Yo I know that scratching takes ALOT of practice but what did you do yourself to learn how to make the sounds like that? I have been trying to scratch for a month or so and can't really seem to grasp the concept of it as much as I would like to. Do you have any suggestions or tips on what you did to improve? The crossfader really confuses me as well like how people move it so quickly and when to cut the cue and what not.
@djjoshb Check out DJ Angelo's tutorials here on youtube. They are probably the best resource for beginning to scratch out there, he makes it incredibly straightforward.
I have a question; did you had any music propedia that helps u with what u do? Or u just boght the instrument and practicing your "scratching" skills.
very good, im using a dns 1200 and a c324 :L an odd mix but both good. I'm past the mixing stage and wanting to get into scratching, do you have any tips? and how long did it take you to get to that stage...oh and are you left handed? thankyou :D
What track are you using in this clip my brother`? This song seems to be very good for scratching. I just ordered a pair of CDJ-800s. Until the arrive at the store i have the opportunity to practice some on a pair of CDJ-1000mk3. I Look forward to get better in my newly found hobby. Please help with good scratching tracks thanks..
DAAAAAMN!!! i would never thought that i'd see a saudi dude do this this type of shit...and the funny thing that ur doin it while ur wearing a ((thob)) LOL.. U R tha SHIIT..RESPECT
No, because the sensitivity is purely controlled by weight. You could cover the surface with whatever you like so long as it's the same weight all around.
@qahtani Some nice scratches, I like the scratch compilation, is it one you put together or do you happen to have a track listing please? I prefer this type of scratching to a lot of the modern variations as I find them a little too tiring to the ear whereas the older styles flow better. That Pioneer looks like a great alternative to an analogue and seems very precise, however are there any benefits to it if I already have the Torq system? If you were going to buy one turntable which one? Thanks
my brother haroon, i have listened to you work in your site, i like most of them however, there is no reserve addition can save your effort. in other word, how can i know this music is belong to you if some body post the link in his site. what i suggest is mix something attribute to name qahtani or haroon for example. this is an advise. hope all best for you.
Some of my mixes do have my name in them. As for the songs, well -- if anyone steals them I have the masters and they don't so I'm not real worried about proving who did what :)
dude your dope. i want to invest in some cdj's and your video's help me out a lot by giving some nice info. do you think the c.314's are good enough to last a good usage?
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY SICK! wow. A question: Compared to the sc314's you used on your previous video, these cdj800's seem to deliver a greater degree of control over the scratch, it seems a lot tighter, more precise. Am I wrong?
Just out of curiosity did you happen to look at the Denon DN-S3500/DN-HS5500? I'm using the 5500 because I didn't want to loose the feel of the moving platter.
I haven't had a chance to physically use the Denons. They look awesome in concept, but I heard some failure reports and wanted to steer clear of any potential problems, even if they are rare.
What track are you sampling in this?

No, because the sensitivity is purely controlled by weight. You could cover the surface with whatever you like so long as it's the same weight all around.

did you ever try out the Denon cd decks, the s3500? And how long does it take to get used to the non moving platter on the pioneer?

THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY SICK! wow. A question: Compared to the sc314's you used on your previous video, these cdj800's seem to deliver a greater degree of control over the scratch, it seems a lot tighter, more precise. Am I wrong?
AntonioE07 3 years ago
I feel like the platters on the c314s were actually a little more agile. The inner LCD on the 800s makes that trade off worthwhile though.
qahtani 3 years ago
Just on average, how long did it take you to get this good?
IconRepublic 3 years ago
I started mixing in '92 or so and quit in '98. I started again more than a year ago. A lot of it has been like riding a bike fortunately.
