@ohmyitzgina i was gonna post a comment saying the same thing. it's all beautiful and then toward the end is like the fucking heartbreak or some shit. i stumbled upon this looking for amp demos and had no clue it was mayer until I read top comment, never would have known otherwise. Wish people didn't know so I could read some real comments that aren't bias'd either way, meaning wether you like Jm's tone or not

@OwensMusic1 Read the audition requirements. That'll give you a good rubric for your audition. Don't let idiots tell you that they "like Jazz guitar waaaaaay more". Part of the audition is jazz, but that's not the entire audition.
This is the audition guideline:
a prepared piece of your choice
a reading selection (if you can)
simple-form blues
an optional improvisation over a standard jazz tune or harmonic vamp
melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic ear training exercises
it looks like a normal youtuber cover, catching the body and tha guitar and all... but it's John Mayer, one fucking famous guitarrist. I love that phenomenon on this vid. Apart from tha music, that is also awesome.
I know what you mean. I remember when this was first uploaded and loads of the early comments were stuff like “oh he’s good but I doubt he could earn a living from playing guitar” guys using £9k worth of top end gear, of course he’s a pro. Oh and the user name gives it away a bit too.
@photodrift description dont say outherwise. u think because hes famous he dosent listen to the radio.. everyone knows mayer music is his personal account

@FreaquedeMusique No apology necessary. I've been thinking about what you said, and here's my opinion: I don't understand why tabs get such a bad rap. Sheet music tells players what to play, just in musical notation. However, what you also get with sheet music are tempo, dynamics, technique, etc.
Tabs are different. You have free license to do whatever you want with the notes listed. Sure, developing your ear is a must, but there is NOTHING wrong with consulting a tab over a piece of music.
@cowboycliche022 That's true, I do believe tabs are better than sheet music. I've always used tabs and I will be using them for probably forever, for things I just can't figure out by ear. But this piece is really easy and he shows us perfectly, that's why I think this is a perfect start for starting aural training. Thats why I think it's sort of a shame that there are tabs for this. How cool. All the time (and it´s been a while) I thought, this interlude is by far the coolest part of the whole Lovestoned LP.
