  • I'm seriously considering gettin' one of these now. I'm plannin' on a bear huntin' trip. Would you trust this as a sidearm?

  • @AGhostlyCalm not the brass frames, you cant put enough powder in it with out taking a chance on cracking the frame. you get a steel frame, and up close as a secondary firearm would work, to get you out of a jam. i probaly wouldnt go as a primary. but they use to hunt buffalo with them. thats same tough hide. i carry one as a back up when i go hog hunt'n. they are a load of fun to shoot. thanks for watchn!

  • @BOHEMIANHUNTINGCLUB Appreciate it. Boar huntin' sounds fun, too. My friend was talkin' about it. I know how vicious they can be, too. I'd probably carry one of these or one of those super comanche .410 pistols as a backup. Anything's better than some damn mace lol I'm also interested in those derringers. I'm not a huge gun nut. I've never been a pistol person. I shoot with high powered rifles mostly. Remington 30-06 Woodsmaster is my gun of choice..damn.now I wanna watch Ghost and the Darkness.

  • saddly no one produce lefaucheux revolver repliqua

  • i take it all apart, being very careful not to ruin screw heads, threads. put it in a rubbermaid bucket with hot water and dawn or simple green with a added solvent i add from track of the wolf co. scrub all parts and dry them, oil them and reassemble it all. the biggest trick i learned is to take your time and dont force anything that may be stuck or frozzen. these guns are made of soft metal and can be easily damaged. baby them and appreciate the tech of those days used.

  • i never thought about dipping these before to clean them. i bet its a lot easier on it too. thanks for watchn and for passing that along!

  • Hi, i have a question... I just reseaved a 1851 navy colt .44 cal with a brass frame for christmas and i am a avide deer hunter and maryland law states that u have to use 40 grains of powder to hunt with a black powder handgun and i was woundering if 35 grains would hurt the gun?

  • your taking a chance with the brass cracking. i wouldn't do it. i dont go over 25. you can get the steel frame 1851's and use more powder. thanks for watching!

    james

  • @BOHEMIANHUNTINGCLUB Since the .44 caliber Cap & Ball barrel has the same bore dimensions as a present day .45 centerfire caliber can you use .45 caliber 225gr. Powerbelt bullets that cabela sells with this weapon? the aerotip copper plated bullets? the ones for muzzleloaders. or a .45 sabot?

  • @ScorchNBurn338 i'm not 100% sure if these could take those or not. i have looked around in the past for conical bullets and couldnt find any that work. but i have heard of people using them, i didnt see it so it's just hear say. but i will take a look into seeing if they can be used with these or if it has to be a steel frame. i'd rather use a conical round.thanks for watchn and sorry i couldnt be much help at the moment, if i find out something for sure, i'll let you know

  • still have not found the best way to clean mine... had it for about a year and a half now and I clean the thing about once every three weeks and the barrel is pitted =/ I can still give my dad a hard time when i shoot this against his 1873 SAA Colt. Any good tips for better cleaning??? Thanks, Ham

  • they do get dirty fast. i'll give it a regular cleaning after each range day, lube it good. then break it down completely about once month. taking the cylinder apart and spraying the spings in the action down. these do shoot great!! thanks Ham for watchn!
