  • I luv Dr. Gates eloquence. He is a marvelous teacher.

  • it's all fine n great BUT this crap about "us americans would lead the charge to this new realm of physics" that is soo lame .. didnt know cosmology was going through a "world cup"! : (

  • @Setherian I swear, we Americans can't win. If we're not being accused of a blatant disregard for national pride, we're being condemned for having any.

  • If I thought scientists could become pop stars I wouldn't have turned into a bum! :p

  • Incredible (literally) subject and an amazing presentation.

We don't need metaphors to explain the unfamiliar, just clear and well thought mental model descriptions, Gates does a wonderful job.

  • Excellent attempt at organizing complexity into simplicity

  • you go Gates

  • my compuret go slowly

but this vid go fast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

    goooooooooooooooog

    bye

  • Truly wonderful, an amazing speaker, and surely a great way to begin to understand some of these theories! Wonderful, great stuff! Many thanks for making this available! Be well.

    Peace,

  • WHY DO I NOT HEAR ABOUT 4 DIMENSIONAL STRING THEORY?

  • Prof Gates is one of my new role models, thank you for this opportunity to better understand string theory and develop alternate ways in viewing things in general!

  • Hi I am not from Sweden.

  • Hi, Im from sweden

  • What would happen is rather than eliminating a few bombers, we eliminated them all -- a safer, most advanced world. Damn the intolerant MIC which we have all been warned about.

  • just went to one of his brief talks in UWA. Smart dude. 32 dimensions according to string theory, and his "anti-matter' stuff is amazing. If it can be proven to exist in the hadron collider, then we may actually live in a Matrix (computer generated world) its crazy stuff, were they are linked to binary.

  • Excellent. Opens my eyes for the 4-D strings. I thought strings needed the higher dimensions. I really like this presentation. He also advocates awareness of science for America's future leadership in science and tech. Great!

  • I can't do Physics but i like listening to people who can. Prof' Gates was very interesting. Thanks for posting this tptweb.

  • This guy is a great Prof to have. If you can, take a class of his at UMD.

  • I like how he uses music as an analogy and gives credit to the ancient philosophers.

If string/brane theory turns out to be describing our universe then Pythagoras was not far from the mark when he evoked his music of the spheres.

  • Gates is very refeshing to listen to b/c he doesnt expect too little of his audience.

  • hold on, i'm still picking up the pieces of my skull - meh head kind of exploded with this video...

    absolutely brilliant ;)

  • lol this is so far beyond that audience. it looks like they're bored out of their skulls. it was very interesting though,.

  • That was fantastic.
