That is a traditional portuguese way of cooking (although the cataplana is from the north africans)...but that wasn't a typical dish, he has made that up himself. looks nice though but needs some corriander

It uses tomato sauce instead of real tomatoes and all of the ingredients look a bit.... too asseptic...

The real cataplana looks more organic.

And smeals great!

@drethekiller Ia up concordo, se bem que para o fazer com os produtos reais (como o tomate) o chefe teria que alterar a ordem dos ingredientes. O tipo não é assim muito honesto quanto á verdadeira cozinha Portuguesa.

Quanto ao facto de a Cataplana ser originária do Norte de África... Bem é comum em Portugal odptarem-se os costumes de outros países, sobretudo porque a propria população portuguesa é uma autêntica "mistura".

I've worked in several restaurants in the Algarve (southern Portugal) and cataplana is never made like this. It is made from a reduction of fresh tomatoes, rather than tomato sauce, and the seafood is added last. The essential spices are paprika and nutmeg.
