  • Awesome track, and one of my all-time favourites from Citizen Band. This song preceded their 1979 release of the 'Just Drove Through Town' album by about 3 or 4 months, coming out towards the end of 1978.

  • Loved this song back in the day... still love it :)

  • I loved this band way back when I was in form 1 in Papakura, and had their album 'Just drove through town' if I recall the title? Regret that I gave it away. Also really liked their song 'Julia'. Classic stuff!!!

  • top kiwi old school

  • Danced to this song at the Gluepot in 1979.

  • Rob Muldoon borrowed so much money for the "think big projects" that mad dog Douglas had to sell everything off ten years later to stop NZ becoming a third World country.

  • He was handsome ...

  • Don't Give Me Culture was sung by The Knobz. It was their reaction to Rob Muldoon's criticism of the band Mi-Sex as not being 'culture' regarding music, as well as raising sales tax and import duties. I've got the album "Sudden Exposure" it's great 80's kiwi music!!!

  • Doe's anyone remember that song "don't give me culture",can't remember who by but had old rob muldoon (priminester at the time ) in it.

  • Good old NZ music

  • I remember seeing this on Radio with Picutres way back then

  • the guy from ABBA is playing guitar in this track

  • oh yes, remember it well

  • I LOVE this song!! Had the CD but it got stolen in a major home invasion - which really f****d me off!! This is a wicked song, an all time Kiwi fav. There was some real wicked NZ sounds in those days. Thanks for the post.

  • I loved this band live.Rust in My Car was my fav.I still love it.

  • Yea go New Zealand!!!!!

  • I'm an American who's just learning about this group: Did they ever hit the charts with anything? Was this a hit single down under? Good song, good video, by the way-much thanks for posting!

  • Hi nosleep. Good on ya for asking. Citizen Band were pretty big here in NZ. Yes, this was a single. Other songs that were hits were Good Morning Citizens and Julia. The Chunn brothers were fairly central NZ music figures.

  • Great to see this again. Saw them in an old theatre top of Symonds St, with The Plague, 1978 or 79. Fun times...

  • like rust in my car an traction in the rain...

    toyota aristo trust..

  • Thanks for posting. Great song. I remember seeing Citizen Band open for Cheap Trick at Auckland Town hall around 1978/79. My first real rock concert. Chur!

  • @zenboy64 OMG! I was there too - my first real rock concert too. It has all come flooding back. I think my ears are still ringing from that concert...loved it! Good times!

  • @Franbo649 Wicked! It was a great show.

  • My oh my those Chunn boys were TOO CUTE!

  • good song but I dont play in the mudd so I will take your word for it.ha ha

  • Well, I confess that Geoff in the "days" could certainly have easily convinced me to have gotten my feet a bit "muddy"...and the REST of me too, lol! BOTH brothers were absolute eye and ear candy! I was VERY dismayed when they dropped from Split Enz;IMHO the band never had another bass player as fine as Mike was...no offence to Nigel. But then again if they had STAYED we wouldn't have had THIS band to enjoy either.

  • My one eyed trouser snake spat in my eye bacuase this was So AWESOME! Thnaks to puhoi61 for posting!!!

  • Hey I went to school with Geoff and Mike Chunn.Kiwis rock-especially the older ones!

  • Watching this makes me remember how well Mike Chunn played off his fellow bandmates onstage, especially whoever is singing lead. I used to LOVE watching Mike play off Tim Finn onstage:he actually ENHANCED Tim's performances, something I confess I never saw Neil Finn do even half as well as Mike did. Watch the Split Enz B&W live tv performance of "No Bother To Me" for a great example of this. Mike Chunn was a TERRIFIC showman!

  • I HATE THE KNACK!!!!

  • Dude, this is Citizen Band, not The Knack.

  • I too don't like the Knack, but I DO like Citizen Band!

  • the drummer looks as dum as he drums, not to mention........ chun losers

  • forgot to say crap music, you w an krs burt my ears up till now

  • This the best music period in NZ short history, every pub had a band in Auckland and once it shut it was on to mainstreet in Queen st for more great kiwi or ozzy bands awesum memories, cheers for the clip.

  • Gosh I remember Golden Harvest, Citizen band and The Angels. Great times. remember seeing these guys at a free concert at Long Bay , Aucks

  • wow! forgot all about this tune. great flashback! brings back great memories of Auckland in the late 70's. Brilliant time for NZ music. thanks!

  • Ha ha! So great to see this old chestnut again - Mike Chunn looks so young (well I spose it was 30 years ago) Thanx for posting! :-)

  • Awesome and brilliant track, and one to bring to a close, the most eventful and prosperous year of 1978 in New Zealand.

  • Yes Golden Harvest,"I need your love". They played at Otahuhu college way back in the day(lol)...At lunchtime...hahaha

  • Thats right they were from Auckland.Great band Brent ended up drumming for the angels in Australia. PS does any one remember Golden Harvest. I went to school with the lead singers sister. Im Tattooing in Austalia now.

  • @TattooedScum Yea,I remember GH. I bought the 45 single when "I need your love" came out - I've still got it, they were wicked. You know, I always wonder, when they put NZ/Kiwi compiliation CDs out, why is it that they never put the classic "I need your love" on any of them?? There's aways a lot of the same songs or some not so good ones and some completely rubbish ones! If this song was on some of those CDs people wouldn't forget so easily, cause it sure was a big it.

  • @TattooedScum Oops, that' meant to read " ... sure was a big 'hit'..."

  • This takes me back .......about 1978 I think .

    Great Kiwi classic.

Were they from Auckland .Well done Puhoi61.

    Find some more .

  • Thanks for posting. I remember my cousin bought this song as a 45" single. There was a track on the flipside that I liked as well, 'Dig that tex'.
