  • thank you!

  • A brilliant film in every respect. Thank you. And always wonderful to see Anna May Wong. This is a rare treasure. Thank you.

  • 8:00 onwards absolutely terrifies me every time. The screaming of the train, the panic of the villagers, the gradual revelation that the train tracks go RIGHT THROUGH the centre of the town. Fuck...

  • I disagree with everything that has been said by everyone on this page. Bring it on. XD

  • Can someone tell me why in these films they say 'The players'? Always wondered why.

  • "may i call you Doc?"

  • It is little remembered today that when Shanghai Express was released, the Chinese government banned the movie and demanded that it be fully withdrawn from worldwide circulation with a threat to ban all Paramount films from China. The studio was able to appease the Chinese government by promising not to produce any more films that referred to the Chinese civil war.

  • I agree totally with jimbojamesIV...The only actors that come close to true acting are the ones coming out of Britain who have had classical training. I think that's why so many American movies are made with Brits, Aussies, Irish, etc. American actors are so spoiled and so dull...

  • haha look at 7:20 the people inside must be tiny, because everyone outside the train looks huge.

  • I love Eugene Pallete especially in My Man Godfrey.

  • oh thank You! I am gonna watch this movie tonight!

    Marlene suh a charm!

  • ahh hollywood what has become of you.

  • My fav of her! Thanks;-))

  • iti multumesc ca ai postat intregul film

  • Thank You so much for posting movie. I have always loved it and have wanted to watch again for some time. Clive Brook was very charming indeed!

  • Romantic times.............romantic people.

  • @am1966ath When people look back 50-100 years from now, will anyone be able to point to any cinema that approaches the best of the films (and there are many) from the 1930s and 40s?

  • @jimbojamesIV Frankly I don t think so..few of todays actors are actors, they are photomodels,bimbo-look good for nothing..also todays youngsters are quite uneducated and bored..things and people go out of fashion very quickly, we live by and with machines, computers, ipod etc....

  • @am1966ath

oh get out. that wasnt true back then? most of those actors in the 30s 40s were nothing back models and former stunt men like John wayne. whem marlene dietrich played a maid she refused to uglify herself, unlike what many actresses today would do. for example she'd never have done what charlize theron did in monster. 30s and 40s wer about popcorn films for the masses. stop kidding yourself.

  • @dusk1234567890 the film industry has always been pop-corn, look at Bollywood films, they are nothing but escape from reality. True that films have become more realistic, also showing explicit sex and violence like the pervert Tarrantino and his Kill-Bill gore violence story. True to find a John Wayne or a Marlene today...Brad Pitt is mostly about his good looks and special effects. Julia Roberts is just smiles and her interpretation of a L.A. hooker isn t realistic either.

  • @am1966ath

brad pitt is a great actor. unlike many of the actors back then. or perhaps you didn't understand my writing? and why bring up julia roberts? she's not the only actress in the world. what about Meryl Streep, natalie portman and dozens of actresses around the world who have proven themselves at putting art before commerce. actors and actresses back then would never understand how people would that. back then they were all about stardom and nothing else.

  • @dusk1234567890 Natalia Portman isn t a great actor..her performances in the infantil star wars series is not acting. Its a lot of costumes and special effects and millions of afectionados who whan t to see stars wars. Same with the filmatisation of Tolkiens book, the fellowship of the Ring and the other two books. Its an absolute bore to read and the films just take out the action. Btad Pitt is not an actor.he is a male bimbo,sex-athlete who fits into action films and dramas.Steep is an actor

  • @am1966ath

and what about her perfomance in Closer or Black Swan? you seem to enjoy bringing up a lot of crap just to justify your ignorant beliefs. I mean come on, why bring up lord of the rings, what the hell does that have to do with anything. And about Brad Pitt, if what you say is true about him then he is no different than the majority of actors from the 40s and 30s.

  • @am1966ath sorry but I BEG to differ...I'm 15 and although some young people my age can be described as ''uneducated and bored'' I think its downright unfair to label all of us in such a way...maybe some turn out in such away because of expectations like the ones you just expressed.

  • Love this film. Thanks for posting this gem!

  • Thanks for posting this movie I really enjoyed it. Love the first two parts with the train loading and leaving the station. So much detail. Great!

  • Thank you a lot for sharing with us this classic film, one of most interesting with impressive Marlene Dietricht.

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Been on a real Dietrich kick lately. LOVE her.
