They take time and patience and love. They act like toddlers but are also wonderful. Hope yours worked out! And no they only howl at certain music, tones and if they hear us outside they sometimes think its cute to get in the stairway and howl!

Stupid people... You think that a cell phone tone would hurt their hearing? Why in hell would they start singing even louder? Furthermore... A dogs hearing isn't more sensitive than ours, they just hear more frequencys... And third. Basenji's doesn't do this very much. They are mostly a pretty quiet race (some individuals might be more vocal than others), but they are a primitive race, and thus being very flock oriented. One starts yodeling, all others start up. Even a human can start them up!

Actually they only do this when my cell goes off and with certain music, tones or singing. We cannot leave HGTV on while gone because the theme song of Divine Design really gets them going and they love the echo in the stairwell! So we let them watch c-span.Its pretty low key. They are very quiet normally and of course they are barkless.
