Like when you have a level 300 design lecture that can also count as an elective, and there is always a group of football players who all took the class so they could hang with their bros. Being a professor in college is all about explaining extremely difficult topics to the next generation. He related to his students and had a little fun. Clearly he doesn't do it in every class, or else the students would not be rapping. For a professor to roll his sleeves up and do something against the grain that makes organic chemistry a little less horrifying is both necessary and genius.
