You make some good points but throwing TV it is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. There are legitimately good shows on TV, many of which are educational or very well done shows. It's just those are usually the ones ignored, so we zone out in front of Family Guy or pretty much anything broadcast on Fox.

These patents are messed up. Same concept, but how about video games? And the current push for a more virtual reality type of experience. ie- Microsoft Xbox Kinect, Wii, etc. Or the current 3D tvs coming out.

I'm not a big tv viewer and i recently found this out when all of a sudden my trusty old 70's model Japanese tv couldn't pick up digital so i was told i could buy a set top box that would enable me to get this new whizz bang tv signal but then i find my tv won't even take this set top box. If it wasn't for my missus i just wouldn't bother with it as i never watch much besides animal shows and political shows.Ppl think im weird as i have no mobile phone or flash tv wtf is that attitude about?
I still own my tv, I've just disconnected from cable. I've done so for several months now and don't miss a thing. Though I still download some shows off of torrent.
I found myself being agitated even after watching "Animal planet" or the discovery channel. I connected the dots and decided that the trade off of feeling bad from watching TV was not worth it. "I feel MUCH better now" ;)

Well done AT, I got rid of the telly, and the celly years ago, since then the mechanisms of manipulation have never been so obvious. It almost boggles the mind seeing others so oblivious. I've been leaving my tv off when I'm home alone for a few weeks now, when a friend came over recently he commented that the set was off I gave a vague answer we talked for another minute and he mentioned the tv again I tried to redirect the conversation back to the topic we were on he became more agitated the longer he stayed in my silent house he couldnt seem to concentrate and made excuses to get out of my house as soon as possible I had similar feelings when I started leaving the set off.

I found myself being agitated even after watching "Animal planet" or the discovery channel. I connected the dots and decided that the trade off of feeling bad from watching TV was not worth it. "I feel MUCH better now" ;)

After I watched zeitgeist, I couldnt even read a newspaper for a week. After that, I think of it as being behind enemy lines. I'm from Canada, and I'm with Rogers, which switches to AT&T when I'm visiting the States. A month or two ago there was an article in the Montreal Gazette explaining how the CEO of Rogers has plans to incorporate all government IDs and bank cards into your phone. I fgure it's the first step to condition us to accept the rfid chip.

I probably haven’t owned a TV 30 some years, guess I got more interested in reading old mathematics treatises and found myself developing skills that probably haven’t been cultivated in a modern curriculum in a hundred years, I have given this subject “TV “some thought my feeling is it effects people on a number of levels such as they way people processes information and interact in a family setting, I don’t see too many well grounded families anymore. The fact that we sit down and talk? Well done AT, I got rid of the telly, and the celly years ago, since then the mechanisms of manipulation have never been so obvious. It almost boggles the mind seeing others so oblivious. There is a higher more mysterious science behind it though, it's effects on the psyche can be observed in the way most people will react when one attempts to explain this matter to them, like it has a built in defense mechanism, dampening it's subjects ability to break out of the trance.

Pixels that were actually acting as a camera, if you will, transmitting pictures of US back to the computer! We also know that we can see objects because of light reflecting off of the surfaces of them. I've been leaving my tv off when I'm home alone for a few weeks now, when a friend came over recently he commented that the set was off I gave a vague answer we talked for another minute and he mentioned the tv again I tried to redirect the conversation back to the topic we were on he became more agitated the longer he stayed in my silent house he couldnt seem to concentrate and made excuses to get out of my house as soon as possible I had similar feelings when I started leaving the set off.

Back when I used to watch tv I'd get irritated when commercials and to a lesser extent the normal programming, would flash images at me so fast that I wouldn't have time to decide if it was bogus or not. I'd turn my head or avert my eyes. Finally it just got too irritating and I gave away my tv. Shortly after that I started waking up. I've been clean for 3 years now. It sure frees up time for more useful things.

i stopped watching tv in 2006.. its amazing how muc hinformation is out there when you look up from the feeding troff of the main stream media cess pit.

Well said, I find most people are living their lives according to the television station`s. They look to cornation street,etc, as a paradawn people belive that if its on the NEWS, its true.H1N1 man made bio weapon`s,very sad to hear a teenager tell me, FOR GODS SAKE, do you never watch the NEWS, am I thick !Vaccine for H1N1, her mom, doesnt want her to, but can not stop her, HSE, have decided that at 16 yrs old she is able to make her own medical decision !!! A VERY UNINFORMED DECISION,
