i was thinking about building a time mechine going back and replacing the bible with some absolutly crazy story.... then i thought about... had i been able to do so.... then i already have. and the current result of my actions are already into play and the story i atempted to to spread was mistranslated and changed to mislead by kings and popes throught time from then til now... my attempt was failed. and so born was the story of christ.
ive made the gospel very easy. its 80% courage and about 20% words. it goes like this:exuse me sir, what happens when you die. if they say go to heaven then ask them if they are a christian. if not ask why. if they say i dont know tell them there is is more evidence for heaven than none at all because when ur dead u cant come back, or can you. some people have come back to life and believe in heaven and hell, then ask them if this is true why arent you living for jesus. simplessss ;-)

@wkrepelin What you're saying is very true in a lot of ways. Yes, we can sometimes be quite short-sighted in their approach to life, but what would have been the point of God putting us in this world if we were to keep our eyes blindly fixed on the world to come? Like I said, it's not always about the present, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it never is. I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. John Piper since He agrees with the Word of God. If you disagree with John about the gospel, check out 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 and John 3:16-17. By the way, this gospel of Christ changed my life. I now have peace with God, forgiveness of sins, love for others, and the gift of eternal life. @zipitup75 Peter and the book of James are dealing with those who claim to be Christians but don't live it out. Both of these holy men are telling us that faith will produce the spiritual fruit of obedience. In other words, faith in Christ alone for salvation is never alone (i.e. it produces fruit). So, Piper is still correct that people are saved by faith alone in Christ alone. This means people are saved by grace which is God's unmerited favor. It is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

alright I typically avoid responding to anything but this just made me laugh. for starters if you look at the Hebrew and Greek words used for corners, they mean extremities or borders. If they wanted to say the earth was flat they would have used "Paamouth" not "Kanaph." Also Revelations is using basic literary techniques to convey meaning through imagery. Do you really think the writer meant that Jesus would have a tongue as a sword?
Also some historians feel they may be referring to the four compass points. And if not that, look at Isaiah 40:22
"It is He who sits above the CIRCLE of the eart..." (ESV)
Now if you don't see that as Isaiah claiming the earth was a sphere, I can understand that since a circle is also flat. But this shows that he did not mean four literal corners and that the earth was a lovely square.

hmmm...I can see why you might think that, Matt...but to be honest, that's not very true of me. Yes, I grew up in a church, and yes, I heard a lot of those stories and have been doing this...."church" thing for a long time. But you have no clue what sorts of challenges I have gone through and still go through, regarding my beliefs. I've come to points where I wanted to put it all away, but there are some things that are just beyond what was "fed" to me from a young age....
There are honestly just some moments that can't be explained by anything but simply as the love of God. The moments don't come frequently, but when they do, you just don't deny those times very easily. Nobody fed it to me. All I did was come open and honest to God, broken with little left, and the love He showed me overwhelmed and healed everything that I thought was broken.
Basically...there are just some things that you know in your heart, and the mind will never be able to understand....
That's not God. That's you. It's the strength that's in you, your WILL and you stand tall after being broken because of your own strength. It's when sportsmen thank God for their victory, THEY were the ones who trained every single day, fully dedicated to their training, had the support of friends and family all times, IT WASN'T GOD who let them win, it was THEIR own merit and not God's. as for the gold dust, a couple of my friends were just praying, and for some reason, it started forming on their arms and clothes...lol
i've heard of a story (so this one's not personal) of a church in India that had no money to build their church...and so they prayed, and then so much gold dust formed so that they could package it and sell it, and they had enough money to build a church that hosts a large amount of ppl (i think i recall 5000) but this is a story i can't verify tho...sorry

That is not necessarily true. I'm sixteen years old and I attend a catholic high school. I agreed to attend there because the education is outstanding, but that is besides the fact. My parents are Christians, and I have never accepted nor believed what I have been taught about religion. I constantly read and educate myself in math and sciences. Why are you convinced that the "adolescent mind" is so provincial as you say it is? The mind of a youth can be sensible and unbiased to an advantage.
I'm not saying all are "lost", to put it like that:
There are people who can distinguish facts from stories and rational thing from the ridiculousness that's in Holy Books. There are people who can make up their own minds and not accept what they practically force on them in church or school. They're not afraid to question things. Respect to those. Respect to you.

Our basis of morality does not come from the divine first of all. Morality is based on sociological behavior. People do not go around killing others with no justice as a social norm just for the fact that we cannot function or survive as a society if we do so. This has been innate in us since the era of the hunter gatherers. This is also seen throughout nature. Not many animals function independantly. They all have their own pack or group to survive.

Yes, we can sometimes be quite short-sighted in their approach to life, but what would have been the point of God putting us in this world if we were to keep our eyes blindly fixed on the world to come? Like I said, it's not always about the present, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it never is. The present can hurt, but God put us here to admire his work and give him praise for all that he's done for us.

I wholeheartedly agree with Dr. John Piper since He agrees with the Word of God. If you disagree with John about the gospel, check out 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 and John 3:16-17. By the way, this gospel of Christ changed my life. I now have peace with God, forgiveness of sins, love for others, and the gift of eternal life. @zipitup75 Peter and the book of James are dealing with those who claim to be Christians but don't live it out. Both of these holy men are telling us that faith will produce the spiritual fruit of obedience. In other words, faith in Christ alone for salvation is never alone (i.e. it produces fruit). So, Piper is still correct that people are saved by faith alone in Christ alone. This means people are saved by grace which is God's unmerited favor. It is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

alright I typically avoid responding to anything but this just made me laugh. for starters if you look at the Hebrew and Greek words used for corners, they mean extremities or borders. If they wanted to say the earth was flat they would have used "Paamouth" not "Kanaph." Also Revelations is using basic literary techniques to convey meaning through imagery. Do you really think the writer meant that Jesus would have a tongue as a sword?

"It is He who sits above the CIRCLE of the eart..." (ESV)
Now if you don't see that as Isaiah claiming the earth was a sphere, I can understand that since a circle is also flat. But this shows that he did not mean four literal corners and that the earth was a lovely square.

It's a lot more plausible explanation than a book which was already disproved many times, in many important parts.
It's so pathetic how people keep trying to defend their religion, when it has brought a lot more negativity in the world than good. The bad things far outweigh the good. And as I've learned the Old Testament was a mess, God was immoral, the New Testament isn't much better. People pick nice parts they like but don't wanna hear the bad, and say religion is a good thing...ignorance.

ok first off, hell wasnt created for humans. it was created for Satan and his followers, after adam and eve broke their connection with God, that disconnected all other humans from God as well and we are only saved by grace and belief in Jesus. Jesus also said "if you are not for me, then you are against me". You ignore the fact that we deserve it for the punishment of our sin. If someone rapes and murders your children or something worse, do you want them to get away with it? Isn't God good for appointing a day in which He'll dispense justice upon mankind? Hell is necessary.

Yes, I grew up in a church, and yes, I heard a lot of those stories and have been doing this...."church" thing for a long time. But you have no clue what sorts of challenges I have gone through and still go through, regarding my beliefs. I've come to points where I wanted to put it all away, but there are some things that are just beyond what was "fed" to me from a young age....

There are honestly just some moments that can't be explained by anything but simply as the love of God. The moments don't come frequently, but when they do, you just don't deny those times very easily. Nobody fed it to me. All I did was come open and honest to God, broken with little left, and the love He showed me overwhelmed and healed everything that I thought was broken.
Basically...there are just some things that you know in your heart, and the mind will never be able to understand....

Listen, as I pointed out, the adolescent mind accepts things more easily, stories as facts.
They teach the kids, as they've taught you, that when ever something miraculous happens to them, they get better after a negative event (like you), that it is God's work, and they believe, because that's what they've been taught from an early age, if you were Jewish or a Muslim, who would you thank for things? it happened to my friend...a guy prayed for her leg to be made even, and it just happened...she was stumbling for the first bit cuz she wasn't used to it....lol
my church also went into the community and started praying for ppl, and there were a few cases of the same thing...they weren't limping anymore, walking completely normal

as for the gold dust, a couple of my friends were just praying, and for some reason, it started forming on their arms and clothes...lol
i've heard of a story (so this one's not personal) of a church in India that had no money to build their church...and so they prayed, and then so much gold dust formed so that they could package it and sell it, and they had enough money to build a church that hosts a large amount of ppl (i think i recall 5000) but this is a story i can't verify tho...sorry

That is not necessarily true. I'm sixteen years old and I attend a catholic high school. I agreed to attend there because the education is outstanding, but that is besides the fact. My parents are Christians, and I have never accepted nor believed what I have been taught about religion. I constantly read and educate myself in math and sciences. Why are you convinced that the "adolescent mind" is so provincial as you say it is? The mind of a youth can be sensible and unbiased to an advantage.

I think it is time that many Christians(I'm a Christian) stopped being so confrontational with the Gospel. Some of those American "evangelists" are an embarrassment to watch.

In fact, I think that the christianic human sacrafice of jesus isn't morally sound. I can pay your debt, forgive you, ect, but I cannot alleviate the responsibilities of your actions. I cannot make them go away. This implication is preasent when begging forgiveness to a man that died in the form of a human blood sacrafice, or vicarious redemption. Overall, it completley abolishes personal responsibility and has no basis to build for morality.

Willing or not, it is still immoral for anybody to throw their crimes on somebody else. That completley abolishes personal responsibility. I ask you; If you hit somebody's child with your car, are you going to beg forgiveness from god, or are you going to seek forgiveness from the parents of whose child you murdered? Our basis of morality does not come from the divine first of all. Morality is based on sociological behavior. People do not go around killing others with no justice as a social norm just for the fact that we cannot function or survive as a society if we do so. This has been innate in us since the era of the hunter gatherers. This is also seen throughout nature. Not many animals function independantly. They all have their own pack or group to survive.

Precislely. Every single culture's morality differs from place to place. In Europe 16 year olds can drink alchohol, but over here, I'll be black listed the rest of my life if I even dare offer a beer to a teen.
It appears to me that dominant religious countries are the most opressive, where muslims believe they are doing a moral and righteous act blowing up an orphanage, or throwing acid in the face of women who are impropperly covered.

I do not believe Jesus was in any way, shape or form a god, but more of a overly enthused preacher. Nothing more.
