I know that in Portuguese, the "o" after the "a" with the tilde makes the diphthong sound almost like the umlaut long "o" in German...it is equivalent to the "er" as in the word "feather".
This song is amazing - heard it for the first time over 15 yrs ago at a dance convention. We did a combo to it - made a life-long impression on me. :46 in - drums are fantastic! No stopping the hip action from there on out!
@lindenly22 Actually I dont think the author had the intention of using the word "te" as meaning the pronom of the 2nd person of singular form. But just making sounds like an "onomatopéia" or sounds of something. Or maybe nothing. We have a lot of songs that use this source to make it easy to sing. Skank does that a lot. See Garota Nacional or Noites de um verão qualquer or Te Ver. And I think "meu dever de verao" would be better translated as "my summer duty or my summer obligation".
@lindenly22 also, it is rojao, not rogao. It is a kind of firework used specially in our June parties (Festa Junina or Saint John party in the month of June).
LOL my boyfriend is mixed with brazilian and he tries to teach me this song and dammit its too fast man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh!!!!! im more lingual in spanish but portuguese is a HELL NO for me....but i just love learning other cultures <3
El cohete de Magalenha viene, él / ella traen la contraseña para cocina.. Usted usted usted el corazón. Hoy son un día de sol, felicidad de pasión, mi deber de verano.
usted usted usted usted usted
el calangulango, del calango del pretinha, para cantar esa planta de semilla para dama recordar, de eso que el tiempo que vivía ahí en el país con una hija en el estómago y otra hija para ella crea.
brazilian!! thats wat it is. lmao. i never knew. i always thought it sounded african but they're speakin wit a little spanish n i kno africans dnt speak spansh. lol
Hey i Gonna Guve y'all a little Help,,,,Hahaha Im Brazilian.....
LYric- TRanslated
Come Magalenha firecracker, bring the wood for the stove, come to set a trap. Today is a sunny day, joy for the fool is enjoying the summer. The lizardeezard, the little black girl's lizard, I'm singing this popular song, for you to remember the time you lived there in the hinterland, with a daughter in your belly and another one to bring up
@WELLINGTON123445 very gud i have slighty diff way, but itz all the same meanings really and thank you for clarifying to many people wat calangulango is, they dont realize that is jus a lizard but a word used and made up by African slaves

Great music, but the text is a bit wrong...
it means "naquele tempo que eu vivia LÁ na roça",
@WELLINGTON123445 - boa tradução, nem eu poderia ter feito melhor! ;-)

I am also studying Portuguese, and I know a little bit of Latin. The additional Portuguese lyrics, then, can be roughly translated thus....
"Te te te te coracao"--roughly means "your your your heart."
"meu dever de verao"--roughly means "you must owe or give debt to me of the summer". Even better: "Summer must give debt to me."
"Fogao" can also mean "fire", and "rogao", relates to the red color, like the fusee Italians use as fireworks, but it can also mean "flame."

"trae la contraseña"? de donde salio esa traduccion?
Seguramente uno de esos traductores automaticos tradujo la palabra "lenha" como "log". Lenha significa leña, "firewood"
Agusados ahi, no se vayan con la finta.
