You can photograph it . It just requires a longer exposure, ideally at least matching the orbital frequency. i.e. 10Hz = 10th sec exposure.

wrong place to ask the question. easy way to do is put one of the pins (left or right not center) on to ground and the other on high. then the middle pin "the wiper" goes to pin 5 on the 555
