osama took a shave an became obama bin laden and you all are being duked , i really wanted to believe in him but the same shi* is still happning ,dammit nothing changed , show me ?
the only reason that I kept my sanity was that was listening to a podcast. if not for my iPod, I really would have gone crazy. I mean more crazy than I usually am.
Understand the security mess was the same at the Blue Gate. From what I heard, there were security breaches, with people rushing the gates, and at one point, the TSA just let anyone and everyone in the Silver Gate just to fill up the Mall for the cameras. Well over 10,000 people waiting outside the Blue Gate with me at 12:00, when Obama took the oath.
I spoke to a cop that worked the tent side of the tunnel to try to control the crowd. I hear that because there were so many people that arrived late (no direction to 395 when I got there at 4:20am to the tunnel...I just figured it out cause of being from DC) the gates were impossible to navigate zig-zag metal gates could accomodate 5-6 people accross. Write to the Inaugural Committee. My neighbors that left at 3:00am didn't get in. They took the metro or waited.I'm impatient&don't wait.
How much did these tickets cost? I have a feeling it is one of those things: You get what you pay for. Maybe I am wrong....so curious to know what they cost.
There was no charge for the tickets. Most of the purple tickets were given out by members of Congress or directly from the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
There ya have it. With all of the people crowding into DC it is easy to see why the free ticketed spaces would be overflowing and not available for all.
No...its not like only the purple tickets were free. As far as I understand ALL OF THEM were free. So its not like oh we get what we pay for. They just fucked up immensely. They had to have known how many tickets they gave out. This was just ridiculous. I got there at 5 am and still didn't get in.
Look at all the people who made it to the inauguration with out government assistance and then look at all the people who couldn't make it out of New Orleans when a hurricane was headed their way. Makes you wonder eh.
The purple tickets were also given to those who worked on the campaign for over a year, which was my case. I don't think free is a word I would use for my ticket.
All of the tickets were free unless you decided to purchase from a broker or scalper because you were not given tickets. I got in but I woke up at 3:30a.m, did not take the metro as suggested cause I live in DC&know better and was well through the 395 Tunnel by 4:30a.m. Also, I was with the first 200-300 people who entered BLUE TICKET. I was blessed from the time I sent an email through the entire Inauguration. DC is a tough place to navigate.
What a complete, utter joke that was. No order whatsoever. How is it that people that got there at 8:00 while people who were there at 4:00AM didn't? Who was in charge of the purple gate?? I only saw a few cops, no event people, and zero potties. What a sad experience especially for those who traveled so far and sacrificed so much to get here...

You certainly EARNED a place at the Inauguration. Too bad they focused more energy on the "upper" scale venues and screwed you guys.

That goes to show you were owned by Obama.

I cant believe thousands of people with tickets never got in! 6 hours in line and didnt even get to hear or see the inauguration.
Everyone should email Feinstein, Obama, and all the others about the plight of the purple ticket people!
