People don't seem to understand: this a a song emphasizing that the Russians DO love their children, Sting is asking a rhetorical question when he sings "I hope the Russians love their children too" He was inspired to write this song by watching pirated RUssian TV late on friday night in New York. It was early SUnday morning in RUssia, and the programs on where kid's programs like the RUssian version of sesame street. After see the care with which the programs were made, he wrote this song.

@permyak59 This record was not propaganda. the whole point, as far as I see, was to emphasise that both sides had a great deal to lose and to emphasise the common humanity of people of the (then) west and east.
If one side or the other had committed to nuclear warfare, it would have meant similar and great suffering for the side which was the aggressor. Also, if you are aiming criticism at the empirical ambitions of my home islands, can I suggest that you are very many decades behind the times

Put children in a room from every culture and they will all play together with out any problems, it;s what Adults put in their minds when they are young, that is the problem, they believe what we tell them and grow up thinking it is correct.
