I just compared both of these too. When you catch the Dubes, you tend to go towards the middle. When you catch the Renegades, it's more in the handle. I tossed both clubs side by side and realized this too. It's how they are balanced. Dubes are weighted towards the middle and the Renegades are weighted more in the handle. Renegades feel softer and I think are more cushioned. Dubes look nice but they tend to slap back when caught (the sound you're hearing) because the handles aren't as soft.
This is a excellent, honest review, and we appreciate all the great things you have to say about the Dubé brand. We hear that juggling-hand-slap sound day in an out, it's the sound of a lot of happy jugglers.
@dubejuggling Thanks for the comments. Having now owned the clubs much longer, I should post an update. A few things I found with the Renegades:
- The appearance of the white handles did not hold up well at all. They really tend to attract dirt/grime on the edges of the tape, and did so almost immediately
- While they might have felt softer in general, the "bad catches" somehow hurt more
- My Renegades since warped, which my Dube clubs never did
The removed comment was asking how I felt about PX3's compared to these; not sure why the author removed it. As it happens, these days I use PX3's, so clearly in general I prefer those. I also recently received a set of Todd Smith Assassins. My quick impression after not using them much is they're more similar to PX3's than a traditional Todd Smith/Renegade/Dube European. Perhaps at some point I'll video a response that covers those two clubs.
I have had both Dube and Renegade clubs. I VERY MUCH perfer Renegade. When I was performing Juggling more regularly, it was street performing. The Dube clubs i had were so light, the smallest wind blew them away with higher throws. Never had the problem with Renegade. Another Renegade advantage is renegades clubs and torches are designed to feel the same. Dube's clubs are very light, but u can beat an elephant to death with their torches. Renegades bigger body is easier for audience 2c

The last one being the most serious concern

Interesting. Make a new video? We see some ancient clubs in here that need new knobs, ends, or decorations but that's about it.

My first set of renegde cclubs lasted me 12 years. The Knobs never broke off my clubs either
