  • Where can I find custom rims to put on my tricycle ??

  • luke i am you father

  • I just got it its so cool

  • I have l

  • Those hub brakes are absolute trash, I ended up ripping them off my bike all together.

  • mmmmmm... your husband has breathing problems or something I see

  • 269 bux kmart

  • I Have This Same Bike With The Same Color But I Took The Basket Off And Put 2 6x9's And 2 10's With Pop Trunk , Neons , A Jensen Flip Screen Radio And A Ostrich Seat.

  • Did she steal this bike ? It sounds like the cops are after her.

  • @oldtiedyeman We live in a city.

  • How did you guys keep the seat from moving foreword or backward? Can't figure that out! The manual says there is another screw that differs from the one that I did but I can't find it. It moves foreword and back on that little black cylinder under the seat. I screwed both sides of it tightly and it still moves. Any input would be rad D:

  • @thenurr sorry it took a bit to reply, a few days, I coulnt find the password to sign in. I'm not too sure , the bike was sold several months ago. I want to get a new one though still or somthing. I had some problems with the seat also, mainly becuase I may have tightend the spring screws too much or something, and need like an air wrench to get them loose to readjust the whole thing. Maby ask some bike show, thats somewhat of a common seat, not much different than most.

  • @BettysBike Actually I did get it fixed, and I was tighening the bolt right on one side but wrong on the other :P Silly me!

But yeah, I had to put this bike together without a manual for it so it was a challenge. I'm going to take it to Wal Mart to get all the parts checked and adjusted. My boyfriend and I are really happy with the bike and are planning a nice bike trip in two weeks :) Thanks for the response!

  • @thenurr It's a nice bike. It's good to get some kind of light, and maby a bell for it. I think the instruction sheet was like a single page or something, maby an addition to the regular Schwinn Manual which is basically a generic manual for any of their bikes. It could be a bit difficult to put together, the back section onto the front section. Have to make sure the chain is not too loose or tighter there.

  • too bad is not an american shwinn,, many folks dont no but since 1993 the company shwinn,, sold out to china thats why now any one can buy a cheap shwinn at any walmart,, or any where there not the same ever since chinese took over

  • I had to blank the sound a bit, maby a few words had to be removed.

  • whats so great about this granny trike??

  • @OGxLOKO187 Can carry some heavier stuff, and people, and those with riding problems, or get a "tandem bike".

  • the seat that i currently have on my new bike is really hard. i am looking forward to buying a softer seat, if i have enough money.

  • I just bought that kind of bike last week. When I took it out of the store, the bike wanted to go it's own way and it was hard to steer. Maybe because I wasn't used to that kind of bike. But now, I am able to steer it just right. When I get off and onto a sidewalk, I have to be careful because the bike will tip to one side. It sure is fun. And now, it is hard to fit back into my old bike--a 2 wheeled bike.

  • I had to buy another seat I felt like the orginal was gooseing me

  • do they have two brake handles? Also do they have pettle brakes?

  • @crayzzriggs There is a front brake that is similar to a regular bicycle, and a rear brake that is special for the bike that is basically a felt pad that gets squeezed against a small wheel....and this is basically inside a small metal container. There is no pedal brake system, it is similar to a regular 10 speed or geared bicycle.

  • how can I get extra wheels and a basket?

  • @silliegirl50 Probably special order from Schwinn or Pacific Cycle, you'd have to call them I guess. The front wheel looks common probably, but the back look like special ones. I guess its possible to make a basket out of some material like wood or metal, but probably be easier to order one.

  • I just got mine, so very cool.

  • I just bought this and am excited to receive it in the mail :) What are the dimensions of the back basket?

  • Looks about 2 feet long, 1.5 feet wide, and about 1 foot deep. Its big, and the bike basket can carry perhaps 30lbs , but it depends on how heavy the rider is also for total bike weight.

  • Oh, thank you :) Also, thank you for posting these videos. I cannot wait to get my trike :) And, I'm so excited that the basket will be big enough for my dogs ;)

  • If you think they might jump out of the basket, I guess it is possible to make if taller and/or fully enclosed. I guess some carboard and blankets down in the basket would help also.

  • This trike sells for $249 at Walmart.

  • this bike doesn't go for 150 wtf?!?! it goes for like 340

  • @donth8mecuzu8ntme Oh, we got it at a slight discount because I think it was a store return for some odd reason and then resold. It was basically bran new when we got it. Sometimes you see them for $250 - keep looking - check Ebay, etc.

  • what did u do for a diff??..i dont see one inperticularilly but it looks like its 2wd and i see the wheels moveing at seprate speeds when turning

  • I'm not sure, I think the front crank sprocket is bigger than the back, so when you pedal arond once, the back wheels go at a different rate.

  • ....

    wow

k im not talkin about the front cranck,,lean what a diff iss first buddy..and obviously yes they turn at a diffrent rate

  • theres too many things to learn here and there and i dont have any time or even desire, just try to be considerate of that when you see people, for example many people love cars, drive well, take care of them, yet are actually clueless mental midgets when it comes to exactly how it was made or what it's made of inside

  • it goes for 150 but some ass tried selling me a used one for 180 with messed up braking. good trike tho

  • the guy sounded like rain man. lol

  • dang i want one of those..

  • Does it look like you can add a child trailer to it? I'm thinking of buying this and a trailer for my wife for Xmas.

  • I seen online, alot of trailers connect to the seat post and it looks like they probably wont connect easilly due to the length needed, etc and it will cover the basket area. Maby somekind of homeade welded attachemt can be connected below the basket area. I looked online I didnt see a trailker for it. Maby you can call Schwinn or Pacific Cycle and see if they have any idea also.

  • Thanks for this video and all the info you provided. I'm consiering this one or the folding bike.

  • Can you retrofit the trike with a 3spd hub? Anyone have instructions? Thx.

  • I haven't seen anyone do that with this bike, it's possible maby, but there are multi-speed trikes available for a bit more money.

  • I added a three speed hub and kick brake to my Schwinn Meridian. It makes a huge difference for long rides and heavy loads.

The parts are Shimano but it's a special kit you need to order from a Torker Distributor. I got mine from Sellwood Cyclery here in Portland, Ore.

I love my Meridian which I refer to as the "Disco Trike" - YouTube search Disco Trike if you want to see it in action.

    Thanks for posting!

  • To pdxktv, I'm interested too in retrofitting my meridian with a 3-speed hub...Do you remember the Shimano 3-speed hub kit model/part number that you ordered? Maybe I can order it online or ask a Torker dealer. Appreciate your response. Thanks.

  • You can't order it directly from Shimano. It's a combonation of parts you have to get from a Torker dealer. The folks a Sellwood Cycles are great and I am sure they would take care of it for you. The wait on mine was very long and the installation was a bit tricky. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

    dan

  • I have an old Schwinn Town and Country on a 1952 J.C. Higgins, let's race...

  • You are too cute on your tricycle!!! I have been debating and debating on whether or to get one of these. I want to get one for like rides to the grocery store and stuff but it is pretty hilly. Do you think this would be a good option?

  • If it's a hilly route, then probably not a good idea if the hills are longer than 50 feet.

  • u should make that into a chopper trike

thats wut i would do ;)

  • it's crying out for a weekend in the garage and the spareparts pile :) this trike would make a great custom base bike.

  • Thanks for the quick reply! While I have your ear, what do you think about using this bike for commuting purposes? I have a 4.8 mile commute on mostly flat land. Would this be doable in an hour, one way?

  • The bike can travel at 8 to 9 miles and hour at an effort but still comfortable. It can go higher but then more effort is needed. A 4.8 miles trip is really not far on a bike, walking maby it is, on bike it should only take about half an hour. Some people can go 50 miles a day on a standard bike, at 10 miles per hour, it would take "only" 5 hours.

  • Looking at getting one of these babies. Any info on weight limit? I'm a big guy!

  • If I find out I'll let know. I looked on the web and that value is hard to find. It's at least 250 lbs I think, but perhaps 300 might be max, but thats a guess for now.

  • Walmart also has the Trifecta Folding trike. Cost the same as the Schwinn. I'm not sure which one to get.

  • Ok, I went and looked at the ad for it. The Trifecta has 20 inch rims , the Meridian has 26 inch which is for adults and heavier weight people. The Trifecta also has a weight capacity of 210, Im not certain right now what the weight capacity of the Meridian is. If you want to ride farther I recomend a bike with 26 inch rims and tires. A bike that folds up is nice though for trasport to the park in a car.

  • How do you transport the Schwinn? The Trifecta might fit in the trunk of my car. That's why I am thinking about getting one to take to park or beach. Costs $11/hr to rent a trike at the beach.

  • The Schwinn Meridian is hard to transport, so we don't. We just keep it in the house and ride in the local area.

  • Schwinn will always have replacement parts...Not so sure about WalMart...I'd ask

  • Hey, Great bike!!!

How wide is the widest part of the bike? I want to get this bike for my mom, but I want to make sure it will fit through our gate or front door.

  • The width at the widest part is about 32 or 33 inches. I have some other text in the "more info linke", and some on the channel page for BettysBike. It will go through most modern-wide doors, but you often have to have the bike aligned straight into the doorway...takes a bit of practice and patience, but what you get out of the bike is worth it.

  • It's official. A teen yelled "Awesome bike" at me when she drove by--and we know teens know everything.

  • NOTE ON REAR FENDER ASSEMBLY: Do not put on the basket first even though the instructions say so. You need the room to get the fender bolts tightened. If the fenders are dented from shipping, put tape on the jaws of your pliers and straighten them out. That way you don't scar the paint. I used vice grips and pliers to tighten the fender bolts. When you finish putting a fender on, pick up that wheel and spin it to make sure the fender is not rubbing the tire.

  • Thanks for the comment, I hope others will read it. That's how we did it also, since we rode around without the basket for a few days. Betty (Elizabeth) loves the bike. Sometimes it gets some bumps and needs a little paint, and its sometimes hard to move into the house....we actually pick the front end up to make it easier.

  • Cool bike, where can I get a pair?

  • You can try Walmart. You might have to order it there, maby, but the shipping will probably be free.

  • Ah, now I know which way is up on the back piece. Thank you. This is a real find.

  • Your posting is a jewel find for me. I was considering buying this model trike. This video and your assembly advice is extremely helpful.

THANK YOU! Betty, hope you're enjoying your new ride!

  • Thanks for the comment. Betty went 18 miles today.

  • pimp that ride!!!

    even the stock is nice

  • I agree - thanks for the video. My Mom and I were out looking at trikes today and of all those we saw the schwinn looks the best. Reading your comment about how once up to speed the bike seems to push itself is good to note, we were wondering about how it would ride. The Schwinn we saw was already sold so Mom could not ride it. We're making a trip to another store that has one so she can ride & try it out. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the comment. First, hopefully you live/ride in an area that is sort of "flat" or level ground rather than hill all over the place which makes riding difficult. The bike rides ok..if you turn sharp at a reasonable speed though, it's best to lean your body in the direction of the turn also. I tightened the seat so that its not too "gushy feeling". Personally, the handlebars could be redesigned a bit...but I guess its some tried and true ones they dont want to get rid of I guess.

  • A regular 2 wheel bike, you can expect 10 to 12 miles at a constant steady speed, but with the trike due to the three wheels and weight, you can expect about 7 to 8 continuous speed for a few miles distance if the rider is capable for it.

  • Thanks for posting the video! Your comments helped me assemble it...I was scratching my head for a bit until I read it :)
