  • Everyone is keep talking about those screws which just is painted black.. I don't have them.. I just have 4 "holes" that is made to .. yeah I have no idea. I don't got the screws anyhow.

Anyone could help? I can't find someone opening one without the screws.

  • youre a smart guy. thank you for your tips

  • Thufferin thuckatath, that wath fun. With your tech skills, I bet you tear up a whole bunch of shit. What's the point of the remote, if you still have to press the button with your screwdriver? BTW, that circuit board is low voltage DC, the PS inside the unit does indeed have 120VAC inside, but you would have to try very hard to electrocute yourself. More modern units utilize an external PS, to reduce heat. Fun fact, the dot and dash vent holes are morse code, look up your model on wikipedia.

  • Fat ass sexy face big boi.

  • You make day. Thanks!

  • I think it's important to note that if you hear clicking, the drive inside the case is effectively dead. You could pull the drive and replace it with another. If the drive just doesn't mount the controller inside the case could be bad, test the actual drive in a computer or external case.

  • Thanks, this was one of the first search results for how to open a MyBook, and it helped me open a 2 Mybook 500gb and 1 750gb easily. Having 5 usb hard drives didnt really work out, so I'm building a freenas box.

  • wow he must be 2 years old, where your daddy to smack you and beat you to a pulp

  • Now this obviously won't fix anything, but it's much more reliable since it doesn't have motors and mechanisms and needles that wear out and produce heat. I think they are a bit more expensive though so be aware of that.

  • OK one thing you could do is replace that hard drive with a solid-state drive, which is not mechanical in any way, and it's much faster and more efficient. It's basically a really big flash drive. I know they make them for laptops but I'm sure they are available for that size as well. You may consider

  • three thscrewdrivers lol

  • i think u have a mullet

  • oh dont worry about getting zapped (badly) from something with a transformer on the plug, the most power comming into those devices is usually just 5-12 volts... thats also why you can touch components inside a computer without getting zapped

  • Take this and mangle the hard drive lol. Why they make it so hard to open?
