this show sucked!the whole second half looked like halloween witch costumes and the models makeup and hair made them look like vampires! i just dont get this line at all.
Shakira uses the idea of Rodarte's black arm lines in her new video with Lil Wayne. Example of fashion's more artistic inspired houses influencing pop culture... (other than just selling sex like some houses)
Honestly, im a tad bit dissapointed. Dnt get me wron,g the concept is great and it had potential to be amazing, however i think it wasn't. First of all, a lot of the pieces look very unwearable on an everyday basis, and also the markings on the arms and body were not necessary and it wud've been better without them. i did like however, the shoes, and the looks with pants. Very cute! overall, not the best collection, but pretty creative!
Who are the target audiences of these looks? I'm just a little confused as to why this collection is being sensationalized. Yes it's original and yes it's groundbreaking, but I don't think it's very clear. I hear the terms post-apocalyptic, polluted and street being thrown around, but I don't think it appeals to many outside of the industry. I think the statement works, and honestly it's not of my taste, but I'm just confused.
when I photograph runway, a lot of times fashion photographers will yell if ANYTHING with the lighting changes, or if someone uses a camera flash in the audience, things that will offset their light balances. it's pretty fucking vicious..i had this one photographer literally push me to get a shot during the runway show for Cesar Galindo.
the too-high shoes are too similar to the Louboutin for Rodarte heels for fall 08. Also, am I the only one who would love to see either one of the Mulleavy girls maneuver these heels?
i think it was really good and in the other hand i felt that laura and kate are designing what they feel in a way that can be descrive as a pattern so they dont wanna lose something that they already know it was good so they try to renovate fabrics ,patterns and colors ,and texture
I'm suprised at the general reaction this show is getting on here. I was very impressed with Rodarte's collection, (as usual). I felt it was extremely innovative. It was a has-been idea that the sisters breathed new life into, and made undeniably their own. The textiles were very orginal, and some unusual silhouettes.
One of my favorite collections from this week so far. Starkly creative, and very fashion-forward. Keep on working it, girls.
This barbaric approach is nothing new. In the likes of Gareth pugh, Sophia Kokosalaki and all that primeval garish Prada of last year....I just didn't expect the sisters to be at the receiving end. They used to conceptualize new ideas, but it seems not this time around.
sometimes i feel that rodarte are more surface textiles designers as they dont play with the silhoette that much always this body conscience thing. if you had tribal inspiration there is so much more you could do with the shape.

Jamie's face could definitely screw up a camera... lol. I still love her though.
That does sound vicious! I guess it's pretty important. And I thought the paparazzi were bad.

I feel like there are no new ideas in fashion, just old ideas reimagined, The way Rodarte is innovative is definitely more evident in their textiles.
