I'm confident the Pre's store will grow with time but I am definitely sold on the iPhone. I am so happy with my 3Gs I can't even tell you.

Whether it's the gimmicky apps or the extremely useful ones like my Navigon Navigation about the only useful thing I can't use this phone for is scrambling my eggs in the morning.

Apps are important. If Apple didn't have the apps they did I'd doubt the phone would be as popular as it is. It's a good phone but apps really make the phone.

No it won't grow. I am a proud owner of the Pre, and imo I can do anything an iPhone can do...just 20 x's better. The issue at hand is how can we ever win if all we have are underdeveloped over priced apps. You know how your Facebook app for example is free and is the GOD of Facebook apps? Well ours is $1.99 and all I can do is like and change a status. NOTHING ELSE! Our apps are unprofessional in appearance and unprofessionally made. We basically have Apple app making rejects making our apps...

Agreed, no browser is perfect but Skyfire and UCWEB are pretty close. Actually, if Skyfire and UCWEB combined, we'd have the perfect browser. UCWEB has the best features of Opera mobile, JB5 and Iris and Skyfire is a beast in itself.

The beautiful thing about the Pre is it does have a hard keyboard for fans of that but they can easily (and I bet they will) implement a soft keyboard as well. Best of both worlds.

There will be thousands of apps on the Pre. The phone is less than a week old so devs need time to get it out there. The Apple app store was just as unimpressive when it first launched.

careful when you say "useful" because most iPhone apps are gimmicky for the younger crowd. I feel the Pre will be far more useful.

That's impossible to control. And since when is having more choice a bad thing? There are more developers for iPhone and that means more competition. Having multiple apps that do the same thing is good, because they compete with each other and gain more functionality, and the consumer wins. I can't believe how tiny the Palm Pre's app store STILL is..

There were no complete application stores until Apple's App Store, and the iPhone App Store had thousands of apps AT LAUNCH, whereas the Pre's application store (which would flat out NOT EXIST were it not for the iPhone's app store), had what, 3 dozen at launch?? Pretty pathetic. It didn't take 3 years to get 65,000, it took 2 weeks to get 3,000. That's pretty fucking impressive no matter how you look at it. Whereas Palm took 6 months to get about 32 apps.. that's pathetic.

Again totally agree. I again LOVE the Pre and cannot stand the iPhone.. But its ridiculous. DO NOT OPEN A STORE AT ALL IF ITS UNFINISHED, UNPROFESSIONAL, and STRAIGHT UP GOD AWFUL! I think our problem is too many developers are hanging with the iPhone and we get the rejects on the Pre. Makes sense too, just like making a virus for a Mac as opposed to a PC.. I respect you. I can admit that I envy the Pre's "card" ecosystem, and I like the OS styling on the Pre.. but for me that's just not worth it over having an iPhone. The iPhone's app store and speed are what makes me love it. Plus the seamless integration and syncing with pretty much everything on my computer.. And I hate that Palm constantly re-hacks iTunes instead of making a solution that's better for their consumer. It's so unprofessional. Like some smart 16 year olds made it or something.

Yes, the form factor isn't great, but the OS has the best elements of the iphone and g1, not to mention multitasking and a better camera. The OS is what really shines on this phone.
