Just beautiful. I had a vivid dream a few years ago where Ivy finally escaped from Mr Hyde. It stirred the same kinds of feelings that this video does.
Who could resist Ingrid Bergman (at her most beautiful) but the epitome of good, Dr Jekyll. As a child the movie scared the crap out of me but at the same time I developed a life long crush on Ingrid Bergman.
Ok guys keep in mind that 1. It was only her SECOND film in English (you try portraying a complex character in a new language) 2. It was completely new type of role for her, because for YEARS she had been type casted for all the "good girl" parts and 3. She was slightly distracted with Victor Fleming (Mr. Casanova, no offense Fleming fans)
@JuanMacready well THAT was rude, immature and uncalled for for one thing, and you apparently have enough interest in her to find out that she died of cancer
My problem with this film was the pacing was a bit too slow, I hated Ingrid Bergman, and the fil seemed as if it were being more toned-down in terms of content. I did however love Spencer Tracy in the part. I though his "diabolical bastard" portayal was more effective than March's crazed lunatic approach. I do wish he had more makeup though.
well but her acting in this movie is her only performance that I personally regard as "quite good"...She was overshadowed by Humphrey Bogart's Rick in Casablanca. Charles Boyer in Gaslight and Yul Brynner in Anastasia also gleamed brilliantly than her(despite her Oscar-winning) Man, I was glad that Brynner's Bounine only kissed her on the hand in Anastasia(but he passionately and soulfully kissed Deborah Kerr on the lips in the Journey^^)
To wincipoet: I think this was not her best movie. You should see Notorius or Stromboli, Europa 51, or Autumn sonata, She grew up very much, as actress
The 1931 film was in fact a remake of two earlier silent films, and as much as you might like to think that the 1931 is a masterpiece, in this day and age the 1941 is much better, although that is not how it was originally regarded.
The 1931 is actually a film I watch when I feel like laughing. To put it simply it's freaking hilarious. The acting is horrible. The plot is weak. And it's nowhere near as psychologically challenging as this one.
Spencer Tracy and Ingrid Bergman-what could go wrong?
Tracy was too old for the part and his American accent was badly out of place. Ingrid Bergman was a talentless whore and her Cockney attempt was awful. The film was so slow and boring, no wonder it flopped.
Beautiful video. I'm actually crying right now. I saw this movie for the first time a few weeks ago, and was so happy I did. I'm a huge fan of the musical adaptation of the story, which has a character based on Ivy - the show itself is deeply flawed, but the story of Ivy/Lucy is so wonderfully tragic. I love it.
Che meraviglia di attore, mio figlio diciottenne dice che oggi non ci sono attori con una capacità così grande di affrontare ruoli sia comici che tragici...ce ne fossero di Spencer
hey this is awesome..I think this film showed Ingrid's real ability in playing both the good girl and bad girl roles, she's versatile! Aww lovely dear!
Thanks :D. I agree, that's what I like about this movie; Ingrid playing "the bad girl" and Lana Turner playing "the good girl" for once. Both did an excellent job at it - although naturally I'm partial to Ingrid ;).

Too bad Ingrid & Spencer didn't make another film together.
Both actors had excellent chemistry together.

It was funny that nobody recognized him as Hyde when he looked exactly the same as Jekyll!

Bergamn was badly miscast. This slow and boring remake was nowhere near as good as the 1931 masterpiece.

she was a beautiful woman but I never considered her as a superb actress

It was a strange thing casting Bergman as a Cockney.

As much as I loved Ingrid Bergman, I could not stand watching this film of her, being abused the way she was.
It drove me nuts.
