Hooked on nails has a good commentary on mma. If you google it its worth reading. I think this video is a bit of a hype. Her products are great, but this video is a bit sensationalist. Dont take my word for it.... or hers. Read up on it
I think she only talks slower to be understood and to keep from talking over consumers' heads. Any good instructor would want to be understood w/o repetition. She could throw big words at non-professionals all day & you'll have a 'duh' look on your face. MMA acrylics causes upper respiratory conditions and when I first attended a nail class, i became overly sensitive to cats and dust. It can't be reversed if it's from longterm exposure. I wish I had known, because this happened at SCHOOL!
I have had women of all colors coming to me to soak off the MMA acrylics. Once you are aware & properly educated by such nail industry giants as Tammy Taylor to make a choice, you will be better off. It sometimes takes 2 hours of soaking in acetone (which, LONG exposure to it, is also a threat) and buffing to remove them. The proper acrylics should soak off in less than 30 minutes. I solved the problem: I switched to gels and the advanced technology has made them the "IT" thing to wear!
I have noticed that only white women preach this, and the women in their salons are older white women whose nails LOOK like they are acrylic. I don't know what this is about, but I am a grown woman and I know what the risks are of going to cheaper salons. I also know that there is no competition: 2 hours for a full set versus 45 minutes for a full set. $15 for a fill versus $30 for a fill...yeah, I will go with Hyung Noon Sum over Tammy Taylor anyday.
thats pretty ignorant. I'm not a white woman (im verrrry black indeed), but I'm all about my nail heath which is why I no longer go to "discount" salons. I go to Dashing Diva nail chain. Its a bit more expensive but I'm happy to know that my nails wont fall off or I wont get a nasty infection. I guess you haven't seen some of the HORROR videos on here. You should really take a look as you are chancing yourself out of good health.
Very true, as ignorance means not knowing, but please take a look that I said "I have noticed." That makes it a personal experience thing, not a ignorance thing. I also posted that I know the risks and I choose to take them. Horror stories or not, I have been getting my nails done at discount salons for 7 years now and I have not had a problem as of yet. When I do have a problem, I will chalk it up to bad choice and move on.
Holy cow. You actually proved that someone can miss an entire point. Congrats. Sorry if you are Korean and I offended you, I was just trying to be funny. Are your feelings less hurt now?
The ignorance of the comments are exactly why a video like this is needed lol Too bad most of you are too dumb to listen to the message she is trying to get across. Hope you are happy with your deformed nails and nail fungus.
Now, if you think you know so much about nails, then you should know that when taking off nails they will not damage them if you are a professional nail tech and you know what you are doing, now no2 it seems like you just want to sell your product and scare off consumers who really don't know the nail technology. People can trust their instincts we are not stupid.
She's right you know! I never realized until I got older how cheap and ignorant most of us Americans are.
We always seem to choose the cheapest and quickest way to get something done, never stopping to consider the consequences! For example: Lead in our toys and poisons in our food! Wake up people.
Agree with only number 3. The chemical she is refering to is probably a form of methyl methacrylate. It is the same liquid they used in the dental labs and mixed with acrylic powder etc. They use it in the nail salon which is illegal and does smell quite strong. They can buy it by the gallons instead cheap instead of the right chemical whick significantly costs more.
#1 some nails salons may have lots of odor because of lots of MMA nails (it's illegal for a reason people!)
#2 total BS. Regular acrylic does not take long to soak off. Now if you have MMA acrylic on and it takes forever to soak off of course it's going to affect your surrounding skin.
I am in school to be a nail tech and my school uses Tammy Taylor. So I get to listen to this in 6 + videos. Its exhausting.lol

It may seem boring but its very true, these salons should be banned world wide, they give the nail industry a bad name.

Wow, okay, the people that go to nail salons aren't 5 years old. Speak normal. How retarded.

# number 1... some nail salons may have lots of odor because of lots of nails...
# 2... some people do not want to soak them off with nail remover... because they makes your cuticals dry and bad. so filling is a better choice...
# 3... were not 5 years old talk normal...
# 4... Low prices may be because they have low rent. or other salon prices.
