  • i forgot how good her songs are

  • Hey Basil, how many do you have ?

    Love also this one.

    Your channel is soooooo beautiful.

    Big Hugs. Sonja

  • @Banderuola66 Between myself and oldolds53, pretty much all the good ones.

  • I have not stopped playing this tune since i got it over a year ago, i was born in 65 and love the girls of that era, the likes of helen shaprio and brenda lee and of course lesley gore.. fantastic music

  • @TaxiRED Have to agree, this is a good one. One of my earliest posts.

  • @TaxiRED If you like Helen Shapiro you will love her songs You Don't Know and I Don't Care. Her 2 best songs. You also must hear O Dio Mio by ANNETTE. A forgotten top ten song from 1960 . i agree with you - I also love the girls of that era. I also love Brenda Lee and Lesley Gore. I also love Connie Francis. So many great girl singers from the late 50's early 60's. Don't forget about Johnny Angel by Shelley Fabares. Let me know what you think of the songs that I told you about.

  • @50s60steenidols Cheers for that i hadn't heard of the one by Annette which is now saved to Favs, as for Johnny Angel i'd heard it before but forgot about, so now that is saved to Favs, and transferred to the Iphone..

    cheers again

  • @TaxiRED I was born in '65, also. The women from that time are really wonderful. And the music is pretty great.

  • Just a wonderful song, that reflects those innocent times, there is nothing pretentious about it, just enjoy it for what is is a lovely song by a very underated singer.

  • This one was pre-Bobby's Girl. Can't help thinking it would have done a lot better if they had saved it until after.......

  • Yep, I really like this one. One of the best lyrics with "...like sugar in my tea".

  • I never heard of this song before - but I like it.

  • I just received a CD with Susan Maughan's songs on it! Just wanted to let you know it is available. The quality is excellent and the "doll" that sings them is awesome!

  • Fantastic track. Thank you for posting :O)

  • What a dream boat! I can't get this girl's voice out of my mind much less her beauty! Bobby's Girl by her is the absolute best! A very captivating voice!

  • Yep, pretty. The line '...your love melt away like sugar in my tea', always jumps out at me. I've another 5 posted by Ms Maughan - try 'Hand A Hankerchief To Helen'. And I've got a new CD by her for Father's Day on Sunday...

  • I totally agree! The song and her excellent vocal skills are equally captivating! Can you tell me where Susan is now singing and what clubs? IMy wife is over in London at the moment and I have shared the information on this great vocalist with her. What about the CD? Are you selling this or just have it for the posting of her songs? Thanks for sharing this beautiful girl's work with us.

  • Nope, the CD stays with me! Watch out for some new posts. If you type "Whatever happened to Susan Maughan" into Google, the first article says she was still performing in 2004. Sounds like the guy how posted that would know what she's up to nowadays.

  • How good does this make you feel?Does anyone Know what the Helen Shapiro song is called that goes" what were you doing in that other place with that other girl"something like baby you better stay away from her or stay away from me.ooah.

  • You could try 'Keep Away From Other Girls', or send a message to her number one fan below, LaVerne37.

  • Perhaps "clareons," is thinking of "Who Is She?," We Texans are starving for Helen's previous labels to release more of her less known gems...yes Sir B...Susan is a pip but I'm a one woman man...must always be true to my #1 dollybird: THE GREAT HELEN SHAPIRO!!! Yall check out Sir B's posts of "Young Stranger," and "You'd Think He Didn't Know Me," and you will see how Helen at age 15 sounded in NASHVILLE!!! sigh....so close and yet so far...I had school that day!

    ;)

  • Hi thanks i got mixed up it`s by Susan Maughan not Helen Shapiro thanks anyway.

  • .that's right, and it is called "That Other Place"

  • Cheers.Yes i found out the title just last week.Thanks.

  • Just a cute brunette Barbie.....the camera loves this dollybird!!! Thanks for expanding my world....Sir B!!!

  • Being from Durham, Susan would no doubt reply 'Haddaway man'.

    (confused?)

  • That's the way man? Is that correct? geezzzzzz you are one strick professor.....

    ;)

  • In this context it would be a reproach, as in 'Get lost will you!', or 'Shut-up!'

    Language please Susan!

  • I grew up in the 60's and never heard Susan. She's gorgeous and has an excellent voice!!

  • She was a real cutie. Check her out in the film clip "Make Him Mine".

  • Sadly "Make Him Mine" has been removed.

  • This one is so good! The string backing is awsome.

  • I agree. Also, for some reason the lyric "...your sweet love melt away like sugar in my tea' jumps out at me.

  • She was such a pretty girl (I'm sure she still is..) so nice to hear. Thanks for this Sir :-)

    Yonatan

  • A cutie - from County Durham (same as me).

  • I see... ;-)
