Tried out the boss me 70 and the pod hd 300 equally at allans last week....the pod hd 300, in my opinion, is easily worth the extra $30!! I thought i was 100% sure of the boss me70 from all the online reviews, but believe me, its not!...
i have a boss me50 that i love so much. i'd like to get my hands on the me70 as well. the preamp is perfect for recording when just plugging the pedal in
@bryans42 Hi Bryans42, this is a very easy pedal to use without pre-setting anything. The ME70 has 36 Preset Patches by default. Just switch to memory mode and every pedal become a preset effect patch!
@jeffgnr hey man my friend has a geddy lee fender bass and plugged my me70 into his amp for fun.the od'ds is kinda pointless, besides the light overdrives and boosts. also, the compressor/ autowah stuff sounded really good. if u use delay, it sounds pretty standard, and phasers/ flangers and other modulations sound good as well as reverb. totally worth it
from my experience, Boss are GREAT for effects and stuff, but really lack when it comes to a real heavy distortion. if you want a great metal sounding pedal, have a look at something made by line 6 or digitech.
Man i want mine to sound like Cowboys from Hell distortion but I can't get it close - if anyone knows a link to a dimebag type setting please let me know. Boss webpage was no help
it sounds great here, but it seams to suck the tone out of my guitar (and i have a nice rig). the gain is either wayy too trebly or too bassy, and almost all of the other effects add gain(eg: compresser, delay, defretter). anyone know why?
Hey! Question: I've bought one of theese babies and when I use the loop station, the recorded phrases' volume is much more reduced. Can anyone help me? Am I doing something wrong? Asides from that, works great =D
im looking for a ANGELS AND AIRWAVES sound can this pedal do that look them up if you have never heard of them please i really need your help they use a lot of delay phaser flanger and chorus thanks search "the adventure - angels and airwaves"
I would like to know what's effect or Patch you use first with de pedal expresion, what kind of wah wah? add chorus? How do you get this sound? you play it on minute 1:30
@HybridSalvation did you have any luck with that? i have ableton which i used with my korg pandora px5d. it recorded unbelievable clear. im planning to get an me70 too.
@stevevai0 I guess that the Boss me70 is better, because the sound of the digitech products are more digital and sintetic (in my opinion) but it's all in the personal preferences. I really recomend both.
@stevevai0 Well, yes, is a very good idea. I recomend test both pedals and some individual pedals and make a decision. Keep in mind the comfort, ease and quality of the product when you test it. I hope this helps, and good luck with your choice, I'm completly sure that you will be happy with anyone of those pedals. ^^
@stevevai0 I think that the HyperMetal is good for that, but the Digitech RP500 have a lots of distorsions and overdrives based on Boss, MXR, DOD, Ibanez, and other pedals.
@stevevai0 The hard way in the Steve Vai's sound is the tone, you can get it with EQ (from the RP500 or an individual pedal) a good delay (RP500 have it) Reverbs (RP500) and the wahs and Whammy (Digitech have the best simulation of Vox and Cry Baby Dunlop wahs so you have it in the RP). Maybe you don't need another pedal, but it's all in your ears.
The price of all digi stuff is 10 % after 2 to 3 years. I use analog pedals. This meens that all digistuff price is 10 % after 2 or 3 years you bought it. And analogs price gets only higher .
@AYONPA I had the same question for a while, so I went to my local music store and tried both of them out. The tonelab's tube distortion sounded nicer than the me70's digital distortion, but I ended up settling on the me70. Here's why--for $300 (me70) I get a pedal with a phrase loop. Tonelab is $400, no loop, but better distortion. You can always buy the me70 and put out an extra $100 for a better distortion pedal to use with it. I'm happy with my purchase and the distortion's been fine so far.
first of all the price difference to the ME-70 is not much. And it has everything you need, from the basics like distortion, delay, chorus, wha. also has some good clean, but has more things for you. if you are up and purchases, please tell me the price.
well i think in US dollars its about $400 on eBay. (inc post) I was trying to buy 1 but thought id just get something more basic like a boss MT-2 then maybe get ME-70 down the track.
....btw ive been looking at the difference with the ME-70 and ME-50, the ME-70 deffinately has more features BUT, i think the ME-50 has more OD/DS settings than the ME-70
I just bought one, and it's pretty incredible. You really do get the Boss pedals in one unit, and it's adjustable like the pedals are. The price sucks, but it's worth it if you want a great multi effects unit, and it's cheaper than buying all the pedals separately. The loop, and various other delays are simply awesome.
can someone help, my friend has an me-20 and i find it fun, cool and easy to use, however seeing as this is more effect-loaded than the me 20, will it still be easy to use?
I've tried the metal distortion on this ( I don't think he did on this vid, 'cause if he did, he used some shitty settings ) , because I'm looking for that kind of distortion too, and I think it's very nice, so I do think that this pedal is good for metal.
And I agree that it sounds like rock 'n roll, so don't worry : P
its really not that difficult unless youre fucking retarded you tur the knob by harmonist and theres a knob that says harmony or something like that and raises and lowers it...not that difficult
RP500. it is true bypass so it doesnt change the sound of your amp, it just adds the effect. but the boss isnt true bypass so it will slighty change the tone of your amp.
But can someone run it through simple speakers or a cab that would be great lol you wouldnt have to pay for an amp since that pedal has it all So can it play the role of an amp head ps i feel stupid for posting this haha
Actually, if you have a neutral amp, eg a stereo with an aux input , or run it directly into the mixer of a P.A. or recording mixer, you don't need an amplifier. Running it straight through a cab is impossible, since the pedal alone does not have the neccessary wattage to power, e.g. a 4X12 cab.
I got rid of my me-50 because it was just too noisy into a high gain amp, white noise galore. I'll bet this one suffers from the same problem. I'm tired of buying their multi-pedal platforms because they refuse to get it right in hopes you'll upgrade next year, very frustrating.
Ummm, what should i do, buy a cheap amp with none effects and this pedal, or a more exspensive amp with lots of digital effects?? Line 6 Spider III, or morgan 30 watt amp, and this pedal?
How experienced are you with a guitar? I mean, since it seems like u dont have a amp already :)
I just bought a boss me70 the other day, waiting for it to get shipped. I have a cube 20x, which is just a 20 watt, however it plays great and has a very good sound.
So I would recommend a boss me70 and a decent amp, if not the spider III is a really nice amp, there I would go for the 120watts, since its only about 100 bucks more, and gives a much better and wider sound, good for loud playing.
i have an amp, but it sucks, but i dont think that will matter, because i cant play loud at my room. My question really, was would a shitty amp destroy the sound quality and effects? Ive been playing for 7 months, check ou my channel if u want to know about how good i am.
Really depends on the amp mate :) If the sound is clean and wide you shouldnt worry, and should go for the pedal board which will give you lots of practice using pedals & effects. :) Go for the me70 :)
The EQ and the COSM models cannot be used simultaneosely, but either one can be used with any of the effect pedals or a combination thereof.. So you can either have the effects with EQ or effects with COSM PreAmp, not a preamp with separate EQ.
not exactly, if you use the COSM amp models, the EQ behaves like the tone control on an amp, but it is possible to run the EQ as a standalone equalizer without the amp modeling engaged. In this case it works as a four band EQ, whereas in modelling mode, you have only three bands, since the first button acts as the amps gain control. You can also bypass the EQ and preamp section entirely.
HI Can you give mew some settings I can use on ME-70 to get a less high gainy distortion sound. I have a Marshall TSL601(Tube amp). I have 2 other amps (Marshall Valvstate and Line 6) and the same thing happens. Thanks.
Try dialling down the level in the preamp section (the righmost knob in that section) and, if you're using one of the amp models, lower the gain. If that doesn't work, switch off the EQ/PreAmp section entirely and experiment with the distortion settings. If you are running the board in the fx loop of your amp, you shouldnt use the distortion effects at all, since the fx loop is primarily for modulation effects. If you want to use distortion, connect the pedal directly to the amps input jack
Can you program the intelligent harmonizer according to key, major or minor chords and scales? Or does it only harmonize just a certain key like zoom multi effects?
Is there any way to turn on wah and the other effects from ur pedal when you're running on manual mode? Thanks for your time.

Ummm, what should i do, buy a cheap amp with none effects and this pedal, or a more exspensive amp with lots of digital effects?? Line 6 Spider III, or morgan 30 watt amp, and this pedal?
Kadadj 2 years ago

Kadadj 2 years ago
Really depends on the amp mate :) If the sound is clean and wide you shouldnt worry, and should go for the pedal board which will give you lots of practice using pedals & effects. :) Go for the me70 :)

Is the EQsection for the pedals etc overdrive and distortion or is it just for the COSM preamp models?
zedvine 2 years ago
The EQ and the COSM models cannot be used simultaneosely, but either one can be used with any of the effect pedals or a combination thereof.. So you can either have the effects with EQ or effects with COSM PreAmp, not a preamp with separate EQ.

So the eq that is right by the preamp selector always works on the preamp right?
I'm just not clear on what you are saying
wolfhalen 2 years ago
not exactly, if you use the COSM amp models, the EQ behaves like the tone control on an amp, but it is possible to run the EQ as a standalone equalizer without the amp modeling engaged.

Or does it only harmonize just a certain key like zoom multi effects?
hadouken34 2 years ago
you can program it watch the original demo from boss..
belafarinrodisgod 2 years ago
you can even change it on zoom. Anyway, Zoom sucks. I own one and i'll be buying an ME-70 soon. Well, that's just my opinion, each to his own.
