best thing i can advise all of you younger guys is to be patient, persistent, and adsorb all of the knowledge you can about the science of bodybuilding. i weighed 120lbs when i started and have averaged a gain of about 8lbs/year since that time
@gcblystone i liked this answer, 8 libs a year of muscle, is very good, u dont have to gain 20 pounds in 6 months. If u gain 8 a year, and u keep training, in 2-3 years you will look awesome and healthy..
I use 10kgs and have a training program which works the back, triceps biceps, chest, tris and forarms (On a different day each) but i am finding it hard to gain the huge size and definition. I also each a lot of chicken.
cool, gave me an idea for the extra exercise i need to fill in my tri workout, thanks.
also, great definition all around, though i do suggest training your obliques more. with your body type, it should create the illusion of a more defined waist, make 'em subtle, and they should go far.
I'd like to hear how ya did in the competition, poses looked pretty good too.
Keep up the good work bro. A lot of people can't appreciate just how much work and sacrifice goes into a sport like this. We don't enjoy the freedoms that others have, but your going great.
i got into lifting at home everyday (and running several nights per week) when i was fat at about age 12/13. joined a gym and soon got into powerlifting the summer after freshmen year of high school. i had just wrestled, at a weight of 119.
@DarkHour404 hey I was just wondering if you can help me or give me any tips
i'm about to be 19, 145 pounds, i'm 5'8, err i donno anything else but if you can help me please help me, i'm trying to atleast put on 20 pounds before next summer, i cut my cardio, and now i'm using protein powder instead of like peanut butter
hey man, forget the 6 out of 15,concentrate on the 3rd,,here in the uk,politics come into judging, area, gym, ect, your lookin good and dont follow any new advice so close to ur day man, keep up the hard work increase the quads a touch, keep focussed youve got all the tools, just refine them a little, its all in the diet, the mind, ur shape is ready to tweak so dont be dispondent mate.build on ur focus usin the 3rd,good luck and keep posting.
thank bro, i really appreciate it. i have faced a lot of personal issues in the last few years (since my best ever conditioning, and winning) but i think things are coming together, priorities and understandings about what it really takes to succeed. i've had some harsh lessons in work ethic recently.
we should always strive to arise from the ashes of helplessness and defeat, to a newer and stronger embodiment of our true selves
i do best with 1.5 grams per pound during contest prep. i carb up only when needed, which is maybe once per week. clean carbs and maybe a piece or 2 of fruit in the early phase of prep
started lifting 13 years ago, bodybuilding 9. in the past i did not do a lot of cardio but I drop so fast on no carbs that i didnt have to. going to be doing things differently next time. i'm already doing 5 am cardio for the first true time ever and i havent even decided on a show
terrible. i followed some new advice on the carb up going into the show and it didnt work. got 6 out of 14 or 15 there. probably the most competitive show i have ever done. got 3rd at the other... long long stories, but both shows had drama and overwhelmingly stressful occurrences in the day or 2 before. stress destroys a physique in seconds
thanks man. the answer to that question is so multi-faceted and individualized. train hard, train smarter rather than harder when applicable, and eat, eat, eat. thanks again. here's my current routine:
intense man! you should give me a good workout schedule for mass! if you did that would be great seeing that you have huge size thanks! good luck with your shows!
I don't see what the problem is. I work out too and have often been critiziced for the same reason. Getting a "decent looking" body is not an easy task. It takes a lot of effort, time & dedication, so why not showing off what one has busted his butt for? If a chick wears shorts or mini-skirts 'cause she has nice legs or unbutttons half of her shirt 'cause has nice tits it's ok. But if a man wants to show off what he works for, it's wrong? Not fair.
georgemuscle -- ur a FUCKIN RETARD, SO I GUESS UR HOMO EHH CAUSE U SAID IF I DONT LIKE IT THEN DONT WATCH IT...IT PROVES UR A FAGG BTW BODYBUILDERS CANT WORKOUT PROPERLY
Hmm..This kinda seems like a "tooting my own horn" and "hey look at me" video..If it is great, youve earned it..Maybe a little explaining though..What youre doing and what if affects, reps,sets..stuff like that?
Well, i like to start with rope pressdowns to warm up the triceps and elbow.
Then, dumbbell overhead extensions work the long head of the triceps most effectively due to its attachment site. I also try to do at least one single-arm exercise each workout.
I am 5'5 too and when I was lifting 8 years ago, I was 3 times the size I am now
it is hard for me to power lift any more, I moved away from my fave gym and now it is almost 1 hour to get get a to the nearest good gym with out yuppies jabbering in my ear on the tredmill when I am starting my cardio...LOL I still have some home gym stuff, but after the age of 25, you will feal like your falling off, stay with it, dont be like me..I am sad at what has left me
I am 5'5 without shoes, 25 yr old, been lifting for 13 years. I competed in powerlifting for 3 years before my first bodybuilding show, and twice since then. Checked out some of your vids, lookin' strong, keep up the good work! You always train at home?
I started at 14, around the same young age. 5-5 is an advantage I think for powerlifting, or BB a little too. My arms are stuck at 17", guessing yours are probably around 18-19" At 6-1 it's hard to have arms look big, plus long levers are tough with heavy weight.. I truly admire your accomplishment already at 25. Thank you for your response, to me that indicates a good man with a good attitude.
Train at home since I moved, no convenient gyms. I have a lot of good equipment anyhow.
your triceps are huge man!! you normaly go for reps or weight!?my triceps are very small so my legs but i cant train them hurt my nees a year ago so just trying to work on my uper body!!by the way just protein!!MMMMM..... its all good
I will go heavy on occasion, but I don't feel that it does much for my triceps compared to other parts. I like 10-15 reps and tricep supersets. Try to find away to train your legs, the body tends to grow as a whole. Do a set to failure on leg extensions in the top half, then go straight to leg presses or squats; don't need as much weight to get a high level of intensity. best luck!
Good luck with the weight training class! Focus on the mind-muscle connection, and don't worry about the amount of weight. Injuries suck and they will never disappear entirely. All my injuries occurred around age 17, from powerlifting.
for training on triceps.would u recommend going with a slower form? will it hit the triceps better?cos in your vids you are doing them quite fast.saw from the web doing slow form maximses strength and the shape. Can u please give me advice..Im new thanks:)
Thank you! I train on average 4 days per week. Currently, I am only taking True Protein, Muscle Milk, and Mega Men. At other times I will use a half serving of Cell Tech or some other form of creatine, BCAA's and Glutamine.
depends on what style of training i am doing at the time and with what frequency i am hitting triceps. in general, i prefer less than 30 min per bodypart
can my right arm afford it? I think my form might be much better with my right which is the cause of the difference. I've taken a week off unfortunately and my muscles are already shrinking, any more time off might cost the mass of my right arm.
My left bicep was at one time a half inch or more behind my right. I did a few sets of about 10 reps on non-arm days, and focused more on single arm movements on arm day. The left caught up in a few months, then passed up the right and has been a little bigger with a slightly better peak ever since.
Congrats on the 6th place! Sometimes its better placing in 6th or even 7th, it can give you a huge amount of motivation, come back next year and just blow the competition away! I would love to see the pics/vids Im sure you did deserve 1st or 2nd, anyways let me know when they are up and I will definetely give you my honest opinion. Have a good one man!
Haha no problem bro, some people on this site just amaze me with their stupidity. Do we really need anymore evidence that we evolved from apes? I think some of these guys only made it part way through the evolution process. You are right, you are better to just ignore them, they dont even deserve to be acknowledged. Glad to see you dont let these little punks get on your nerves, also I am glad to see that people are still incorporating flexing/posing between sets. There is still hope out there!
lLooking great bro, if any of you had a body like his you would walk around naked so just shut up about the whole pants thing, as far as him being an idiot for flexing "like he is in a show" clearly you are the idiot because you can benefit a lot just by flexing after a set,and it helps keep the pump up,so for all you amateurs out there who are bashing this guy, just do us all a favour and fuck off and die because you know nothing of the sport of bodybuilding, good luck at your upcoming show man!
HAHAHA ROFLMAO Thank You GMAN!!! I was so irritated by those remarks that i would rather ignore them. I am still clueless what a "power part" is.. is he talking about my dick?? LOL You obviously understand bodybuilding and the importance of flexing as well! Way back when, an older fella who trained with many of the greats back in the glory days of Gold's Venice told me to always practice my posing between sets for a multitude of reasons. Thanks!
And as an update, i placed a respectable 6th of 14 at my state championships in the open division, and somehow got 3rd at a national show. After i reviewed the pics, i believe i deserved first and wouldnt complain about 2nd, however the guy that won.. well i'll try to get some vids on here soon and you be the judge
golberggamer shut the fuck up you ignorant foreign bastard, natural bodybuilders can drink as much protein as they like, and what the fuck is a power part? does it even exist? and I would like to see the documented information from which you came to the conclusion that protein has side effects including testicular atrophy? Until I post again, go fuck yourself and have a nice day!
Thank you for all of the props fighternh! I have been in a slump since my last show but I am coming back. I really need to stay around 195 in the off season but my appetite keeps me at 215 despite long weeks and long days - i work 2 jobs and am trying to build my own business.
Thanks again and as soon as I can get back to say 200-205 i'll try to post some more workout vids, probably biceps, back and or delts cuz i do some unique things in those workouts too and it might help some of the new guys watching
God I wish I had a waist like that, I work out quite substantially as well, but beer is in my Routine diet quite often... kills my testosterone levels as well
Beer is no good bro! I have a few Guinness, preferably draft, on average one night every 6-8 weeks. I'll have Coor's Light if money is tight, hey it has the fewest calories! lol
i no im not perfect. but when u do the standing up tricep extensions. u should try to extend ur arm all the way. this comments not to critisize or anything. i do it like that. it works very well.

Have a good one man!
gman0345 3 years ago
Haha no problem bro, some people on this site just amaze me with their stupidity. Do we really need anymore evidence that we evolved from apes? I think some of these guys only made it part way through the evolution process. You are right, you are better to just ignore them, they dont even deserve to be acknowledged. Glad to see you dont let these little punks get on your nerves, also I am glad to see that people are still incorporating flexing/posing between sets. There is still hope out there!
gman0345 3 years ago
lLooking great bro, if any of you had a body like his you would walk around naked so just shut up about the whole pants thing, as far as him being an idiot for flexing "like he is in a show" clearly you are the idiot because you can benefit a lot just by flexing after a set,and it helps keep the pump up,so for all you amateurs out there who are bashing this guy, just do us all a favour and fuck off and die because you know nothing of the sport of bodybuilding, good luck at your upcoming show man!
gman0345 3 years ago

After i reviewed the pics, i believe i deserved first and wouldnt complain about 2nd, however the guy that won.. well i'll try to get some vids on here soon and you be the judge
gcblystone 3 years ago
golberggamer shut the fuck up you ignorant foreign bastard, natural bodybuilders can drink as much protein as they like, and what the fuck is a power part? does it even exist? and I would like to see the documented information from which you came to the conclusion that protein has side effects including testicular atrophy? Until I post again, go fuck yourself and have a nice day!
gman0345 3 years ago
It's not natural muscle , he drink proten and take power parts .
if u want to creat for u a muscle body u must to work to it natural .
this man that he train not make baby because the balls not work with this proten and the parts power .
"we can to understand thats man is not man he is gay" .

fighternh 3 years ago
Thank you for all of the props fighternh! I have been in a slump since my last show but I am coming back. I really need to stay around 195 in the off season but my appetite keeps me at 215 despite long weeks and long days - i work 2 jobs and am trying to build my own business.
gcblystone 3 years ago
Thanks again and as soon as I can get back to say 200-205 i'll try to post some more workout vids, probably biceps, back and or delts cuz i do some unique things in those workouts too and it might help some of the new guys watching

God I wish I had a waist like that, I work out quite substantially as well, but beer is in my Routine diet quite often... kills my testosterone levels as well
jujitsuese 3 years ago
Beer is no good bro! I have a few Guinness, preferably draft, on average one night every 6-8 weeks. I'll have Coor's Light if money is tight, hey it has the fewest calories! lol
