  • Good Day Mr Funktuall!

I can tell you love Issac Hayes so I will ask you if you know the title of the song he did..I used to here it in the 80's I think it had the lyriks I think he is saying..

"Awe shucks I wouldnt stop for a million bucks" Can you please help me I LOVE that song!

  • @LAURARIGGS

The name of the song is "Don't let go". The next time you want to know the name of a song, just type the words you remember in Google. But you have to use the quotation marks ("). I typed "Awe shucks I wouldnt stop for a million bucks" in Google and i got the name of the song right away. Just remember to use the " . Google will search for the combination of words between the two quotation marks.

  • @LAURARIGGS Thanks so much for the info!

    I got a question...its a long shot lol,

Im after an hiphop track that i heard around 1990, by L.P.S.D...entitled 'black is beautiful'

it sampled 8 bars of ' Hyperbolicsyllabicsequedalymistic ' ....cracking track.

I dont know if it was officially released or was just some kind of demo/promo track, i had heard it on an old skateboarding video. Any help appreciated man :-)

  • My friend. I am a Lowrider in my mid 40's from so. cal.. but I spent my childhood summers in N.Y. Sir Isaac. to me was one of the most under rated, influential

composers of this century.. his gritty/ funky but soothing and classy orchestral

scores will continue to withstand the test of time.. I remember watching Southpark with a friend.. And telling her, That Man should get a life time achievement award. Before we loose him.. I have an Issac montage too. I did want to sho it yet.. I might?

  • We just love you man!! keep the good stuff coming! Greetz from Holland

  • Bumpy's Lament

    XXplosive - Dr Dre

(he didn't sample the song directly, rather copied the tune....sounded sick tho!!)

  • @LooseFit88 exactly, I don't hear Mobb Deep's "Back at You" anywhere in that snippet, but I do hear Dre's "Xxplosive". You got a good ear, homey

  • Hyperbolicsyllabicsequedalymistic

DJ Quik - Born & Raised in Compton

  • @pusynator68 im sorry but are u fuckin serious?

  • 5:56 EMpire state of mind?

  • Keep doing what your doing. I have watched almost all of your videos and you are the man. By the way, what's your favorite genre? You seem to know and like everything, so I was just wondering.

  • Everyone go to 8:30

#10 - Sounds 2 me like "Down for my Niggaz - C-Murder & JLR" ..do u agree Funktuall??

  • hell yeah!!!!!!!!

  • lol same horns same key

  • @DjBuBbOGum it is

  • Hell yeah! Isaac was a god. Walk On By is just ridiculously sampled. I mean it's in the Ludacris, but the fact that it's also in Warning by Biggie, Dead Bent by Doom, I Can't Go To Sleep by Wu Tang and Me Against the World by 2Pac means that it's been the basis for more absolutely killer tracks that pretty much anything else. Oh, and it's a freakin' masterpiece all by itself too of course...

  • Wasn't there an Isaac Hayes sample at the beginning of C.R.E.A.M.?

  • The Charmels - As Long As I've Got You

That's pretty much the beat for C.R.E.A.M in entirety.

  • Oh, kk thanks. Ima look it up now:P

  • Ike's Rap 2: Trycky - Hell is round the corner and Portishead - Glorybox...

  • #10 was also sampled by comptons most wanted- the hood took me under...i think

  • this guy is the daddy!!

  • Nice, love Isaac Hayes.

But you missed a really big sample "A Few More Kisses To Go" which was used for both

    "Tonight's Da Night" - Redman

    and

"Platinum Plus" - Big L (this one is a little bit harder to hear but I think you can hear it at about 1:04 or something into the song)

  • My Funny Valentine - The Stylistics (Platinum Plus - Big L)

  • But A Few More Kisses to Go was also in there.

  • Hey man, just wanted to let you know, Isaac Hayes was my grandmother's favorite singer. She died on Monday, and her funeral is this morning. I'm listening to your video as I'm writing down what I'm going to say at her funeral. As a fellow dj, i appreciate your love and respect for GOOD music, and I thank your for posting this video. God Bless :-)

  • aye condolences from overseas :(

  • Rip...all the best to you and your family...

  • le mec il est perchéééé

....mais il s'y connait en matière de bonne musique:hung up on my baby et" title theme" du film three tough guys est pas mal aussi!!

  • Has anything NOT been sampled. Every time is do a beat from a sound I find I end up realising that some producer has sampled it already. Has anyone been left untouched. Damn.

  • Walk On By also sampled on Tha Dogg Pound- Santa Clause is Coming To The Ghetto

  • What's # 10 again?

  • Isaac is bad ass! Brings back some good memories, thanks Bro.

  • Fantastic selection, good DJ skills. Thank You.

  • 2nd II None also used that "Hung up on my baby" for "If you want it" off their self-titled debut.

  • i love how much your into the grooves man. im like that in my room by my self ahaha

  • LOL... you're kind of a cornball (lol) but you do know good music. So props for understanding real joints.

    pE-s

  • wow this guy is good... i can only name a few of the samples....rap-producers used the hell out of isaac hayes work...i'm just calling a few artists off the top of my head from what i'm hearing: big daddy kane-smooth operator; wu tang-cant go to sleep; ghetto boys-minds playing tricks on me; mobb deep-right back at you; both special ed-never go back and-jay z-can i live; styles p and jada kiss-thats gangsta...all the hip hop heads should know this...thats all i can pick up at for now...lol

  • dude is cool as shit, drinks on the house

  • yes man great video!

  • hey funktuall u forgot bout "beautiful minds - Cormega" hahahahaha best sample everrrrr

  • Hey Funktual, Maka here... do you know that my real name is Ike? Yup! Great video here. One, Maka

  • im liking the war is over poster. John Lennon inspired right?

  • Funktuall...I appreciate you for this video post! People dont know about the roots/foundation of what they are listening to...especially my so called rap music lover (hip hop heads) THANK YOU!!

  • Don't mispresent!!!!! The No. 1 sample of "Walk On By" = The Warning - Notorious B.I.G.

  • He didn't do anything wrong here Mr Negative Vibes!! he only just mentioned one song... Luda...yes The Warning was also sampled.

  • Understand...if you're gonna be talking about samples and not give props to THE NO. 1 SAMPLE then what's the use??? Funktuall is the man, but if you don't talk about the biggest sample of a song then it's a crime!!! It's like talking about Ashanti's "Unfoolish" without mentioning Biggie's "One More Chance"...big up funktuall, still

  • I don't care either way guys but I will say it's much harder to say everything you want to and still be spontaneous and amusing. You just have to let stuff go. I had people killing me over the fact that I talk about Dre/Pac for the Cocker sample without mentioning Ult MC's and EPMD. What can you do?

Re: Rico's comments. You do realize that i made this video like 15 minutes after hearing he was dead right? I'm grieiving and being judged? Jeez.

  • No worries brah, it's gone!!!!! More important stuff to fight about. Grieved just like u did...ROCK ON

  • I even got the same hat you got on, and you also look like me, this is crazy, i play this shit driving downtown all night long!

  • Dude, you rock, u remind me of myself! I love this shit, rock on brotha....

  • This is dope :)

  • Dude, you tickle me! You rock! I HAD to subscribe to you just to find out your deal. And for you young 'uns out there, that big round disc-y looking thing in the video is called a RECORD! And the thing it was spinning on is called a RECORD PLAYER! Ask your parents about them!

  • Oh yeah..."bumpy's lament was used...but it wasnt Issac Hayes' version that was used". It was a cover band's version that was sampled for Dre's "2001" album.

  • @mrdeedz this was probably the only way out because Hayes (i.e the guys that administer his heritage) didn't allow the original sample to be used. (I would not be surprised)

  • #2 Joy I believe was sampled first by C.P.O. on his song "Ballad of a Menace" back in 1990. I forgot about that song. C.P.O was from LA and was affiliated with N.W.A
