i think these are genically modified chimps released in the late 90s. otherwise th ey wud of been discovered and most proberly hunted and used 4 medical experiments. thats wat you call irony?
@johnsmdm I'll bet these things are the result of crossbreeding with gorillas, but scientists would never say so because they insist chimps are more closely related to humans than gorillas.
Chimpanzees, our closest relatives, eat meat as well. Chimps can be quite violent and wage wars on other neighboring chimp groups. We don't swing too far from the tree.
There is a small vid of them in the wild taken in the Congo by a chimp reasearcher. It is only a few seconds long but it clearly shows a HUGE male chimp! The pics taken show that unlike other chimps, they make nests like Gorrilas. The locals say they come down from the hills and have tipped over cars, attacked and carried off kids and dogs too. They are called "Billi chimps". Also, the US military has released footage they took of them while doing counter terrorism activities in the Congo.
@IrenaScott They (Kermit, Darrell, Sarah, Sheba, Bobby, Keeli, Ivy, Harper, and Emma)were at Ohio State Univ. Chimp Center, but they were movied to Primarily Primates in San Antonio, TX. I love to see humans caring for animals like this but I can't help the feeling that all animals just need to stay in their natural jungle habitat regardless of how close to extinction the species may be. that just means it's their natural time to die out.
@strapinhotpockets well there's a difference between natural extinction, and extinction caused by other means.. ahem.. hunting... ahem.. habitat distruction... ahem.. meteor..
@strapinhotpockets It wouldn't really be their "natural" time to die out because the biggest threat to them in the wild are human poachers. They can cut their hands and feet off and sell them for more money than most people over there make in years of hard work. Locking them up is becoming the only way to even keep them alive. Sad.
@strapinhotpockets Yes but in the truest sense its all natural, we are evolved creatures like them so if we decide to save them, that is nature. Also the reason most species die out these days is directly the fault of humans.
(Sorry, youve probably recieved this exact reply a million times)
what advantage does having super strong glass give if people are basicaly upseting these apes. maybe oneway glass would keep them calmer and less threatened also digital projection of a jungle on the wall, they look like inmates, poor guys, scary
Wish I could live in a cate and have everything handed to me! Lol. Instead I work 65 hours works and have 3 children to look after. They look healthy to me. Probably healthier than most people.
After watching this and reading the description I'm both amazed and devastated. Amazed by the fact that this member of a seemingly different species of Chimpanzee appears to show signs of intelligence and what this would mean for science and our understanding of ourselves. Devastated by the fact that more wasn't done to protect him. We could have learned so much from him and perhaps he from us. I feel a strong kinship with these creatures.
You are right about the head bobbing, but in this case they were getting agitated because of people there. This is not to belittle caging chimpanzees, left alone they will move their head back and forth, they pull their fur/hair, bite their fingers, excessive masturbation, corprophagia (eats feces), and regurgitation.
@beaner23ful Lets just say that brock lesnar would no longer b the champ. One of those giant chimps even a small normal chimp would slam him around uncontrollably several times worst than what a man could do to a woman.
Chimps didn't evolve into humans, we have a common ancestor. Think of it like this, you and your cousin share a common grandparent(or great uncle/aunt) so therefore you are related to them distantly. The Bonobo is a lot more like us than these apes.
@m1aws perhaps, bu they live a simple life, have no responsibilities, and are probably just bored and having fun. its hard to be driven mad when you have it so easy in life.
um, that is a huge, um, uh, really huge um, huge chimp huh? um, imagine um, uhhhhh, having one of those um, rip... uh, rip a person um... apart right?
"Unfortunately to the dismay of the researchers (who chained themselves to the compound fence) and everyone else, Kermit and the other chimpanzees were moved to another facility. Kermit died there soon after the move. This is a great loss, not only to science, but to the researchers, and his many human and animal friends."
Fuckers he was doing good where he lived before, just let those "new spieces" quiet.
Damn...I didnt realize just how big that chimp was until I could see him next to the girl on the other side of the glass......I'd say he's a bit BIGGER than a normal human, at least in some respects (wider shoulders, etc.) I wonder if these guys are distant cousins of Bigfoot? Then again perhaps that last question is a tad bit retarded...so I retract it..LOL!
why do you people feel you need to capture and cage every animal there is...Let these chimps live free in the wild like meant to be....Gods gonna get ya for that
Does anyone know more about the bi-pedal ape written about in the side bar at the bottom? Basicly a bi-pedal, much much larger ape that carries things and howls at the moon. Not like this large chimp. ANYONE?????
Pound for pound humans are the most pathetic creatures in the animal kingdom. If you pitted an "Unarmed" human against any animal of the same weight, the human will almost always loose. But, put a pointy stick in our hands and we become one of the most deadly predatory creatures in the animal kingdom.
@lemmyliquor That sounds kind of credible at first...but...you dont seem realize how strong these animals are...this animal, full grown, could possibly tear a limb from you and beat you with it...a human...and I dont care who it is...would not stand a CHANCE against one of these animals...thats why we have the large brains we do so we dont have to compete physically with beasts of nature...I promise you, you nor any human on this planet wants to tussle with one of these guys...believe it.
@fateofnate I feel like an geek saying this, but you're right, because humans have a mix of 2 different types of muscles (forgot what they're called), one is pure power and the other is more for endurance, because we are "designed" to track and hunt prey over long distances, whereas chimps muscles are almost completely that very powerful type, so even the strongest human would get ripped apart by the weakest chimp. sorry, I read this in a Scientific American once and it blew my mind lol
Humans have three types of muscle; skeletal, smooth and cardiac. There are two subtypes of skeletal muscle (the ones you were referring to); slow twitch (good for endurance) and fast twitch. Fast twitch muscle has three major kinds, some of which contract not only faster, but also with greater force than slow twitch muscle. Fast twitch, however, is not good for endurance.
appearance more closely resembling humans than that of the Common Chimpanzee (see: bipedal Bonobos). The Bonobo also has highly individuated facial features, as humans do, so that one individual may look significantly different from another, a characteristic adapted for visual facial recognition in social interaction.
These comments are a little of topic for the most part.

These apes can do terrible things to a human. God forbid if one of these chimps gets loose. One t his size could kill a human in a minute.

These are called Bili Apes, look them up, they actually have a wiki now too.

oasis11991 1 year ago
Damn...I didnt realize just how big that chimp was until I could see him next to the girl on the other side of the glass......I'd say he's a bit BIGGER than a normal human, at least in some respects (wider shoulders, etc.) I wonder if these guys are distant cousins of Bigfoot? Then again perhaps that last question is a tad bit retarded...so I retract it..LOL!

Does anyone know more about the bi-pedal ape written about in the side bar at the bottom? Basicly a bi-pedal, much much larger ape that carries things and howls at the moon. Not like this large chimp. ANYONE?????
mrtruthify 1 year ago
Pound for pound humans are the most pathetic creatures in the animal kingdom. If you pitted an "Unarmed" human against any animal of the same weight, the human will almost always loose. But, put a pointy stick in our hands and we become one of the most deadly predatory creatures in the animal kingdom.

i think an accomplished martial artist (bruce lee, mas oyama) etc.... could beat a raging chimp
lemmyliquor 1 year ago
@lemmyliquor and put a weapon in that martial artists hand , and uve got a master of the universe!
bezerka 1 year ago
@lemmyliquor That sounds kind of credible at first...but...you dont seem realize how strong these animals are...this animal, full grown, could possibly tear a limb from you and beat you with it...a human...and I dont care who it is...would not stand a CHANCE against one of these animals...thats why we have the large brains we do so we dont have to compete physically with beasts of nature...I promise you, you nor any human on this planet wants to tussle with one of these guys...believe it.
fateofnate 1 year ago
@fateofnate I feel like an geek saying this, but you're right, because humans have a mix of 2 different types of muscles (forgot what they're called), one is pure power and the other is more for endurance, because we are "designed" to track and hunt prey over long distances, whereas chimps muscles are almost completely that very powerful type, so even the strongest human would get ripped apart by the weakest chimp. sorry, I read this in a Scientific American once and it blew my mind lol
1994AlmostSkater 1 year ago
@1994AlmostSkater
But yes, chimps are deceptively strong :-)

appearance more closely resembling humans than that of the Common Chimpanzee (see: bipedal Bonobos). The Bonobo also has highly individuated facial features, as humans do, so that one individual may look significantly different from another, a characteristic adapted for visual facial recognition in social interaction.
These comments are a little of topic for the most part.

These are not new. 6 foot tall chimps have been around for thousands of years. They had videos of these attacking humans from the 1990s.
