Archie isn't a materialist. He's a humble man with strong family ties and a GAMBLER in the purest sense of the term. When you're a genuine gambler (ie not in it for permanent wealth and not afraid of going broke) then winning and losing are truly both sides of the same coin. Moreover, Archie did not LOSE 40 DOLLARS! Imagine how much money he spent and gave away over the two and a half years when he destroyed all the legends of poker heads-up and almost bankrupted Binion's Horseshoe Casino!!!

Through his 20s and 30s he had won a million + and lost it 50 !!! different times !!! even after losing his 40 mil he has gone on smaller rushes...winning 4 mil in a couple days and losing it the next day, another time he went with 1800 lost 1600 and ran the last 200 up to 980k... its crazy to me because his weakness is also what makes him one of the best..
