@hellsing1983 Meshuggah is Experimental metal. Djent. Textures is Progressive metal. More modern thrash/metalcore like.
I am beginning to quite like this band though, especially with these nice ambiant, environmental songs like Surreal State of Enlightenment and To Erase A Lifetime. Really interesting work. I have never been too big on Tool and Cynic, this kind of shit, but it's really growing on me. Meshuggah is still my number influence though, albeit I'm a Brutal Deathmetal guy.
But Meshuggah doesn't do clean vocals. Plus meshuggah used like only one guitar technique for all their songs. Don't get me wrong I love them. But textures ain't a clone or wannabe.
If you bash this, then start bashing Hacride or even Gojira.
i disagree with most statements in that textures are not merely clones, they've done massive ambient passages that meshuggah have only come close to in catch 33.However,meshuggah do sound similar to this, not that im slagging either band!
Well, if you listen to songs like 'Awake' from Textures, it sounds so much different, a lot more feeling to it, instead of Meshugga, who, in my opinion, depend on their aggresiveness instead of differences in feelings in one song.
This hasn't anything of progressive. This is like Meshuggah. Why people call this progressive????
I think they just do variations on the rhytm. The rest is just trash/death metal

this band sounds more organic then Meshuggah. Meshuggah has a more static approach. I love both bands :D same genre buth different sound :)

Yeah, it's one of their influences maybe.
