  • I believe the guitar player's name is Mike Baker....saw him live, one of the best I've seen! None smoother!!

  • Could someone tell me who the lead guitar player is??

  • Thanks to all the great Fans for keeping The Voice alive.

  • The mandoline-player at Vern's right side is a bloody good backing-vocal singer

  • if not the best foe sure in the top three

  • I got his box set right before he left us...I love listening to him. He should be in the Country Music Hall of Fame!!

  • Great medley! Vern was, indeed, REAL country and one of the best ever...miss him.

  • anything by The Voice is great.any chance you might have Saras Eyes, man wasn't that one great?thanks for all you do.

  • Merry Christmas to all the Vern Gosdin fans everywhere. Your support means so much. Let's hear it for The Voice.

  • my mawmaw love this man

  • Vern is great...I heard he was always in a battle with whether George Jones or HE was the better singer.... George and Verne as a duo would have been the best marketing idea of the early 80's!!!!

  • @bobbyniemi Vern is a great vocalist but c'mon he cant be compared with George jones , George has the voice for ballads , up tempo, and everything between with a style and phrasing to die for in every tempo .

There are great country singers then there is George Jones, there are great pedal steel guitar players then there is Buddy Emmons .....same difference, they are head and shoulders above the rest.

  • @pedalman Man, i love Jones just like u do and i agree it's hard to compare anyone's singing to his.........however if someone can be compared to him than Vern is about as good as it gets.

  • @pedalman will say one more thing, Keith Whitley is underrated also......that man is about as country as it gets. If whitley had not died he may rank with George, no disrespect towards jones, He is the King, I get pissed when people call Strait "King George". Sorry but KIng George is George Jones in my book. Do u like Keith Whitley?

  • @cowboyfan1113 I have to shamefully admit I have not heard Keith Whitley , maybe its because Im over in England .......we get very little country music released over here especially the less known names.

You tube has been a revelation to country music fans ( And others ) world wide we can all now see what the USA has had for decades that we missed out on. We knew about HeeHaw , Wiburn brohters show etc but now I see it, it is better than I imagined and makes me more envious than I was .

  • @pedalman listen to Keith Whitley........."im over you", "ten feet away" "i wonder do you think of me"............Keith drank himself to death in 1989, one of the greatest country singers ever. Glad to know that people in some in England like true country music...i never would have guessed this!!!

  • @cowboyfan1113 There is a massive Country music following here in the UK but only for the good true country music , problem is the record companies only release the "big" names, for example , in the 70s 80s we got Don Williams , Tammy wynette , Billy Jo Spears....... now we get Taylor swift etc ......you get the idea ? The deeper stuff I had to import from USA ...........Ohhhh yes the UK are big country fans in fact a lot of Europe like Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavian, big following.

  • @cowboyfan1113 I have just listened to one Keith Whitley song " losing you all over again" He has one more fan , he reminds me of George Strait in style and is true good country music I will now spend some time listening to his music which will be a pleasure.

  • Vern is great...

  • Thanks to all the Fans for keeping The Voice in their hearts.

  • Duane Allen named him "The Voice", and rightfully so. I had the honor to meet Vern once, back in the summer of '88, and he was as down to earth and as nice a fellow as you could meet anywhere. What a terrific singer he was, and he leaves a prime example of how Country Music SHOULD sound.

  • RIGHT THERE WITH THE POSSUM. EVERY BIT AS GOOD .ONE OF MY FAVORITES RON

  • Damn good video. Vern was smooth as it gets. His music will go on forever. A shot to Vern is in order. Heres to ya brother. Set em up Joe

  • I got into Vern Gosdin about 15 years ago and thought he was great then. since then i have been listening to his older stuff from when he first started solo in the 80s, man talk about a major talent that was very overlooked, RIP VERN

  • Great post.I think Vern was one of our greatest country singers and didn't get near the credit he deserved.I personally rank him up there with Jones and Haggard.RIP Vern.

  • @shimmy1952 you know what...........i agree with u.....merle and GJ were the best ever but Vern is right there with them. Damn this man could sing.

  • Classic, great post, thank you, 5*****s

  • I love his singing this is real country tks for posting

  • No one will EVER come close to replacing VERN. Country Music has sank to an all time low nowdays. Vern will always be remembered as THE VOICE for good reason and the name was very fitting for him. RIP Vern you will always be remembered

  • Vern, we are going to miss you a lot.

    YOU ARE THE VOICE!

May God keep you with HIM and all the other angel voices.

  • The more I call up Vern's songs & read the comments i can see that i am not the only one to appreciate a great voice & delivery.

  • Vern... Your Voice literally brings tears to my eyes... and watching you sing your songs is a very emotional experience for me... thank you ss73ss for posting this medly...
