Tomcat is right, but not just about exotics - It's important to know about any pet before you buy it, even if it's a domestic dog or cat, different breeds have different requirements. I have 12 snakes, 9 frogs, 9 lizards, 3 toads and 2 pet rats. Each one is an individual.
I don't agree w/ the salmonella as some researchers thing the reptiles, especially turtles get it from their food (Fresh greens, anyone? - think spinich...)
nothing wrong with keeping them if you raise them well & keep them happy =)

Very informative. Even though exotic pets are cool and fun, they can sometimes be hard to handle and maybe even dangerous.
