Watch the 2004 extended cut and directors commentary. You'll see the potential it had.

The best Punisher, the most dark one, was Dolph Lundgren in 1989. Although not a very spectacular movie, no bunch of special effects, the character was simply much less "sugary" than Thomas Jane. This movie is unbalanced with me. It has A LOT of plot holes and small bits that bug me, but yet i prefer it over the 2004 film. I loved the 2004 film with Thomas Jane. Love, love, loved it. If they took the time to write a decent script for War Zone, then it would have been better than the 2004 film

You are right about that... I miss those asskicking 80's movies, but this was so unprofessional. I was embarrassed even to watch this, because it looked like that director and actors didn't have any visions for this movie or think about a one second what they are doing. Even the biggest bad guy of them all, Jigsaw or whatever, was very lame. I didn't took seriously that character. It should have been as intimidating as Joker in The Dark Knight. It was like Punisher was killing women or wimps. :D

've seen all three Punisher movies:
1st one is just simply poor!
2nd is a good old fashioned action movie with good quality acting all round nice fight scenes especially the Kevin Nash scence classic!
The 3rd is just a total KILL-FEST, nothing but ultra violence like you've never seen before total contrast from previous films in the franchise.

I will admit, Ray was the perfect Punisher. Thomas Jane looks like Frank from the Punisher Garth Ennis covers. In the pages themselves, Frank looks like Ray. Plus, Ray got the character right pretty much. Just wish they had better development and less bad dialogue. Then it would've been great.

such a tacky movie, ray stevenson looks puny and wierd, his voice is horrible, the special effects if you can call them that look like the efforts of a mentally challenged 2 year old, a B list cast, an F list director, poor acting, no character development or storyline.

the first punisher ( 1989) was just a typical butchery from the '80
the second one (2004) was just to joyful and the actor was not convincing at all
the third one is an B class horror.

This movie is unbalanced with me. It has A LOT of plot holes and small bits that bug me, but yet i prefer it over the 2004 film. I loved the 2004 film with Thomas Jane. Love, love, loved it. But the thing that pissed me off was that it was nothing at all like the comics. This one, however, had characters from the comics, which is why i adore it. If they took the time to write a decent script for War Zone, then it would have been better than the 2004 film

I don't give a shit, to tell the truth. It was a bad movie, and I don't like the fact that they were so talentless to the point where they had to copy someone else's work.
Nothing against Ennis, it's what I've got against the idiots with the film. And I'm sure Ennis loved it, all they did was copy him.
And no, I've never read any Punisher comics, aside from a few pages here and there.

punisher war zone is awful, it was like one of those crappy saturday night b-movies on the sci fi channel, and that ray stevenson douchbag looks like a killer, rapist, phsycho and a sadist all in one, bring back thomas jane, the only actor whos punisher was relativley succesful and the pnly one that felt like a real movie that you go and see at theatres

no, I think the 2004 version was alot better, it did really well telling us how and why frank castle became the punisher, its basiclly the origins of the punisher, plus it had good effects, good acting, good dialogue, and I enjoyed the story, war zone seemed like it was made by a couple of 13 year old punisher nerds who dont know what story structure is

You are right about that... I miss those asskicking 80's movies, but this was so unprofessional. I was embarrassed even to watch this, because it looked like that director and actors didn't have any visions for this movie or think about a one second what they are doing. Even the biggest bad guy of them all, Jigsaw or whatever, was very lame. I didn't took seriously that character. It should have been as intimidating as Joker in The Dark Knight. It was like Punisher was killing women or wimps. :D
