A variation I've seen floating out there is to poke with your finger to their your opponents throat near their Adam's apple. The finger choke gets its power from your opponent's hold thus forcing them to release their grip instantaneously. I'm not sure how secure the finger choke technique is but I know the technique shown at 0:35 is very solid and I'm familiar with it being taught in Krav Maga. Thanks for the video illustration! P.S. don't regard me as a master as I'm not.
i always thought that u werent supposed to push the guy back because that causes space between u and the attacker and that gives the attacker a chance to pull out a weapon or something.thats just my opinion.
@MrBmoreallday sorry for the delay in reply: it all depends on the situation. The benefit of creating distance is that you give yourself time to assess what the next attack will be - is the attack done? Are they going to punch? Is there a weapon? etc. etc. If they're in close, they could pull a knife/gun without you ever seeing. Again, this is a very basic level demo, and there is infinite variations depending on the situation. Great point/question.
@Hhound Any strike can be a very useful distraction. Shihan often says those two targets are also the most useful (as in "if they can't see or they can't breath - they can't fight"). However, the technique is demonstrated here at it's most basic or universal application - that way anyone can apply it without needing to change it too much. Great point/question.
@ShinobiNoTodai imagine the same pose the attacker has you in in this video but from behind.thanks brother if you can provide this technique it will be most appreciated. happy training ;)
@leogets2006 Actually - I'm the attacker in the video =). I'm Shihan's Uchi Deshi, and I run the channel. I understand now what you're talking about - grabing the neck/shoulders from behind. I'll add this to our shooting schedule. Arigatou!

@ShinobiNoTodai you make a good point.

since you were taller and had longer reach... wouldnt a strike to the eyes or throat be quicker and more effective?

@leogets2006 You mean something like a standing rear naked choke? I can ask Shihan to do that during filming tomorrow.
