  • Man... talk about emotional

  • 4 people missed the like button.

I'm a TCU horned frog at heart but I respect the Aggies.

From Fort Worth, Texas & TCU...God bless and Gig em.

Rest in peace the 12 who died. You'll forever be in our hearts.

  • class right there look it up and it will play this video hook em horns and aggies give em hell in the sec! \m/

  • @coltperritano Nice!

  • Gig 'Em Horns

  • I LOVE THIS!!!!

    GOD BLESS UT AND A&M!!

OUR FALLEN AGGIE MUST SURE BE PROUD!

  • hook em horns

    thanks aTm

  • So proud to be a Longhorn HOOK EM

  • Classy. Just like the Longhorn Band on Thursday 11-24-11.

  • Oh my goodness. This was beautiful. What a touching tribute.

This Baylor girl (Sic 'em!) wishes both UT and A&M all the best in your respective futures. I'm sorry the tradition's at its end. You are both worthy competitors.

  • @DottyGale8 Piss on aggy. They chose to leave, leave. We are better off without them. The LB was classy as always last Thursday aggy was classless as usual. I would not pee on their heads if their brains were on fire.

  • What kind of person dislikes this tribute? It's was a very classy thing that the Longhorn band did. Boo, to whoever disliked this gesture. Never forget!

  • Who the hell would dislike something like this?

  • This is so touching and beautiful. It makes me cry.

God Bless Texas University and Texas A&M.

  • @taleydaley2012 so it's touching a beautiful to you & yet you still call us Texas University? Classy. There's no such university. Hook'em

  • I can't believe the Thanksgiving rivalry will be over after this season!

  • I'm so proud of LHB for this performance. NICE t-bone sounds!

  • 1:14 we really should continue playing each other.

  • two people missed the like button... God Bless Texas A&M and the students lost ..

  • God Bless all 12 Aggies in that tragety! may the tears and joy bring joy that they are in a better place now !

    - a Texan

  • As an Aggie thru and thru, I can honestly say without question that this is one of the kindest gestures imaginable. There is such a history between these schools. Longhorn nation was incredible in the aftermath of the collapse. It is a shame that we have come to a point where the two schools may not meet again. For God's sake I hope that isn't the case. Gig'em, and God bless.

  • This makes me tear up every time. Thank you, Longhorns! God Bless <3

    -An Aggie

  • This was the only show that A&M ever stood for another band. This still rings in the heart of the Longhorn Band. We're gonna miss our brothers and sisters down south. Hook'em, and Gig'Em. God Bless.

  • This Aggie appreciates the classy gesture. Thanks Texas.

  • Very classy, not to mention well done. Thanks, Texas - this Aggie appreciates this gesture. Great, great band.

  • Man I'm gonna miss all you t-sips haha never thought I'd say such a thing.

  • I'm a Sooner fan that lives in Texas and hates the longhorns but I must respect that tthat was very heartwarming. BOOMER SOONER,AND GIG'EM

  • whoop gig'em ags

  • I have goosebumps watching this. Much respect from TCU and Fort Worth...

    -TCU Class 2012

  • @BigDubya72 RIFF RAM

  • whoop! absolutely beautiful

  • I'm a Red Raider, but in Novemeber of 99 we were allkAggies for awhile. While I love a little jabbing here and there, I have the utmost respect for my fellow Texans...despite our battles on the football field, we're one big, dysfunctional, yet loving family at the end of the day

-Cameron, Texas Tech Red Raider Class of 2014.

  • i would love to see this happen at the tech vs ut game. ive seen it from both schools though. they hate each other so much it wont happen. im a tech student and even i wish both schools could have a little more respect for each other.

  • UT and Texas A&M, i have family members who went to both schools and sister was at aggieland when the bonfire collapsed. I love both schools, just shows the spirit, true rivals can be true brothers as well. May be rivals, but both school are in the great state of TEXAS!!!!!!

  • the first time i saw this video, it actually brought a few tears to my eyes. my mom and dad both went to exas, my sister went to Texas a&m. I love both schools.

  • Everyone knows that no one fights as hard as brothers.

  • @Radabah You couldn't have said it better.

  • Two people are OU fans....this is awesome

  • that is so amazing that the biggest rivals in the biggest sport still have the love and respect for each other to dedicate their halftime preformance to the other school, and for the other school to stand and support them while doing so. That could only happen in a place like texas nowhere else has the ability to respect one another like that. I wish the rest of the country would do that, it would be a much better place to live.

  • The one and only time the Alumni, fans, and 12th man stood while an opposing school's band played. Shows the utmost respect from UT. Gig 'Em

  • Just goes to prove, the aggies and longhorns might be rivals, but in the end, we're all Texans.

  • Pure class by the University of Texas. Thank you. JSW, Class of 1987, Texas A&M University.

  • at the end of the day. were all still texan.

  • I had goosebumps :) WHOOP!

  • I do believe Tech would do this, even Baylor. Regardless of the rowdiness of the fans, or the game on the field, this is about life, not a stupid football game. Do not assume anything about another school that you do not know, that is not classy. Let's keep it about A&M and UT. Very nice tribute.

  • Although UT and A&M bicker, fight, and poke fun, this just goes to show that there's always love. I also respect OU a lot too.

    -- UT 2010 :)

  • That was very respectful of UT. Despite Texas A&M being the arch rivals of UT, they are able to show that they are there for em. Hats off to them.

  • I'd like to know who the moron who clicked dislike was. Very moving!

  • This video makes me proud to be a Texan.

  • It has been 11 years, and watching this brings tears to my eyes. I was 9 years old when bonfire collapsed and I remember it very well. This is the classiest rivalry in all of college football in my opinion.

-Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of '12

  • Very classy of ut, hats off to that.

  • Fighting Texas Class of '06. 2 best schools in Texas.

  • I doubt Baylor or tceh would do this. I respect the Longhorns, the other two big xiiers...eh

  • Class act!

---Fighting Texas Aggie Class of '05

  • Class act!

---Fighting Texas Aggie Class of '05

  • A display of true class and compasion...

  • Still the classiest thing I have ever seen one school do for another.

  • true class

  • Im an aggie and i respect UT i have been told stories of how UT students where showing up in college station four hours after the logs fell to help with the rescue efforts..which means they left the moment they found out about it..that is classy..on the other hand tech was making fun of aggies saying that they dont even khow to make a fire correctly..thats worthless

  • @NolanRogers2 and @agben35

There are plenty of other videos that concern politics that you can have your argument on. With respect to both of your opinions, please 'take it outside'.

  • As an Aggie, I'll never forget that couple of weeks and the classiness of the Longhorn Band during halftime. I know there is an intense rivalry and extreme dislike. But, I'll forever be grateful for the gesture and the support from the Longhorns at that moment, pure class..........now back to the fued!!!

  • One of many reasons why I respect Texas. The way they handled this changed my view of them forever. Gig'em Aggies

  • GiG'eM longhorn band. Was at that game and it was hard to speak or do anything at half-time during this. Thanks LHB, it meant alot to all AGGIES and we wont forget you for it.

  • GiG'eM longhorn band. Was at that game and it was hard to speak or do anything at half-time during this. Thanks LHB, it meant alot to the AGGIES>

  • *cries a little* wow texas that is what i call true class right there, i would gladly, as an aggie, do that kinda stuff for u guys any day. Plus i doubt that tech would do that for anybody, Gig'em Aggs!! and Hook'em Horns!! :D

  • this maybe the only time they sound ok to me. any other time they suck like hell. saw em off

  • @dogsoldier1968 wow, your a jerk.

  • This still gives me chills when I see it. A very nice tribute from our in state rival. God bless Texas and the Aggies.

  • I love Texas A&M, mostly because I am in the Fightin Texas Aggie Band class of '11. I have always poked fun at Texas and my HS friends that love Texas, but this is incredible and proves that behind all the "Aggies are stupid jokes" and the "Steers and Queers" statements we are all from Texas and we have each others back no matter what. Remember 9/18/99 AND 8/1/66

  • @Maydelle68 random question what outfit are you in just asking cause i'm B-co 08

  • @Maydelle68 what outfit are you in just curious cause I am B-co '08

  • @hawk3116 Wow even the internet isn't big enough to keep us BQ's away from each other. bty i'm in A-Batt

  • Istill get chills everytime I watch this. Remember 11-19-99

  • I'm a big Aggie follower, but still get chills when I see this. That was quite an impressive performance by the UT band.

  • I remember this. What a year. I'm proud to be a Longhorn fan and proud to have so many great Aggie friends and neighbors. And okay, just for fun... it's 7:45 a.m. and OU still sucks! :-) Hope the Big 12 has a great football season this fall. Gig 'em... and Hook' em!

  • This gets me everytime I watch it. I was 18 years removed from my time at A&M...and I was never as proud to be a Texan as that day...

  • college athletics at its best

  • @aggiechic13

I went to Texas Tech University. We may love football, but we also know when the line between rivalry and human decency must be drawn. We all mourned for those who died. I know that every time I watch footage of the bonfire I am brought to tears. So, maybe I can speak for all of the Red Raiders, but this Red Raider's heart goes out to the Aggies.

  • I think both schools grew up this day and learned what is important and what is not. God Bless us all.

  • this proves that texas a&m and texas dont hate each other

  • This is why I am an Aggie fan but respect UT.

  • whoop

  • As a Longhorn, to all the Aggies here, we fight like only brothers can. God bless.

  • Classy Austin Tx. Very Classy! This was a sad day for Aggieland and Texas University stood by our side bespite how big our rivalry is. I tip my hat to the Longhorn band. Gig Em Horns!

  • As an Aggie fan, it's obvious that the Longhorns are my most hated rival, but it's good to see the Longhorns paying tribute to the fallen 12. You 12 will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace...

And I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank you for this great act of compassion, Texas. Thank you.

  • Thank you Longhorn band and color guard for remembering and honoring our 12 fallen Texas Aggie brethren in 1999 it was a beautiful moment and truly appreciated by Aggies around the world. We will never forget them as long as there is a University called Texas A&M. May they rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon them.

  • this is great to see

  • One word describes this performance and this group of Longhorns: CLASS!!!

  • That looks like a treble clef to me FOB... I was in college when this tragedy unfolded, videos like this bring a tear to my eyes. Someone should link 'class' on wiki to this video. Gig 'Em or Hook 'Em I dig the respect.

  • They did a beautiful job with maturity and class. Flagging the colors of the opposing team doesn't happen often, and it's impressive here. I'm not sure what that configuration of the marching band is supposed to represent, but it's beautiful all the way.

  • the thing is that people think that the Texas rivalry are hate rivalry but its just a family feud

  • Amazing amount of class and dignity between the two programs. I still can't believe its been ten years.. God Bless those 12 who have fallen. Gig' em and Hook 'em Gents.

    A Red Raider

  • God bless the Longhorns for their compassion. This is no doubt the best and greatest moment in this rivalry.

  • 10 years. We remember.

    Thanks Longhorns.

  • This still brings tears to my eyes...

  • Despite your typical poking fun at the teams, I've always had a tremendous amount of respect for UT and Texas A&M. Both of yall are class acts in my book.

    --University of Oklahoma '11

  • @Piegood As a Texas grad, I've always had a lot of respect for OU, also. God bless and God speed.

  • R.I.P "Bonfire 12"

I remember when it collapsed and we will ALWAYS remember the ones we lost.

Seeing pictures and videos of the rememberance ceremony at 2:42 a.m brings tears to my eyes and pride in the fact that I am too a Fighting Texas Aggie!

    WHOOP!

GOD BLESS TEXAS! Longhorns or Aggies alike. Good Bull!

  • Amen and GOD BLESS TEXAS!!

  • When all is said and done, we're all Texans. God Bless Texas

  • texas and a&m are brothers. they argue a lot. they bicker about which is better. one is a city slicker and makes more money and is a democrat. the other likes the simple country life and is a conservative. but when one brother is hurt, the other pays respect and helps out. they realize they can be good friends dispite the sibling rivalry. tech is the retarted trailer trash younger brother that fails at everything!

    God bless the fallen aggies

  • Tech will probably throw tortillas around, and knocking down goal posts -injuring people. I remember a raider fan spitting at one time during a game.

  • @Longhorn6595

It is kind of ironic that you spell retarded wrong. Why would tech even be mention in all of this? I nice tribute to a tragedy, and you are taking shots at another school? Stay classy.

  • lol what did that have to do with it

  • what does money have to do with this? get over your pride and just respect them for doing a wonderful tribute to your shcool, who cares if you make more money

  • This is why I don't have a hatred for the Longhorns like some. In the end we are rivals, but we are also more than that. Thanks and gig em!

  • God bless the Longhorns for this tribute. It's been ten years since this happened but we'll never forget what you did to remember the fallen twelve. The bond between the Aggies and the Longhorns transcends and sort of rivalry.

    c/o '10

  • Hard to believe it's been 10 years today. I remember that night like it was last night. Those bad memories will be stained in my mind as long as I live. God bless the horns for this moving tribute and show of respect.

    sstory '01

  • I am not sure I will ever be able to hear that song without thinking about Bryan. We still miss you...

Texas and A&M are like brothers...we despise each other most of the time and we are crazy competitive, but when something like this happens we are still all Texans and stick together as such.

    Angela '00

  • Excuse my ignorance, but what is the formation supposed to be in the beginning?

Also. God Bless Texas. So awesome to see respect like this!

  • I got the chills.

  • I was on the field for the game and was amazed at the compassion demonstrated by the half time performance of the Texas Band. Makes you realize that we love beating each other in sports but this was life and death and the Texas Band rose above the simple sports rivalry to show respect. In the end we are all Americans

  • I'm a die-hard UT fan but this here proves that UT and A&M are great friends and OU still sucks!

  • comment of the year ^^

  • @thedragons87 Whoop!

  • @thedragons87 WHOOOOOOP!!!!!!

  • I can't believe it's been 10 years. I was tearing up while watching/listening to this. So powerful.

Thank you, Texas. Rivals till the end, but the respect for each other with always be beyond a rivalry.

Thanks and gig 'em. c/o 2011

  • Thats pure class!! and yes but tech on the other hand!! Gig 'em Aggies

  • this made me realize that TAMU and UT are like brother schools but tech on the other hand , thanks a&m for not booing hook em and gig em

  • I was there that day and wept like a child...I found this video and I find myself tearing up.

Mad respect for the Longhorns and the character and solidarity they showed that whole week and on the day of the game!

    Thanks Texas.

The 12 will Ne'er be forgotten.

    Gig 'em Ags!

  • As an Aggie grad, cadet and letterman I bleed maroon. Ten years have past since the bonfire collapse and while it still leaves me in tears, I will always remember the respect and class that our honored rivals at Texas lived out before the entire nation during that time. Most went unreported, only a little of what Texas actually did made the the news but to those unsung heros wearing orange-Thank You! You define class!

    tdean79

  • I have a brother that plays for ut. I am an aggie til i die. But when we speak of the bon fire the texas flag is all that flies!!!

  • i am a former student at texas a&m and was very touched by this. of course rivalry is huge between us but when rough things happen we remember first that we are fellow Texans and that when hard times come we are there for each other. I know plenty of longhorns who paid huge respects...so im proud to be an aggie and even more prouder to be a Texan! WHOOP!

  • Howdy, I am a proud Texas Aggie class of '09 and I am now attending law school at OCU. I am very touched by this video and wish to send a thanks to UT for their respect and sympathy.

Up here in Oklahoma, people don't understand that the rivalry between A&M and UT is for the most part friendly. I have been to the "Lonestar Showdown" at both A&M and UT, where the atmosphere has been very welcoming for both schools.

Once again, thank you UT :)

  • thanks t-sippers, that touched my heart

  • The day Bonfire fell is the day I stopped hating UT. The care and camaraderie they showed that day and the weeks to follow were second to none. There is no greater respect for universities than Texas and A&M (though we are rivals).

We will never forget. Hook 'Em and Gig 'Em

  • I go to A&M and i am a proud aggie, but i have got to say that I actually like Texas because they show class. Unlike the losers at Texas Tech or University of Oklahoma.

  • That'll always be a classy gesture.

  • At first I was going to say it was incredible that UT would do this, but it's not incredible. Aggie or Longhorn, were all Texans first. I know the Aggie band would do the same thing for the Long Horns but I hope we never have to. Thank you UT Band. The show band of the Southwest!

  • just...awesome!

  • As an A&M former student, I am absolutely touched by this performance. I was not at A&M when the Bonfire fell because I am class of '08, but this video brought tears to my eyes. I know we're rivals, but it's great to see such an amazing sign of respect and sympathy. I was also a member of the aggie band and would like to think we would have done the same if the tables were turned.

  • I was a freshman in high school when this happened and I remember it like it was yesterday! I am a UT and bleed orange but i can tell you i have the up most respect for TAMU and will never forget that day! I have a maroon ribbon that will be on my longhorns hat all season! God Bless the familys of the lost ones and God Bless The Great State Of TEXAS!!!

  • Hats off to UT for this. Very classy. That's Texans for you, fight tooth and nail on the field, but off the field we can hold out a helping hand and give a shoulder to lean on. SD Texas A&M Class of '89. Whoop!

  • this is really classy fot tu to do coming from a die hard ag all day evryday i am the 12th man...t.u. showed class

  • i like how you were the only person out of 85 comments as of now to call UT, "T.U."

  • im sorry i meant U.T. with all do respect im terribly sorry...

  • I was lucky enough to be at this game and it was an incredible moment. As an Aggie who grew up in Austin, all I can say is that was one classy performance!

  • I'm a die-hard Aggie fan, but I've got to say that it was really classy for UT to do this. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years! Gig 'Em Aggies...and Longhorns, you're a pretty good bunch after all. :)

  • classy

  • even though the Aggies and longhorns are longtime rivals, it's always good to put that hated for each other aside and come together to celebarate and morn the losses. if someone were to be laughing at this, they would probabily be a very cold and heartless person. i'm glad they put the hate aside for this tribute. good job you guys

  • This video reminds us that we are ALL Texans and should be proud of it.

  • Yep, I'm a Georgia Tech fan, and "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" would do the same. We've got tailored fight songs to belittle UGA, and they have ones to belittle Tech, but if something like this happened, respect would still be given.

Rivalry and school pride should never negate the fact that your rivals are people too...

    Good job, Texas.

  • Good bull,t-sips.

  • very good bull

  • AGGYDADDY- An outstanding demonstration of real class. I am proud to be a Texan. Howdy and out...

  • I'm an Alabama fan and the Iron Bowl vs Auburn is really passionate just like A&M and Texas....with all rivalries no matter how hated or how much trash talk there is, respect always comes out of rivalries and this is a class act.

  • I was in the Longhorn Band in 1999. If I remember correctly, the band director told us the only other time the band took off their hats on the field was after JFK was shot.

  • the longhorn band or aggie band?

  • @txaggie2011 Longhorn Band

  • I will gladly take my hat off any time I am fortunate enough to see the Texas Longhorn band. They have proven that they have class and pride--AGGYDADDY.

  • @txnascarguy Great stuff.

  • This is the first time I've seen this video. Probably one of the most classy scenes I've ever witnessed. Top Notch.

  • for maybe the first and only time, i have no problem with A&M flags on a UT field...

    Great job by the band!

    Hook'em

  • Actually, that's Kyle Field at Texas A&M University...

In odd numbered years (ie, 1999) the A&M-UT game is in College Station & in even numbered years the A&M-UT game is in Austin.

  • Wow. I can't believe it is going to be 10 years this fall. Does anyone know if there is going to be a 10 year memorial service?

  • there is a service every year at 2:42 am (the time it fell) at the site but ii would expect something special this year.

also since the a&m-ut game is in college station this year, i would expect something done at the game too.

  • Thanks. I was actually at that game. I was 8 at the time. My dad graduated from UT and we wore maroon ribbons to the game. I'm actually hoping to go to a&m because I'm hoping to become a vet.

  • I hope you make it in the Vet program. I'm sure your Dad would be proud no matter what school you attended

  • This shows that no matter what, we are fellow Texans and we are there for each other. Gig em + Hook em = Love em yall

  • may god bless there soul

  • completely and utterly amazing. Texas and A&M have something that no other rivalry in the state has- And I continue to believe that it is among the best in the nation. This rivalry hasent endured the past 125 or so years based on football results and pure hatred alone. This rivalry still burns bright because of mutual respect. It is not very common for a state to have 2 schools with so many resources in order to have a rivalry at this caliber. Gig Em Aggies and Hook em Horns.

  • Almost makes me forget that I can't stand UT haha only playing.

    Gorgeous and moving, Well done.

  • The Texas Longhorn Band showed tremendous class and no doubt if this accident happened at UT, the Texas Aggie Band would have showed the same tremendous class. No matter if your a Longhorn or an Aggie, never forget, we're all TEXANS in this great State of TEXAS! GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!

  • Class !
