@TheGAMEfanatic123 There's probably a shop selling fishing equipment in your nearset larger town.. even if you may not live by the sea people still do fish for carp and other fish in lakes and ponds inland.. so there's always need for a tackle shop.. :)
@TheGAMEfanatic123 The Tamiya masking tape I buy from my local hobby shop (you can probably order it online) and the weights I buy from the local tackle shop, as they have a great variety of weights in different shapes and sizes.. :0)
@HksTopAndRock Glad you enjoy the videos.. :) Sorry for late reply but I have been away on holiday.. Anyway, I' always interested in suggestions for builds and inbox reviews, in as much as I have the kit at all.. :) At the moment I have quite a list of kits to work my way through, though.. :) But yes, by all means.. go ahead.. :)
@Woodyf650 Doesn't offend me at all.. :) I had no problem building it, and if I can find some more I quite happily build at least another two.. :) :) A Swedish Army version in splinter camo.. and one on skis.. :)
@BasicModelling fair enough if yours went well :-) and i realize that they are both different boxes, that you are a much better modeller than me, im only aged 11 and
i only had minor problems. hope your airfix's go all well and good for the future. woodyf650.
@Woodyf650 Don't know if I'm a better modeller or not.. I just had no problem with this kit.. :) But then again I made sure I took my time building it, as it is a plane I know well and have seen more times than I care to remember.. and so I wanted to make a good job of the model.. :)
Yes, I know.. but I was referring to this particular boxing I think.. haven't got the box left now, but I think that's where I saw the date.. It's about time they re-release it anyway, I could quite happily build another 3 or 4 (or more) as it's a plane I have seen plenty of... The Swedish Air Force Pilot School was just a few miles down the road from where I grew up. :) And I'd love to do a Swedish Army version to, in splinter camo... :)
Ah.. nice!! Would that be the Red / White scheme, or the Black / Yellow?? I saw one at a fly-in locally a couple of years ago, the photo is in the video.. I used to see them every day at some point!! :)
Yes it is the red and white. they were bought from the RAF. we bought 4 but one crashed in 2007. i rarely see them. im lucky enough to have sat in one. i almost always see them at the local annual airshow
Well, your island (or should I say your country, rather) have a very strong RAF connection, I believe... :) You should film them and post a video, I'd love to see some again.. :)
I actually have a small scale Spruce goose. I ussually hang all the model airplanes I build, and this one nearly fell. Decided to take it down. The scale of the model was 1/200. It was Level 2 or something, and was particularly easy to build. The propellers broke pretty easily though
Returned to favorite this one, Lots of educative material in it about painting filler and things like that. Not to mention, its also an outstanding model. I love the finished product. :)
Thank you, kind Sir Knight.. I have had this kit on the shelf for a couple of years, until I felt confident enough to build it! It's one of those classic Airfix kits that's very rare to come by.. but the main reason was that it's a plane I used to see a lot of when I grew up, and so I wanted to make the model as good as I could.. :) I'm pleased with the outcome, and it's now on display in the modelshop in town.. from what I have been told it has had some positive comments! :) :)
The detail comes with the kit.. but it sure helps to use the pilot figures supplied! Takes out a lot of work in the cock-pit.. :) One of the most enjoyable builds I've done in a long while, but then it is another one of the planes I've always wanted to do, as I 'grew up with them'.. :)
Yes, I can't see anybody making a kit of a Cessna-172 in such a large scale.. but if you do Tomcats in 1/72, why not build the Cessna in that scale too?? Why the interest in that plane, anyway?? Just curious... :)
Re-releasing it this year? That is good news! BTW, which filler is better? I've seen you use the MMD/Squadron white putty, and the Vallejo filler. I've tried the white putty once long ago, but it wasn't the easiest to apply. Congratulations on another beautiful model! Erica ;) xx
Both fillers are very good, but for different purposes.. I find the Squadron works best on deeper cuts and cracks, and the Vallejo filler on the more shallow cracks and narrow gaps.. The Vallejo filler doesn't sand down that well though, so any excess is best removed with a finger or cottonbud immediately after applying.. that's my experience, anyway! I apply the Squadron white putty with a small spatula, preferably a stiff one.. I have a couple custom made for small narrow places.. :)
Wow! You've really outdone yourself! It's absolutely beautiful! The cockpit is no nice and spacious, you've detailed it beautifully, and yaa the red was tricky, but you really pulled it off! I mean, it knocked me out of my seat and across the room! lolol! It is THAT gorgeous! So gorgeous it doesn't even need mg's or cannons on it! :)
Ha ha ha.. Well, it is only a trainer.. but I believe it has hardpoints fitted under the wings, and other Air Forces may have fitted them with rockets.. but I'm not sure! They used to be all over the place when I grew up, so I've always wanted to build one.. but didn't feel I was ready until now.. :)
Ah I miss the sight of a "plane coming together". Are you going back to sleep, I hope?
That canopy was a job well done, especially given the very light frame printed on it. Again, some nice orange painting. What models is sir making next/now?
I'm getting to grips with some wonderful plywood - only 1.5mm thick! But oh so much stronger than balsa. Segment 1 of 19 almost complete, guess what I'm actually making...
No sleep just yet, still preparing for the show tomorrow! Getting picked up at 7 a:m, as we have to make sure we can get a parking space.. I'm taking 2 'Tunnan', a Tiger Moth, the Bloodhound, the Bv 141, Wallace & Gromit and the Sk 60.. ALL Airfix kits for the table! The next kit built will be an Airfix 'Jeep & trailer' in 1/72, by request.. after that I'll definetely stop building on request, though!! I hope to find some interesting stuff at Hornchurch.. (cont)
(cont).. as there will be lots of traders, incl. Hannants.. but if I come home without anything I won't be too upset!! As for what you're making, I'd say a glider.. or the Natter! Goodness knows.. but I'm sure looking forward to seeing the end result.. :) :) Have you seen 'granskare's' entry in the competition?? It's rather different, but certainly not bad... :) :)-
Nope, Sir is wrong! The Sk 50 SAFIR was before the Sk 61 Bulldog.. I have a kit of the Saab Safir as well, just trying to make my mind up as if to build a F10 'hack' in 3 colour camouflage, or an all over yellow Trainer from F5.. or an all over yellow Norwegian version.. I'm torn between all three possibilities, guess I should have bought more than just the one kit, when I was at the F10 museum.. :)
oh, I did not know that...I saw a Safir in Tikkakoski Finland museo so just assumed that it superceded bulldog...I vote for F10 hack, a nicely scrubby looking one, patches of different colours, etc....that gives a trainer class :)
F10 didn't use them as trainers, but as weather planes and general transport of personnel.. probably only had 1 or two.. And as I now have a plane from F5*, I guess the F10 plane is a better option! Then again, I'm very short of ANY Norwegian aircraft.. :)
