanghai but wanted to come to Taiwan. But he lost his passport.

Then he's like, "how can he come if he lost his passport?"

    Everyone's is like, "why?"

and he says, "because he found it!"

  • lol , i know , that make me laugh as well

  • 1:27 tiny sound in the water

  • his bracelet hit the bowl

  • if there is ice in the water , the ice should float on the surface of the water ,lol ,so it's not that easy , man

  • no le ice is not in the water ok .if got they sure can see noob

  • eng?

  • is liu qian la...

  • Not according to his official website. He's Taiwanese, so the pin yin of his name is different (from the Mainland pin yin, Liu Qian).

  • @MagicYiChen what exactly is his website?

  • @MagicYiChen lol i search very long lol

  • childish! the ice are already in the water! dun be scammed.

  • are you some kind of idiot? ice FLOATS.

  • He's such a talented magician!!!!!!!!

  • put salt!!i oso noe that trick!!

  • if u put salt, the melting point will be reduced below zero degree c....

it just makes the icing even harder under room temp...- -///

  • salt will reduce the water melting point... it makes the icing even harder la- -///

  • How old is he?

    Thanks for uploading!

  • 32 years old

  • who lu chen

  • Lu Chen is the magician that you just saw..
