@MrDonnyboy420 me too sir, especially the version of just Hank and his guitar, i have it on a 3 disc version called " the complete Hank Williams" . well worth the search.
Thanks for this upload! 'AT the first fall of snow' , it just now occured to me waht the line in my own song 'Come and meet me' means ( i never knew why i wrote: 'Soon, it's time to go. At the first fall of snow, i'm goin' home. ...., been startin' to feel old, worn-out and all alone.'(c) Rob Dokter!)
You see, i have been writing quite a few 'future-songs' as i call them. I wrote many lines to many songs for myself to which i only (years) later got into that particular situation! (The Doc)
The Years have tought me that listening to what your Parents had to say is importand. Listening to th Musik your Parents heard is even more importand.
theres a version of this with just hank and his guitar, faster tempo but way more touching. in fact its almost impossible not to cry when you hear it. on a a 3 disc set, cant recall the name but look it up, it's unreal.
I am not 65 and I still love this song. I think it is one of his best , although 'The Logtain' is also a contender for that title. 'Your Cheatin' Heart' and 'Cold, cold Heart' are great songs but they don't touch me like this song does.
There is one more thing that I would like to post. It's memory that came back to me.
When my boy was little, probably around three, he would listen to Hank with me and he used to run around the house singing "My Buckets Got A Hole In It, I can't buy no beer". I guess, that was his favorite Hank song.
It made me smile... thinking back...I hope it makes you smile too.
Whoa, he broke my heart again. I have listened to so many of Hank's songs and still there is always a new one that I haven't heard before. I was about 20 when I first heard his music and I fell instantly in love. I am 44 now.
I am so amazed at how a man could write and record so many beautiful songs at such a young age.
@borncountryful Not exactly sure. When i first heard this, it was on his son's record called Luke the Drifter Jr. There was also one on there called On Trial where a drunk driver ran down a little girl. I was just wondering if these 2 songs may be related somehow.
we sang this when we were kids, and still luv it today and we r all old now
