God. That place was a part of my childhood. I went to the doc's office in Putney the day after and was feeling very sorrowful about it.......

My parents and I watched this video together, from the other side of the country! It brought Putney close to us - and had to stop because it felt so sad.

Thanks to whoever filmed this, and to all of the local firefighters who helped contain the damage. It's a huge blow to the town's spirit; particularly to those that fought to restore the PGS after the '08 fire. My heart goes out to all of them, and to the residents of the nearby apartments that were destroyed. I was so looking forward to the store coming back to life in the spring, and completing the town square again. Very sad... lots of losses.

Yeah, the firefighters were amazing. This could have burned down a lot more stuff if they weren't so great at this stuff.

It seemed most of us were recovering emotionally from the first fire with the likelihood of a reopening sometime soon...The thought that previous connections, fostered by the welcoming wood floored, historic store, restaurant, meeting place, would once again be experienced, kept us going. This blasting devastation squelches all healing and sends emotions to an all time low.
