lol the girl with the pink is such a cow, she doesnt accept FSM, just because she is christian, but I guess she would accept something sugested by christian without hesitating...
I noticed that the girl in pink got upset that her image was going to be shown on the Internet or in other forms of media that are publicly accessible. The author could have just pixelated her face. In fact I think that would have enhanced the viewing experience of everyone watching. Miserable cow.
Wow... that chick in the pink shirt taking up two seats really needs to watch her words. The FSM is a religion, would she be this callus if a group of Mormon's or Muslim's came forward to start a club?
@HopeforTomrrow09 Um.... That wasn't exactly what I meant. I meant that she was really being very disrespectful. If a Morman or Islamic group wanted to open a club, she should be respectful because it is a religious club. She is being a total bitch to them for their beliefs, it doesn't matter if it sounds ridiculous- it is their beliefs.
You know what I'm saying? No disrespect or anything, just wanted to clarify what I meant.
That bulbous heretic had the audacity to say her time was being wasted? Someone should inform her that there will be plenty of time to eat and not exercise later.
Wow wow wow wow... back up the truck folks. I'd just like to say that I'm a fellow Pastafarian just like you guys but only for SHITS AND GIGGLES!!! Pastafarianism is in no way shape or form meant to be taken seriously in any sense... except the Eight I'd Really Rather You Didn'ts, but only because they make good logic sense. In the real world, I'm an atheist. Pastafarianism is just for fun, not for serious. If people really believe in the FSM then we are one really big dumb bunch.
Our Pastafarian brethren would have been more effective, I believe, had they mirrored Christians or Mormons - ie - they should have came off more bat-shit-crazy. I think the retards on the board would have gone for that.
This is outrageous! For one, the pink woman (how could you miss her, she was bright and giant) was basically saying that she didn't believe in it, therefore the FSM does not exist. Also, it angers me to see that the PSS constitution was basically a stitched up version of other religious group constitutions, but instead it got rejected.
Bravo to the excellent speaking done by the PSS and their commitment to equality.
The members were obviously biased. Pastafarianism is as good a religion as any other mainstream religion (Christianity, Islam, etc.) because no religion is legally recognized by the government. So why would they go through the trouble of looking for technicalities to try and deny the club if they've already approved clubs with similar constitutions unless they have their own hidden religious agendas. Prepare for your stale beer and strippers with STD's.
they screwed the argument up, they should have made the point that it is a religion, they will be discussing philosophy, society and the idea of religion as a whole, they tried to use technicalities to stop the group, wonder how many other religious groups they go through that with?!
if they were starting some Christian group i doubt there'd be much opposition, this is bullshit!
my favorite line about pastafarianism is "Way to regurgitate a Richard Dawkins talking point, good to see we still have some free thinkers out there."
genuine religious discrimination. Pastafarianism needs to be recognized by the government so people like this can finally get their asses kicked for thinking this isn't actually a religion.
This is awesome :) When I saw these guys recruiting for their club today, I HAD to check youtube for them. I am glad they approved this club and I think it's silly that someone would get offended by it.
I say they should try to get all the other religious clubs deconstituted so that freedom of religion can reign free. Shame on those close-minded and biased student union bigots.
This was a ridiculous and frankly insulting charade put on by the SU. Clearly 2 members where already biased to the group and the others, though not appearing biased, were fully prepared to pick the constitution apart. Its just another example of the oppression of ideas within authority, I would take it to court quite frankley and give them a taste of Authoritive oppresion. -May his noodley appendage bless you siblings
Actually, I'm furious with Jeremy Zhao. Student government is not a joke. People are serious about this with such high turnout rates and knowledge about the SU. People spend time trying to fight for students and you come in I believe that Jeremy should honestly be banned for his actions because the SU is correct all the time. This is no popularity contest, this is serious political business. Jeremy better follow the rules and conform to what the SU wants. I'm writing a complaint letter right now
I believe the designation of "half-wits on campus" is perhaps the best title my friends and I will get, so thank you. In many ways, student government is serious business and no one should make fun of it, criticize it, or in anyway, shape, or form hold it accountable. Jeremy Zhao, please stop the shenanigans, because $20,000 on a retreat in a houseboat is crucial to council. Shame on you Jeremy!
Some people believe that having a platform with empty promises is better than a platform with no promises. Remember Sam, I received 17% of the vote, only 3% behind Lauren, which doesn't make that much of a difference. I would applaud the professionalism of Alex Judd and Justin Brown, and to a lesser extent Bryan Campbell and Inder Sapal (sp). Since Stainless3 wants to call this a stunt and the other campaigns legit, I will exploit some key flaws in the system.
Yes, I agree... partially. In many ways, student government is valuable and this is little more than a shameless stunt.
However, Jeremy Zhao is within his right to form a ridiculous club provided that it follows the rules of the SU, and provides a service to the students on campus. If his constitution is amended, his fealty to the FSM is irrelevant. The Pastafarian students deserve a chance, just like anyone else. Even the half-wits on campus deserve a voice.
I agree. Particularly when this stunt is seen in the context of the 'campaign' that Jeremy ran in the previous by-election, one can only applaud the committee's professionalism.
I have to say, I am very proud of the members in Students Union. All of which had a PLATFORM, that the students at the University of Calgary believed in. Some people just a have a hard time understanding that the student government is not a joke.
