  • my band director is from this school. Though I am not a fan of the corps style, this band does it really well. If our director is going to make us a corps style band, which will upset quite a few people, the least he could do is make it all theatrical like his old school. Good job, guys

  • this show was better in 1997, but Naperville still did good with it.

  • Go Marching Huskies!

  • You guys ruled i loved your show at ISU

  • Wow just Wow...XD

  • Congratulations on taking 2nd in your class and 4th overall in State Competition at ISU with this show! Fabulously entertaining show!

  • yea go nnhs band i am the mini cop by the way but you guys know me as the nfd at the football games nice job go nnhs you guys rule! nice pit and drum line!

  • Ive seen this show and its all about the guard, and the guard is acting, not even doing mainly flag work, saber work, air blade work or rifle work, its a big showy story where the band hardly marches or plays strongly and not good marching music. I love the show idea but it isnt marching band at all.and if you watch it from press box not seeing the 'guard' up close all you see is subsequent marching and people running around the field not doing any guard work. . . . . .

  • they still managed to win wheeling.

  • not once, through that entire show, did I ever look at the band.

How is that what marching band is about. I do not understand.

  • I saw the show on the preview night, it looks so much better with props and makeup and everything! Dean does make a good Charlie Chaplin. :3

Wish I coulda stayed in MB...stupid thyroid issues. ;~; I promise to come to one of the competitions in the future though!

  • Mr. Mohr (sp?) did this show at Limestone High School several years ago. My brother was in it, I remember seeing it. You guys do a really good job. :) And yeah, there is a lot of acting in this, but the music sounds really good! I'm in marching band at Limestone this year, our show is cool, I wish we had more acting though! Great job guys! :D

  • Mr. Moore.

And yeah, he was saying that this show was based off of one of his old favorites. I know he rewrote certain sections, like the drum breaks and the pit's been moved and there are just different changes that he made when he revisited it. It'd be so cool to see the video from like 12 years ago or so, though.

And thanks so much! We really do appreciate when people enjoy our show.

  • Sorry , Good Job @ Wheeling !

  • the show is good, if you actually watch the band. if you focus on the acting, duh youre gonna say that the show is all about the acting. this video is mainly focused on the actors, not the band. watch the band next time, before you go trashing NN.

  • sorry, i took this stuff off, shouldve kept my mouth shut. i read over the stuff i wrote again and i felt bad about it. it was disrespectful for me to say those things. good luck for the rest of your season.

  • same here

  • trumpetkid93, Dohbz18 and christcubs what schools are you from? (just curious...) I saw this a few days ago and thought it was fantastic, I come back today and see all this...I couldn't not say something. 1. Marching band is NOT about who plays and marches the most complicated show, it's about playing and marching the piss out of whatever show you're in and hopefully brightening a few peoples days because it was fun/entertaining/emotional to watch.

  • 2. This show was ridiculously fun to watch, and I'm usually not the biggest fan of props...

Anyways I like your show, I can't wait to see it live if I actually make it down to state this year.

  • I wouldn't say marching band is completely about the audience and brightening a few faces... Demand should be rewarded if performed well; why not challenge and push yourselves? Personally I would much rather have a difficult show, perfect it, and peak at the end of the season then add all the GE within the first few weeks and peak 2 weeks before state.

Marching band is about pushing yourself over and beyond what you believe you are capable of. Only then will you find true excellence.

  • Thats what the "marching the piss out of whatever show you're in" part meant. I'd rather be in a complex show as well, it's more fun to challenge yourself, but regardless if the show is campy and easy or if it's difficult and emotional, you should still march the piss out of it because then you'll be the best possible.

The audience was just another part. Perhaps I should have emphasized the excellence part more...

hehe that almost sounds like a Snoeck quote ;-) well said though.

  • i am in vja also and its just not my thing here. everyone will like their own show... congrats though for ur placement but i will say that our drumline owns

  • yes, ur drumline does

  • hey, it is also like the first competition of the season so I bet you could point out just as many faults in any other show, it may be a different type of show (one that I don't particuarly like) but its still there show and people may like its just a different style that is all, no reson to harass them.

  • Dear trumpetkid93, Dohbz18 and christcubs cut it out. Stop harassing Naperville North. I'll tell Mr. R if this keeps going on. Good job Naperville! Keep up the good work.

  • trumpetkid93, Dohbz18 and christcubs - it's really not classy to leave disrespectful comments on a video of another band's show. They work just as hard as we do.

  • wow guys really? get over it! u know ur just jealous and helloooo any1 can see the the ppl filming this r focusing on the acting. wait until u see the show from above. the band drill is really cool! and did u even hear the music?? its awesome. this is a great example of a marching BAND

  • Our show is tougher than it looks and we do have very cool drill and I agree with you MissKriss09 but this is the first video i have ever seen of our marching band that actually shows most of the guard/actor work which is nice since this was the first comp. we can see what needs to be changed and fixed. But I totally prefer videos that show everything that is happening not just the guard. And as a guard girl i can tell you its not always fun to be the spot light of the show.

  • I agree with you on that one! It's nearly impossible to judge a show form a video, because they almost never show what is supposed to be the focus of the show. Or maybe vice versa, that they focus too much on one thing.

    Good point, huskieflag!

  • aww, you never get to see our cool drill :(, and trust me, our show is a lot tougher than you'd think

  • the guard is really good and everything..

but the marching "band" isn't really doing anything... it's not that hard of a show..

  • I beg to differ.
