  • One of those tiny fruit pies for a dollar in the supermarket are about 450 calories. This usually is not enough for anyone to eat. They might go and eat 2 or 3 more of those, and a hamburger plus the rest of that meal. That dinner desert episode is already more than 2k calories. Look at all the food you get to eat 6 lb. on that half of water melon for 600 calories. As far as I'm concerned that melon is a better deal calorie wise.

  • haha funny video. didnt know you were an elite athlete! In what sports? And im really interested in how much fruit cost in Aus.. Ofc it depends on what fruits and all but would you mind giving an example of the fruits you buy, how much and what it costs? Cos here in sweden a lot of the fruit you eat over there are freakin expensive here. I could just eat bananas and my wallet would feel fine but i would get seriously tired of the bananataste after a while.

Watch BBC 2 "Tribes" Indigenous rain forest tribe living on a MIXED diet including fish, turtle, wild boar etc, fuck me they were in great health and shape, no bollox talking about meat is putrified, toxic waste. Read what Julien Absalon eats, fucking sick on a mtb and would kill most roadies, if you want to talk about elite athletes.

  • No offense Durian, but I've been raw vegan for 10 years and Fruitarian about 3 of those last 10. I walk 8 to 10 miles a day as a postman and I do Bikram Yoga about 3 days a week. I've never had nor do I imagine the need to count calories. I find it a waste of time and energy.

  • @SarahJ83 That is not true. In fact there are a lot of research where shows how people with any kind of diabetes have cure themself turning into a raw plant /fruit base diet. Don´t think that the manufactured sugar is the same sugar the fruits contain, that is a huge lie!!!.

I have people in my family who have blood sugar problems and I know what fruit does to their system and yes I already know that manufactured sugar is different and hard on the body, as is anything that is manufactured, the body doesn't know how to handle it, that's kinda a no brainer.

  • @SarahJ83 There is a cure to diabetes, people get cured by just changing their diet and then they can eat all the fruit they want. There are some people med that are publishing this info, where they have found that with greens and some plant they can regenerate the body (of course if you want to get your body clean and regenerated you can not eat anything cooked) please do the research and good luck i hope you can help your family. We do this because we use to eat and live according the "standar" and we realize, after a lot of force of will and time, that there is something better, that we humans are better than what we are thougth to be on this society. That is why we are trying to spread the word, is not for some foolish ego drama where i want to have the reason or something xD

There's a story paleos are pushing that type 2 diabetes arises from insulin resistance, and that insulin resistance cannot be cured and can only be managed by limiting one's (non-fiber) carb intake to 50 g / day or less, so your body is forced to use fat as energy, and fat, unlike carbs, does not require insulin to be used as energy.

For example, the component industry used to cristalize the sugar cause in the body the loss of calcium, that is why people get theeth problems. wheat have opioid peptides wich are addicted and behave like morphine on the brain. If you do a blood test with a person who has eat any cooked food it will leukocytes wich are the trash trucks of the body, that not happend with raw food. I recommend you to go and study more.

  • i live in canada and its freezing here like 8 months out of the year. as a vegan that just wouldnt work for me. i need warm, hot, stuff, unless you have any alternatives that im not aware of. the raw diet will work in the summer. there's more fruit/veg variety but not winter.

  • @nasim1473 That isn't a useful argument because one, you don't live outside and two, there's something called a heater. Your body will produce heat when you have calories to burn.

    Look at my channel. I'm a fruitarian, and I don't binge eat on fruit like @durianriders nor do I measure my calories in a day. I eat once every 24 hours until I'm full (look up MMA Vegetarian Hershel Walker Diet) except I eat nothing but fruits in that time period. Look up the benefits of fasting in relationship to growth hormone to understand where I am coming from. For example today I ate 8 apples and that was it (which only cost me 5.20$ and is approximately 360 calories)

    I have more muscle that you do and I am a much more versatile athlete (watch my youtube videos). Again I recommend you look up intermittent fasting and the relationship between glucose/insulin and growth hormone. While your ignorance is somewhat amusing and the advice you give is ridiculous and dangerous

  • Durianrider, if youre happy with your diet, stick with it. But it fails in the long run because people get 1) Anemic 2) Depressed 3) Insulin Resistance 4) orthorexia 5) Social isolation 6) Social disrupt (life will center itself to food) 7) Cravings in long run These symptoms won't show up in short term and usualy come within 5-15 years. But the good news is, you can still achieve great health as a vegan. Just get carbohydrates, get good fats and get your vegetables.

  • @fourp1ay Lance doesn't eat much meat, Micheal ramussen is a vegetarian and maybe a vegan I'm not sure (he's lactose intolerent I've heard so he must not eat dairy), Levi leipheimer is a vegetarian. Not really a cyclist I guess but triathlete dave scott was a vegan when he won all his hawaii ironman!

    There's many other cyclist who are vegetarian or even vegan.

  • Protein freaks should know that you just need to get "enough" of all the essential amino acids on a pretty much daily basis but after "enough" the rest of your calories are better coming from carbs given that fresh veg and fruit has all the anti-oxidants and other things needed for health. Occasional whole bugs/grabs mixed in make up for anything else deficient. 10% protein more than enough for most people.

  • @imnotabear The science of nutrition is what guides my views. Like I have stated before, SOME people will do fine on a Vegan diet, but most will eventually have problems. It has more to do with human nutritional requirements than FEELINGS. The biological availabilty nutrients in animal products is the so much higher than that in on animal sources.

    yesterday i got over 150grams of protein and that is WAY too much protein! I ate some raw soaked grains for a youtube vid. Too much protein I reckon, it just slows digestion more than it has too.

  • While their is protein in grains and nuts, their is far less per poundage than in meat. Also, the protein in these sources is of a different makeup and is less digestible than that in meat. If you eat a grass-fed, pasture-raised steak you will be getting a source of healthy protien that is low in saturated fat and high in healthy omega-3's, as well as B12. In your next doctor's visit, do a blood test. You will likely find that you are dangerously low in B12 and send the doctor into fits.

    Durianrider is actually strikingly healthy. Many low fat raw vegans DO look malnourished but he's hardly one of them.

  • Balance is the key. And for some, that balance is achieved by eating low protein... for others, more protein.

    Each human's body functions on a different combination of foods/types of foods. It's impossible for one person to declare "the ideal diet" for any other person.

    I'm a 100% raw/live food vegan, but I see no value in telling everyone else they must follow MY path.

  • Calories don't make any sense. But FRUIT does. Calories are energy - but it has nothing to do with the metabolism.

    Eat lots of fruit - but when you base it off calories - you get a warped result.

    People eat chocolate bars... but they don't give them any CALORIES... because chocolate bars don't have any REAL ...LIVING ENERGY.

    We no doubt need living food to sustain metabolism - but how much does the metabolism need every day? you need to be your own scientist - but calories won't tell you.

    However let's look at calories. They are heat. How much heat is produced.

    I don't see calorie-bombs have much to do with the body. Fat produces 4x the heat than Simple Sugar - but that doesn't mean that the body oxidises food like a calori bomb does.

    When studying the human body and its diet - we would be better off examining the structure of the animal - rather than the heat of food.

    Living Food is made up of electricity and radiations from the sun.  See?

  • 1. human mothers breastmilk is around 5-7% protein in terms of calories. this is when we are growing our fastest of our life. fruit is the same % of calories ie 5-7%.

    2. i get between 30g and 140g of RAW LIVE AMINO ACID PROTEIN per day depending on what raw plant foods im eating. if im riding 500km that day, im eating more the day before, during and after.

    3. how much protein do we need? according to the china study its optimum at 5% of total calories. same with UN and WHO. fruit is the best.

  • look. I did not want to go in to that, simply because its not a hard question and I am not google, but you need around 0.8 gr of protien per kg on a normal day and sportpeople need arond 1.5-2 gr of protien per kg per day. not just aminoacid, complete protein.

    so that means that 40 gr of protein in a day is more than enough for me on a normal day.

    is that what you meant? or is what you mean that you have been counting your

  • Ok.  That's about how much I get - 40 grams. A few seeds/nuts, 2 heads of lettuce, and fruit the rest of the time = right around 40 grams. It works out perfectly..... by no coincidence.

  • It is hard for people who are striving for mussel development to get maximal results on a vegan diet if they does not take suplements.

    Alot of studies on how much proteins a strength atlete need suggest atleast 1,4 g per kilogram and up to 1,6-1,8 on bigger groups and on long-term.

    Getting this much proteins is simply difficult being a vegan.

    i dont eat ANY animal products and im 6ft 180 lbs of solid muscle and im very strong, im obviously getting LOTS of high quality amino acids from somewhere.

    i can bench press 225 lbs for 8 reps and i only work out around 1x per week. You are a Moron

  • Did you actually get to be 180 pounds by eating only fruits and greens like this guy does? I tried this guy's diet and a regular vegan diet and I lost too much body fat but I think I kept all my muscle ('6 1' 145 pounds). It's made me more functional doing a diet like this guys, however I'm now very underweight. Am I suppose to stay on this diet long enough to start gaining?

  • 225 lbs 8 reps aint much. And I never said u couldent get any results at all, just that it would be hard to get optimal ones. This is based in statistical facts about the progress to groups of ppl eating different amounts of proteins. U cant argue away from that.

  • 1: I cant see ur logic at all. Unless ur extremely strong there is little that can tell wether u get optimal results or not. .Except from the studys about athletes and protein eating.. Through neuromuscular adaption i bet i could get ppl to rep 225x8 from eating chockolate, but that is besides the point. U are in good shape. Ur arguments are so extremely floud it is unbealivabel.

    Do u train ur whole body by the way? The LEGS for instance? If u dont u dont need as much proteins as otherwise.

  • My Logic is that im Obviously getting great high quality Amino Acids to build solid muscle and develop Strength on a Raw Vegan Diet.

    NO ONE can say im weak, especially since i only workout for 30 mins 1 day per week. and i can Bench press 225 lbs for 8 reps and i Weigh a very Healthy Muscular 180 lbs.

    Face it, your arguement that a Raw Vegan Diet is not healthy and cant build strength is totally False. You Obviously know NOTHING about Nutrition

  • @mctradewind Well, he is low in fat and has an ok build. I wonder how he would stack up against a person of similar build who eats meat. I must say again, it is not just the strength and build that could be severly lacking in vegans, but, nutritionally a vegan diet is imbalanced due to the fact that it avoids the benefits of meat, eggs and dairy.

  • What if u were born in the artic, in some tribe and all u have is whales and seals. What do you then? starve? When I see raw meat, my body craves it, it naturally wants to eat it, its appealing. I did not choose to do that. Yes in excess meat is bad, but in moderation is good for ya, we just have to be appreciative of what it takes to get it. Donte be so close minded because we are NOT only vegetarians, although some people make that choice and I respect it, you still kill plants to eat though.

  • I kill plants to eat because that is what I was designed for. Humans invented the technologies to hunt and then dispersed out of their optimal habitats to live the hunting lifestyle. I'm sorry if I appear close minded but I can't respect people who pay others to incarcerate, torture and slaughter other animals. Your preference for meat is only a trained thing, not a natural thing. Please explore this further and maybe you will find a new, pleasant diet.

  • How do you know we are not designed to eat meat, that's what I don't understand. I agree with u. I think our society has become unaware of the cruelty that goes behind meat production plus the pollution it creates. I think our whole civilization has been built in excess that's why we are destroying nature, etc. Yet, if your body can handle eating meat is because you can do it. I try to buy organic meat and range free eggs, etc. You cant disrespect people for being ignorant in the matter.

In my 50 years, I've gained enough experience of diet to know that everyone can live a much happier life as a vegan, with improved health, energy and connectedness with all creatures.   • I agree with your points. YouTube has many vids about horrendous cruelty to animals which is all part of the meat industry and what do we see written under it all the time? People carrying on like "that made me hungry" or "I like bacon". They have to, because they're full of deep down guilt. Guys who beat animals in factory farms have to otherwise they'd have to relate to the animal and face the reality of what they're doing. Nazis did in Auschwitz, Japanese soldiers did in Changi.

  • People are really touchy when you tell them you're a vegan because the implication is that they're doing something wrong. They're touchy because deep down they're guilty about their diet. They remember questioning it when they were very young. They become defensive and argumentative, deflective and full of justifications to make them feel safe. It's understandable really.

  • However, I'm not going to waste my energy arguing with people whom I've never met and have no reason to talk to as if they're an enemy. I'd rather exemplify the vegan ethos of person health, planetary health, empathy with others and sharing these things which have enriched my life.     Still I consider plants to be ALIVE and LIFE & they are sentient beings to an extent so I don't see the logic behind the higher morality behind veganism.

  • Yes, plants are alive, and they are a life form.

    But they don't have a brain, and therefore is no chance that they are aware of their existence, therefore I see no objection to killing them. At least that's my understanding.

    They can't suffer etc. There is no science evidence saying otherwise.

    Veganism isn't bland, and it's easy to get enough protein. Soy/tofo contains a complete protein, and then there are legumes and nuts.

    Though I'm not a raw vegan, so I'm talking about non-raw veganism.

    Is a human being who is in a coma and is brain dead any less of a person. They technically can't suffer but it still counts as life. I'm just saying that plants are life and that you are still taking that life if u eat vegetables.

    Veganism is bland COMPARED to world cuisine because you will never have the same variety I would enjoy.
