  • only one of those four is not found in the Bible. If being the seed of Abraham, a polygamist, is akin to being the seed of Christ AND if Abraham's bosom, despite the fact that he practiced polygamy, is equated BY CHRIST with heaven, then why do you believe a follower of Christ can't possibly practice polygamy and be saved?

  • The only verse that supports polygamy is the verse from the Doctrine and Covenants (LDS literature). God, to the best of my knowledge, never encourages polygamy. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and Abraham is no exception; I mean Abraham lied about Sarah being his wife and said that she was his sister and God forgave these sins committed out of weakness.

  • Abraham never married anyone other than his wife Sarah. He did have a son, Ishmael, through Sarah's handmaid Hagar, but this was done because of the lack of Sarah's faith that God would provide a son, so she brought Hagar to Abraham. Abraham did yield to this temptation but there is no doubt that Sarah's action played a key role in Abraham's willingness.

  • In the end, Abraham ended all his adulterous affairs. Hagar left (Gen 21:8-21). Abraham obeyed God and sent Hagar away. Gen. 25:6 talks about how Abraham's concubines' sons were sent away. Sarah eventually died, (Gen. 23:1-2) and only then did Abraham lawfully marry Keturah (Gen 25)

  • God, nor Sarah, nor Abraham, considered any of it adultery. And to only look at Abraham is to ignore the fact that Isaac, Jacob/Israel, and even Moses, all participated in polygamy. Even in the case of Solomon God had the chance to reprove him for having many wives YET he only reproved him for taking wives from outside the covenant. None of this was ever referred to, nor considered, adultery. So why do you consider it such?

  • 22 Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

    23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.

  • And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

  • HEARKEN to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.

    2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.

  • 37 Abraham received concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousness, because they were given unto him, and he abode in my law; as Isaac also and Jacob did none other things than that which they were commanded; and because they did none other things than that which they were commanded, they have entered into their exaltation, according to the promises, and sit upon thrones, and are not angels but are gods.
