the reason hemp is not practical today is because production of it is so ridiculously regulated. the less there is of something in the world, the more valuable it is.
if hemp were grown as widespread as it could be, it would be a much more obvious choice for the 50,000+ products it can be used to make.

Well what ever happens in California this coming Tuesday.... will it be legalized, or not? Personally, I would rather it just stay legal for medical patients until it can be globally recognized once again as a medicine. I am pro-hemp, and hemp is not pot. You would have to smoke that entire car to get high from hemp. Hemp can provide food, clothing, automobile materials, and just about anything we could think of. We could end our addiction to oil by making soy/hemp plastics and America could be alive again if we allowed farmers to grow the crops and used the product as stated above.
It would be better if the hemp we grew had a high THC count..that way farmers could also sell it for medicine and recreational use. Cotton, incidentally, is a terribly energy intensive crop, and has a tendency to deplete topsoil. @MrSafetymeeting Actually, Henry Ford wanted to use hemp plastics, fibers, lubricants and fuels because he had acres of hemp growing, and he KNEW what it would mean for him to be able to supply his own raw materials for his cars, from his own farmland.
If you think that Ford is profitable today, just imagine if he'd been allowed to grow the raw materials on his own land effectively for free, and THEN sold his cars made with those materials, and fuelled by them as well!

You can grow hemp *anywhere*. Farmers from Califonia to New York State and everywhere in between can grow hemp. Hemp is grown from Nigeria (tropics and high humidity) and Afghanistan (arid mountains).

@darthvader5300 I disagree. The problem with the "no THC" strains of cannabis is that they are not as vibrant a plant as the original varieties from which industrial hemp came from. It is said that hemp should have about 3% THC content to protect itself from sun damage.
Personally, I know that they'll never repeal prohibition on one type of cannabis, it'll be an all-or-nothing package, and if you really looked into it, you'd see that is also the best possible option for everyone.

the reason hemp is not practical today is because production of it is so ridiculously regulated. the less there is of something in the world, the more valuable it is.
if hemp were grown as widespread as it could be, it would be a much more obvious choice for the 50,000+ products it can be used to make.

Well what ever happens in California this coming Tuesday.... will it be legalized, or not? Personally, I would rather it just stay legal for medical patients until it can be globally recognized once again as a medicine. It IS a medicine, and I find it annoying how so many "stoners" don't even know that is is beneficial. They just think it's a party drug to get high. When it's legalized, that will not change-- the masses still believe it is a party drug and have no clue about its true potential.

I am pro-hemp, and hemp is not pot. You would have to smoke that entire car to get high from hemp. Hemp can provide food, clothing, automobile materials, and just about anything we could think of. We could end our addiction to oil by making soy/hemp plastics and America could be alive again if we allowed farmers to grow the crops and used the product as stated above.

Thousands of African and Indian women die each year from cancers directly attribitable to inhalling large volumes of smoke from cooking fires.
Smoking causes cancer and lung diseases , thats a fact.

The U.S. Patent by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services #6630507 states that cannibinoids are antioxidants and neuroprotectants. There are more than 60 therapeutic compounds in cannabis that are healing agents in medical and herbal treatments. The primary one is THC, which inhibits and kills cancer cells.

It's like multivitamins; they say if you're healthy you don't really need them, but hey, if you're already healthy and looking to boost that health of yours, then taking the vitamins would indeed benefit you still. there is even evidence supporting the theory that cannabinoids have tumor-fighting qualities. people who smoke *only* cannabis do not have increased risk of lung cancer.

@EpsteezyFoSheezy if anything, I am a slave to reason. The argument presented here is that hemp is a beneficial CROP, that was unfairly mailgned to protect cotton interests. Cotton, incidentally, is a terribly energy intensive crop, and has a tendency to deplete topsoil. (but cotton is really comfortable so I can see where tensions would run high (can't fuck with the Hanes MAN!))

There is NO addiction to THC. THC has not harmed anyone EVER. I mean seriously, what would the side effects be by smoking this? Sleep? Eat? Sleep some more. @MrSafetymeeting Actually, Henry Ford wanted to use hemp plastics, fibers, lubricants and fuels because he had acres of hemp growing, and he KNEW what it would mean for him to be able to supply his own raw materials for his cars, from his own farmland.
If you think that Ford is profitable today, just imagine if he'd been allowed to grow the raw materials on his own land effectively for free, and THEN sold his cars made with those materials, and fuelled by them as well!

One word: POWER. You get power from monopolies, and oil is something that exists only a few places on earth.
You can grow hemp *anywhere*. Farmers from Califonia to New York State and everywhere in between can grow hemp. Hemp is grown from Nigeria (tropics and high humidity) and Afghanistan (arid mountains).
You can't limit availability without the law. That is why it is illegal.

The French has already a new true 0% THC hemp strain called Santhica. and that is the only hemp strain that must and should only be legalized and encouraged by the U.S government, so no problems with the dangers of drug addiction because it is virtually THC-free!

@darthvader5300 I disagree. The problem with the "no THC" strains of cannabis is that they are not as vibrant a plant as the original varieties from which industrial hemp came from. It is said that hemp should have about 3% THC content to protect itself from sun damage.
Personally, I know that they'll never repeal prohibition on one type of cannabis, it'll be an all-or-nothing package, and if you really looked into it, you'd see that is also the best possible option for everyone.

Mercedes and BMW are currently making their cars' plastic panels out of hemp as all German plastics are required to be made from natural sources by 2012. Europe never stopped growing industrial cannabis - they've been doing it for thousands of years.
