@miliko1983 Entiendo y comparto lo que decís. Yo vivo fuera de Argentina hace casi 10 años. Me fuí el 18/12/01, justo... Nada mas llegar a mi destino vi la revoluta que me acababa de perder. Estos informes empezaron a revolotear y al principio me indigné, pero enseguida me di cuenta: se toca la fibra para movilizar. Eso puede hacerse con buenas o malas intenciones. Firstly, the islanders are not English (neither cultural nor ethnically) as they are mainly of Scottish and Welsh descent (they also have some South American ancestry).
The islanders speak with a unique dialect and have their own customs and traditions which cannot be found anywhere else. They are as unique as the Austrians or Canadians and are just as entitled to self-determination.
This is why the UK says that the sovereignty of the islands is determined by the islanders.

In the 19th century, the British did go around the world conquering land and imposing its sovereignty on people (which was shameful) but the UK doesn’t do that anymore. Argentina however, in the 21st century, wants to take over land and it doesn’t care about the views of its inhabitants.

But Argentina's current strategy is a 'dead-end'. The UK will never go against the Constitution of the Islands or EU law (not to mention its own law), and the islanders will never negotiate with a country or a government that continues to bully and harass them.
The Argentine government always says it would respect the islanders if they joined Argentina. So why not start respecting them now? This would build trust and make negotiations on sovereignty more likely in the future.

@miliko1983 Entiendo y comparto lo que decís. Yo vivo fuera de Argentina hace casi 10 años. Me fuí el 18/12/01, justo... Nada mas llegar a mi destino vi la revoluta que me acababa de perder. Estos informes empezaron a revolotear y al principio me indigné, pero enseguida me di cuenta: se toca la fibra para movilizar. Eso puede hacerse con buenas o malas intenciones. Si no me equivoco, para ponerse de acuerdo en cuestiones básicas internacionales, como por ejemplo las situaciones coloniales y dar curso a la eliminación de las mismas. Si las cosas fueran como vos decís, la ONU ni siquiera se hubiera molestado en hacer una resolución como la 2065(XX) que insta a las partes a negociar. Creo que las intenciones originales y espíritu de las Naciones Unidas es ayudar a pequeños territorios colonizados defender sus derechos, para que puedan determinar su propio futuro. El espíritu de las Naciones Unidas se trata de apoyar a las personas y no apoyar la construcción del imperio. Se trata de apoyar la libre determinación como fundamental derecho humano.

La resolución 1514 es una declaración amplia, en la cual no se especifica el alcance del derecho de autodeterminación. La resolución 1514 fue adoptada el 14 de diciembre de 1960, y establece básicamente dos conceptos que estan en conflicto: por un lado el derecho a la autodeterminación de los pueblos coloniales, y por otro el principio........

En este caso la metrópoli es el Reino Unido. Como resultado, no tiene en plenitud el derecho a la autodeterminación. @Medeasbiggestfan Y cuando digo no pueden decidir este conflicto, no pueden por ejemplo declarar su independencia aduciendo autodeterminación( no la tienen plenamente según lo que cité sobre la misma ONU), como estrategia para terminar con los reclamos Argentinos.
Los isleños son parte de este problema de soberanía; una solución diplomática debe contemplarlos, pero no son ellos solos los que pueden decidir esta cuestión; es una cuestión entre los estados Argentinos y el Reino Unido.

Los isleños son una mezcla de gente de Escocia y Gales, además de descendientes de inmigrantes de muchos otros países (especialmente de América del Sur y Japón). Durante los últimos 200 años, la cultura de los isleños ha evolucionado de manera muy diferente a la del Reino Unido.
La cultura de los isleños es tan único como las culturas de Australia, Nueva Zelanda y Canadá.

It is obvious that they are well in agreement to continue denying Argentine rights, and not recognize even a bit of these rights. Devise a strategy based on a right that does not exist in full (as I showed you, they do not have full self-determination), and stagnate the negotiations indefinitely.

Firstly, the islanders are not English (neither cultural nor ethnically) as they are mainly of Scottish and Welsh descent (they also have some South American ancestry).
The islanders speak with a unique dialect and have their own customs and traditions which cannot be found anywhere else. They are as unique as the Austrians or Canadians and are just as entitled to self-determination.
This is why the UK says that the sovereignty of the islands is determined by the islanders.

Also, I've read resolution 1541 and its spirit is clear. It was meant to protect people of Non-Self-Governing Territories and to help them either integrate into a larger nation or become independent. Its spirit is not intended to help a large nation conquer land against the wishes of the people living there.

I was referring to Argentina when I talked about a large nation wanting to conquer land against the wishes of the people living there.
You say I over-generalising the principle of self-determination, but UN Resolution 1514 states that all peoples have the right to self-determination (you can't get more general than that).

In the 19th century, the British did go around the world conquering land and imposing its sovereignty on people (which was shameful) but the UK doesn’t do that anymore. Argentina however, in the 21st century, wants to take over land and it doesn’t care about the views of its inhabitants.

But Argentina's current strategy is a 'dead-end'. The UK will never go against the Constitution of the Islands or EU law (not to mention its own law), and the islanders will never negotiate with a country or a government that continues to bully and harass them.
The Argentine government always says it would respect the islanders if they joined Argentina. So why not start respecting them now? This would build trust and make negotiations on sovereignty more likely in the future.

@kaikovich En Malvinas, Argentina no hizo nada para defender las islas aparte de aislados esfuerzos personales, y aun asi UK apoyada por Chile, USA, etc casi perdio la guerra, asique a mi no me cabe duda que los Españoles podrian recuperar Gibraltar en cuestion de segundos.

@kaikovich no sè de donde sos, pero en el diario "Malvinense", dicen que España no apoya el reclamo argentino, por los intereses que tienen en la pesca en nuestro mar.
Si esto es realmente asì, personalmente voy a considerar Gibraltar como territorio britànico. Si ellos no nos defienden y son aliados de los ingleses, que se maten entonces.

La pesca ahi estara compartida con 27 paises en el caso q fueran argentinas seria solo de 1 pais y podria a lo mjor compartir algo mas

Qué distintos que estaríamos si hubiésemos ganado esta guerra, si los vendepatrias y traiconeros chilenos y estadounidenses no nos hubiesen vendido así. ¿Ser pobre es delito, es pecado? Una persona decente jamás debería burlarse de otra por ser pobre o por tener compatriotas que viven en la pobreza. Eso demuestra tu "escala de valores" en que parece alegrarte que otros estén en mala situación. Es inexplicable tu odio y no sé que cuento es ese de "ser europeos". Nada más lamentable que el estrechar la mano con gente que usurpa tierras que muy lejos están de sus propios territorios y aun en el siglo XXI mantienen colonias ilegales. Como chileno te debería dar vergüenza haber sido un instrumento de ayuda para traicionar a tu pueblo hermano, ya que de haber sido al revés la situación, Argentina te hubiese prestado apoyo incondicional.
